Serena POV

I walked into Goode High School on the first day of school. I was in my final year, my senior year here. I went to find my friends. My group of friends consists of Willow, who has short black straight hair and blue eyes, Justin, who has messy blonde hair and brown eyes, and me, Serena who has long Brown curly hair and green eyes. Percy was also in our group, but he went missing mysteriously one year ago. Everyone didn't know or wouldn't tell us where he went, even his stepfather, Paul Blofis. Willow and Justin are dating, so sometimes I'm a third wheel. They both think that if Percy comes back, we should get together. That wouldn't bother me because I have a small, tinsy-tiny crush on him.... OK ITS A HUGE CRUSH. He is tall, tan, has black windswept hair, and these beautiful sea green eyes like the ocean. He was also super funny and sweet to everyone. I saw my friends and waved to them.

But then I stopped in my tracks because I saw someone: Percy Jackson.

I started running and yelling "PERCYYYYYYYY!!" I hugged him and he was confused for a second than hugged me back. I pulled away. He looked so much better, taller, leaner, more muscular, but if you looked into his eyes, you saw this brokenness and sadness.

"Where have you been?!" I said.

He scratched the back of his neck and said, "Well- I found my dad's side of the family and I was traveling with them. I went to Greece, Rome, and California. It was really last minute so I didn't have time to say goodbye."

"Why didn't you call?!" I said.

"I don't have a phone," he said.

"Why?" I said.

"Ummm- i don't really want one and stuff," he said.

"Justin, Willow! Come here," I yelled to them. They turned around.

"Percy!!" They said and ran over to hug him.

"Where have you been?" Willow said.

"Traveling to Greece, Rome, and California," Percy said.

"Why didn't you say goodbye?" Justin said.

"It was super last minute with my dad's side of the family," Percy said. We all walked to our first class, Language.

We walked into the lunch room together. We got our lunch and sat down at a table together. Then I heard Hades devil herself, Catarina Deyer. She was the "popular" girl. Her shorts were wayyy to short and her crop tops went way too low and she caked her face with make-up she wore 6-inch heels to school every single day. The outfit wasn't in the dress code, but since "her daddy has a lot of money, she can get whatever she wants." She makes me want to throw up. Especially when she flirts with Percy.

"Percyyyyy! Where have you been? How about you pick me up at 7?" She said. He scooted away from her as she snuggled up next to him.

"No thanks. Definitely NOT interested. Get away from me and my friends," he said.

"Awe why not Persexy?" She said.

"I like someone else," he said. I almost spit my water out. What if it was me?

"Please go away. You are making me want to throw up the food more than I already want to," I said.

"Fine, but the offer is still on for tonight Perce," she said with a wink and strutted away.

"Ugh I hate her," Percy said.

"Okay class, today we are going to be learning sword fighting," Coach Dawson said. "Today 5 people from a sword fighting camp in Long Island will come to teach us." At Long Island, Percy snapped his head up.

"This is Thalia," he gestured to a girl with short black spiky hair, black jeans, blue crystal eyes, combat boots, a silver tiara, and a death to Barbie t-shirt.

"Nico," he said to a kid who was wearing all black, who was pale, and had black eyes. He was a little creepy.

"Jason," who had a purple shirt, jeans, blonde hair, sneakers, glasses, and blue crystal eyes like Thalia.

"Leo," who had curly brown hair, elf-like features, a mischievous grin, a red shirt, jeans, sneakers, and a tool belt.

"And this is Annabeth," he said to a gorgeous girl who had curly blonde hair, calculating grey eyes, a orange shirt, jean shorts, and white converse.

"Okay so hello. As Coach Dawson said I'm Annabeth. Does anyone want to try to spar against me?" She said. Percy's hand shot into the air. "Okay," she scanned the crowd and her eyes landed on Percy. "You," she said and pointed at Percy. "Please pick out a sword that is about as long as your elbow to your wrist," she said.

"Kelp Head," Thalia muttered.

"Excuse me Pinecone Face?" Percy said. She touched him and he flinched. He picked a sword out.

"Let's go," he said and smirked at Annabeth. Percy was fighting with as much force and effort as Annabeth. It was like they were made to fight each other. After 5 minutes, Percy looked her right in the eye and she looked back. During that time Percy took her sword and held his up to her neck. "Never let your opponent distract you," he said with a smirk.

"Ya Perce!" Jason said and fist bumped him.

"Ya nice job I guess Kelp Head," Thalia said.

"Oh shut up Pinecone Face. Why can't you be nice like your bro Sparky?" Percy said.

"Wow finally Kelp Head beats Annabeth!" Nico said. "Oh shut up Death Breath," Percy said. Percy turned to Annabeth and held his hand out.

She shook it, but then Percy gave her a giant hug and said, "I missed you so much Wise Girl!"

She said, "I missed you too Seaweed Brain!" Then Percy gave her a quick peck on the lips. I almost cried out loud.

"So everyone get in a pair to fight stuff and if you didn't know i'm the Super-Sized Mcshizzle," Leo said.

"No one cares Leo," Thalia said with a frown.

Percy said to Annabeth, "My lady, would you do me the honor of being my sparring partner?"

"Whatever, but only if I beat you this time," she said.

"Never," he said with a grin. Thalia came up to me. "Do you want to be my partner?" She said.

"Sure," I said while looking at Percy with a frown.

"You had a crush on that Kelp Head?" She said.

"Honestly, how could you not?" I said.

"I don't date, soooo," she said. I just nodded. We were fighting for a couple of minutes, but she beat me every time. After class was over, I put away my sword and sulked out of the classroom. I looked back and saw Percy giving Annabeth a hug and a quick kiss.

"Bye Repair Boy, Pinecone Face, Sparky, Death Breath, and Wise Girl," he said while running out of the room to catch up with me. Willow and Justin were soon with us too.

"I didn't know you had a girlfriend!" Willow said.

"It never came up I guess," he said.

"How long have you been together? How long have you known her?" Willow said.

"We've been dating for 2 years and we've been best friends since we were 12," he said.

"Awww that's so cute!! Do you go to the same camp as those other people?" Willow said.

"Ya, those are some of my best friends from the camp," he said.

"Where does she go to school?" Willow said.

"She finished high school early, so she is taking architecture classes because that's what she wants to do," Percy said. We all walked out of the school. "Bye Serena!" Percy said and waved at me.

"Bye," I mumbled. I accidentally knocked into someone. "Sorry," I said.

"No it's fine," a human of the male species said. I looked at him. He had curly blonde hair and green eyes.

"Do you go here? I don't think I've ever seen you here," I said.

"Ya," he said.

I held my hand out and said, "I'm Serena Poplar."

He shook it and said, "I'm Hunter Waters. Do you want me to walk you home?"

I said one word that would change my life forever: "Sure."
