Chapter 35

Lucy POV

“You did great, Sunshine.” Noah said as he placed the cup of tea in front of me.

“You think so?” I asked nervously.

“Of course.” Noah smiled. “Riley loved you.”

I smiled back at him and sipped my tea carefully.

Noah gave Theo his cup before sitting down opposite us.

“Thank you for taking me outside.” I said to my brothers. “I had a wonderful time.”

“As soon as the fucker is gone, we will take you anywhere you want.” Theo said, smiling at me.

I gave him a small smile, but my stomach twisted in fear. Is he really after me? Is there a way for him to take me? God, I hope not. Now that I know how beautiful life can be, I don’t think I could survive another day with him.

“He is not taking you away from us.” Noah said, reaching over the counter and taking my hand in his.

How did he know what I was thinking? Am I that obvious or is it like a triplet thing?

Before I could ask him, Ezra walked into the kitchen. He smiled at us and walked over to me.

“Hey, honey.” he said as he placed a kiss on the top of my head. “Did you have fun?”

“I did.” I smiled. “Riley is great.”

“She is.” Ezra nodded. “Did she teach you something she shouldn’t have?”

“No, but she told me a lot of interesting stories about Theo and Noah.” I said with a huge grin on my face.

Theo and Noah rolled their eyes, and Ezra laughed.

“She exaggerated a bunch of stuff.” Theo said.

“So you didn’t jump off of a roof?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

“He did.” Ezra nodded. “He gave us all a heart attack.”

Theo sighed. “It was a dare.”

“If you ever do something like that again, I will smack the life out of you.” I said, pointing a finger at him and trying to be intimidating.

By the look on my brothers’ faces, I wasn’t doing a very good job.

“You are cute when you are trying to be scary.” Noah chuckled.

I glared at him. “Why didn’t you stop him?”

“I wasn’t close.” Noah sighed. “Do you really think I would let him do that? My heart almost gave out when I saw him fall.”

I turned to Theo, giving him another angry glare. “Never again.”

“Sure.” he smiled and pulled me closer to him.

I leaned my head on his shoulder, and Noah smiled at me.

I heard footsteps walking toward the kitchen. I turned around to see Liam enter.

“Hi, love.” he smiled at me, walking to the cupboard and making himself a cup of tea.

“We need to talk to you, Lucy.” Ezra said, sitting down on the counter next to Noah.

My heartbeat quickened. Did I do something wrong?

Theo wrapped his arm around my waist, and I relaxed immediately.

“Do you remember anyone else from your childhood, Lucy?” Liam asked, turning around.

Theo tensed up and looked at Noah.

“What do you mean?” I furrowed my eyebrows.

“Do you remember any other people other than the four of us?” Ezra clarified.

I tried to think back to when I was a child, but it was a blur. I do remember other people, but their faces aren’t clear. I can’t remember their names. I know they were around, but I don’t know who they were to me.

“Not really, no.” I said after a few moments.

Liam and Ezra exchanged a look.

“Tell me you didn’t.” Theo said, tightening his arm around me.

Liam looked at him and nodded. Theo groaned and lowered his head.

What happened? What did Liam and Ezra do?

I looked back at them. “What did you do?”

I placed one hand on Theo’s back, rubbing it soothingly. What did they do to upset him like this?

Noah looked pissed and worried.

What is going on?

“We informed the rest of our family about your return.” Liam said slowly.

What?

The rest of my family?

“Couldn’t you wait a little bit longer?” Theo groaned. “We just got her back. I wanted more time with her.”

“Same here.” Noah mumbled. “They are going to be all over her, and we won’t get any time together.”

My heartbeat quickened rapidly. Who is going to be all over me? I won’t get to spend time with Theo and Noah? I don’t want to be separated from them. Not again. Not even for a minute.

“They gave me a hard time as is.” Liam sighed. “I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer.”

“What is going on?” I managed to mumble.

My brothers looked at me and gave me an apologetic look.

“I’m sorry, love.” Liam said, walking toward me. “We got carried away.”

