Ch. 6

This is a bit longer than usual!
I hope it's good... 😳
I'm also thinking of writing Metal Sonic/Reader.
I'm not sure though.
For now, it's going to be about Shadow!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Getting back to Amy's house was harder than finding your way to that place.
After all, you just followed your mind's directions.
You did eventually manage, with some difficulty, but hey, you got back.
Amy and the others had since gotten home, something you cursed yourself for. How long were you out there for?
You almost felt too awkward to enter the house, but, taking a deep breath, you reached out for the door handle.
Only to retract your hand the second you saw the door begin to open.
"Well, I'm going looking for he- Oh!" There stood Amy, and her face lit up upon seeing you.
"Bun! I've been worried sick!" She pulled you into an embrace, which initially surprised you, though you did eventually return the hug, mumbling a quiet 'sorry' as you did.
"Where have you been?" She asked, bringing you inside.
"Oh, a-ah... I was just taking a walk." You half lied, playing with the straps of your bag.
She seemed to believe it, having no idea of when you left.
"Next time, leave a note or something, okay?" You sheepishly nodded.
Yeah, you probably should've done that from the beginning.
But you hadn't expected it to take that long.
"Sorry..." Amy patted you on the back, hoping to comfort you, which seemed to work.
"No real harm done!" She beamed, and you sent a smile back.
You weren't really sure what to do.
Everyone was busy doing their own thing, leaving you alone in Amy's home.
There was a knock on the door, which wasn't all that surprising, given Amy was waiting for a delivery.
You lifted yourself up from the couch, and went to answer who you assumed to be the delivery person, and to your surprise, it was a... robot?
Circular in shape and coloured red.
Though, it was holding a box, so perhaps they'd replaced their employees with robots?
Huh.
"Delivery for a 'Bun'." Wait, what?
A delivery for you?
Was this another one of Amy's gifts for you?
"Oh, thank you." You spoke quietly, before signing off on the package.
The second your signature was on that paper, the box seemed to spring to life, and out came another robot, one that somehow fit inside that box, holding a rope.
Before you could even react, you'd been wrapped in the thick rope, and you fell to the floor, unable to move.
"Wha-?!" You looked to the red robot, heart racing, wondering what exactly it wanted with you, before you heard laughter from outside.
"Hah! If I'd known it'd be that easy, I'd just have dangled a carrot off a stick!" You were surprised to see Eggman walking into the house as if he owned it, which honestly bugged you a bit.
You'd just cleaned the floor, and he was dragging sand in.
Wait no, there were more important things to worry about right now.
"What do you want...?" You asked quietly, trying to worm yourself away from him.
"Oh, you know, world domination, to enslave everyone, defeating Sonic... the usual." You stared.
And you stared.
That... really didn't answer your question of what he wanted with you.
At all.
Or... maybe it did.
What if he was going to use you to get to the group?
Ack... you hadn't thought of that.
You were weak and defenceless, unable to fight back.
He reached out for you, and you closed your eyes, fearing his touch, when you heard that familiar voice, stopping him.
"That's enough, Eggman." Peeking an eye open, you saw him.
Shadow.
He stood in the doorway, looking as displeased as ever.
"Oh, yes, of course Mr. Shadow!" Even you could tell, Eggman was geeking out.
A fan?
Huh.
You found yourself being lifted and thrown over Shadow's shoulder, still unable to move.
Your mouth wasn't covered, so if you really wanted to, you could scream.
But you didn't.
If this was Shadow's idea, you weren't worried.
You, maybe a bit naïvely, trusted him still.
"You know, I was surprised when you asked me to help." Said Eggman, stepping onto his flying robot.
You still weren't entirely sure what it was. A flying robot? A... A... no, you had no idea.
Shadow didn't reply, unless you call a scoff a reply, simply focused on the task at hand.
A task you'd no idea what was.
"Hurry back. I don't have all day." Said Shadow, before teleporting to Eggman's lair, with you still over his shoulder.