Liam wrapped his arms around me from behind and placed his head on top of mine.

“Liam and I talked to our uncle and our grandfather today.” Ezra said, smiling at me. “They missed you so much, and they would like to meet you.”

“I have a grandfather?” I asked quietly. “And an uncle?”

“And three cousins.” Liam said, placing a kiss on the top of my head.

That was a lot.

“Any girls?” I looked up at Liam hopefully.

“No, love.” he chuckled. “You are the only girl in our lives.”

“Me and all the others who are drooling after Theo and Noah.” I said teasingly.

Liam and Ezra laughed while Theo and Noah rolled their eyes at me.

“I see that Riley managed to fill you in.” Liam chuckled.

“She did.” I nodded, grinning at Theo and Noah.

“When are they coming here?” Theo asked, changing the topic.

“Tomorrow.” Ezra said.

My heart skipped a beat. Am I ready to meet all of them? Are they as nice as my brothers? What if they don’t like me? What if they hurt me? What if they think I don’t belong here? Will they try to separate me from my brothers? Noah said that we wouldn’t be able to be together anymore. What did he mean by that? I didn’t want to be separated from my brothers. Just the thought of that made my heart break into a million pieces.

“Lucy, honey, what’s wrong?” Ezra asked.

I tried to take a deep breath, but I felt like something heavy was sitting on my chest.

Theo turned to me, placing his hands on my face. “Breathe, Lucy.”

I did. I tried to. It was really hard.

“I told you it was too soon.” Theo gritted through his teeth, looking up at Liam.

Noah was tense and ready to jump up at any time. Ezra looked at me worriedly.

“What’s wrong, love?” Liam asked, rubbing my arms up and down. “I can tell them not to come if you are not ready.”

I closed my eyes, forcing myself to take a deep breath.

“Will they take me away?” I managed to ask.

Theo froze. Liam stopped rubbing my arms.

“Why would they do that, love?” Liam asked after a few moments of silence.

“Noah said we wouldn’t be together anymore.” I said, my voice breaking. “I don’t want them to take me away from you.”

Two sets of arms wrapped around me instantly. I heard chairs scrapping against the floor, and Noah and Ezra were next to me in a second. I was completely wrapped in their arms.

“Nobody is taking you away, love.” Liam said. “You belong with us.”

“Noah meant that they are going to want to spend time with you as well.” Ezra explained. “They missed you terribly.”

Oh. I felt silly now. I should have known that’s what he meant. But I guess my fear of being taken away still exists.

“Are they nice?” I asked, hoping they couldn’t hear the fear in my voice.

“They are.” Liam nodded. “If I thought that any one of them was even the smallest threat to you, they wouldn’t be stepping a foot in this house.”

“They would never hurt you, Sunshine.” Noah whispered.

I guess I didn’t hide my fear as well as I thought I did.

I nodded. “Okay. I would like to meet them.”

“I’m glad to hear that.” Liam smiled, placing another kiss on the top of my head.

Liam and Ezra let me go, but Theo and Noah stayed.

“I don’t want to be alone with them, though.” I said, shaking my head. “I don’t think I’m ready for that.”

“Have you met Theo and Noah?” Ezra asked teasingly.

I chuckled. “You are absolutely right.”

“We will never leave you.” Theo said.

I turned my head and smiled at him. “Thank you.”

“Would you like to know something about them?” Liam asked, making me turn my head to look at him.

“Sure.” I nodded. “Maybe their names so I can greet them properly tomorrow.”

“Our grandpa’s name is William.” Ezra said. “Uncle’s name is Daniel, but everybody calls him Dan.”

“Our oldest cousin’s name is Dylan.” Liam continued. “Then you have Carter, and the youngest is Matthew.”

“Is Matthew younger than me?” I asked.

“Nope.” Ezra shook his head. “He is 22.”

“You are the youngest and the only girl.” Theo said.

“I’m so lucky.” I said, rolling my eyes playfully.

I am lucky. I am the luckiest girl in the world.

I just hope that won’t change.

I just hope Jack won’t ruin it for me.