You said nothing, though with no eyes on the two of you, he treated you far more gently.
Rather than having you over his shoulder, he held you in his arms, to then gently place you on a couch that stood before a TV.
He untied you, and you finally got the courage to speak.
"Why are you-...?" You asked, his eyes darting to you, though held little, if no hostility.
"We're going to get your memory back." He replied, crossing his arms.
"That's why you asked him?" Shadow was silent for a moment, before he nodded, confirming your suspicions.
Shadow had asked Eggman to somehow get your memory back.
Were you really that important to him?
It made your cheeks warm, and as much as you tried to shake it off, the feeling wouldn't go away.
Butterflies in your stomach, it was called?
Though, something nagged you.
You couldn't just... force it back, could you?
Biting the inside of your cheek, you didn't say anything.
Silence lingered between the two of you for a minute or so, before you felt a warm hand on your head.
At first, it confused you.
But then, it moved.
Shadow was petting your head, for... some reason.
And for some reason, you thoroughly enjoyed it, leaning into his touch, your eyes closed.
You'd done this before.
And as an image flashed through your mind, it confirmed it.
A clear image of Shadow petting your head, the smallest of smiles on his lips.
A genuine smile, not competitive or cocky.
Your eyes shot open, causing Shadow to stop.
"What is it." He asked, stopping.
"I-... saw you. A memory, I think..." You quietly murmured, honestly feeling a bit disappointed he'd stopped petting you.
"... Hm." You could tell something was going on in his mind, but not what.
He removed his hand from your head, much to your dismay, though you could hear Eggman approaching, at least judging by the opening of large doors, and figured it was for the best Shadow had stopped.
You were probably the easiest prisoner he'd ever had. Well, he said prisoner, though Shadow didn't seem to agree with that.
Still, he said nothing.
You didn't speak, simply listened, something Eggman seemed to enjoy.
Finally, someone who didn't feel the need to speak every two seconds, unlike a certain blue hedgehog...
Even as he ordered you go into a chamber of sorts, you did it, surprising him.
He wondered what your relation to Shadow was, but upon asking, he received the coldest of glares and shut himself up.
The chamber was more like a... tube, actually.
You stood inside, watching as Eggman tapped away on his desk, and you couldn't help but wonder what was going on.
"Uhh... boss?" Said one robot. The same that had delivered that package to you.
"What is it, I'm busy." Replied Eggman, keeping his eyes on his desk.
"Sonic and his friends are here." Said a yellow, more square robot, and Eggman shot up from his chair, quickly tapping a few keys, before groaning.
"Orbot, Cubot, stall them!" He ordered. Though they seemed reluctant, they did do as asked.
Or rather, told.
You watched on as they disappeared behind a door, then turned your attention back to Eggman.
Just as he was about to press a large button, the door was busted open, revealing Sonic and his friends.
"Don't worry Bun, we'll save you!" You didn't have the heart to tell them you came sort of willingly.
"How did you find out we'd done it?" Eggman asked, before Sonic held up a piece of a package that'd been delivered to you.
It had his trademark logo on it.
"You really need to stop putting your face on everything." Laughed Sonic.
"Eggman you fool!" Snapped Shadow, quickly engaging in a fight with the blue hedgehog.
You could only watch on with saddened eyes, unable to do anything.
The door to the chamber you were in opened, and Amy helped you out.
"Stay back." She ushered you to a corner she deemed safe, before joining the fight against Shadow and Eggman.
You so wished you could tell them.
But you just remained there, silent.
The fight was in Sonic's favour, and everyone knew that.
Shadow, upon fully realising, and possibly shifting the blame onto Eggman, snarled and, before the others could react, had made his way to you.
He flung you over his shoulder, and glared at Team Sonic, not saying a word.
Usually, he'd make a simple comment about how the next time they'd fight, it'd be on Shadow's terms.
But right now, he couldn't be bothered.
Teleporting away, the last thing you heard was Amy calling out for you.
"Bun!"
