Did I Stutter?

"I thought it w-was the 1st of January?" Jungkook's throat was dry. He could basically forget about winning Tae back after forgetting his birthday.

"I'm pretty sure I know my own birthday better than you, Jungkook. Because in reality,— you barely know anything about me. Maybe the simple things,—"

"Like my favorite color, or in this case my birthday."

"I wasn't going to mention it. Considering I hate my birthday. Not because of the anti-aging shit. My birthdays just really sucked. Hyojong didn't really care after my seventh birthday, Hyuna just gave me Pokémon cards. Like what the hell, I never watched a single episode of Pokémon."

"But I was surprised that you were absolutely clueless." Taehyung mumbled before looking over at Jungkook who was dazed.

"I wasn't expecting anything. I'm used to that treatment anyways. But, a nice greeting would've been nice... a simple "happy birthday" the first thing I heard once I got up."
Taehyung chuckled but it was void of humor.

It was silent before Taehyung started speaking again.

"September 1st. You like the color black. You never told me but it was just something I caught on to after a while. You don't like onions. You push it aside whenever I make my soup or as of now, you took it out of your burger."

"You don't like wearing socks and you,— convince yourself that you love me."

"I d-do love you."

"If I asked you when Maddie's birthday was, would you give me an answer?"
Taehyung asked as he turned to Jungkook who's lips were in a thin line.

"I know that doesn't define how much you love a person but... it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt."

"I would like to go home now."
Taehyung mumbled before turning his body to the window.

Jungkook gulped, his hands were shaky. He messed up. Like really messed up.

Taehyung made a beeline to their room, shutting it without a care that he could awakened Maddie.

Jungkook was on the verge of tears as he slowly walked up the stairs.

"Jungkook,—"

"Is Taehyung okay?" Maddie asked softly, her hand on her protruding stomach.
"No. H-he's angry with me."
"Why?"
"I d-don't want to talk about it right now. I don't want to talk about it at all."
Jungkook said before walking inside their room, locking it.

He saw Taehyung on the bed with a sketchbook in his hands. The one his father gave him.
"I was going to give this to you this morning but you weren't here."
He extended his hand out.
"Don't open it until I'm asleep. I don't want to hear you try to convince me into,— you'll see."
Taehyung laid down in bed.

"We can still celebrate your birthday."
Jungkook said softly, he wanted to do everything he could to make up for his mistake.
"There's two hours left and I'm tired."
Jungkook bit his lip and sat next to Taehyung hips.

"I can sleep downstairs as your gift."
"Then I won't be able to sleep at all." Taehyung sat up and leaned forward.
"I'm not mad, Jungkook. How about you sing me to sleep as my gift?"
"I can't sing, Ta-"
"Did I fucking stutter?"

Suddenly, the picture of Taehyung in his fur coats and boots came into his mind. It felt like yesterday.

Taehyung smiled softly before pulling Jungkook down.
"Would you let me top as my birthday gift?"
"A-anything."
"Anything for me or anything just so that I'm not irritated with you anymore?"
"Both."

"Well, you're in luck. I don't like topping."
Jungkook let out an involuntary sigh as he wrapped his arms around Taehyung's waist.

"I'm sorry. For everything. I really am."
"It's fine, Kook." Taehyung said softly as he combed his fingers through his hair.

He felt dampness on his chest as he froze in spot.
"K-koo, don't cry, baby."
"I'm so sorry. I'm the worst h-husband bet. I'm the worst person ever."
"You're not. Don't do that to yourself. I'm bruiseless and I have no black eyes, you're good! So please don't cry. I didn't mean to,—"

"Don't apologize to me! I'm the one at fault."
"Don't cry, Koo." Taehyung whispered, carding his fingers through Jungkook's hair.
"Think of this as a lesson that you'll learn from, yea?"

"So if I forgive you right now, will you cry liek a wimp or change for the better?"
"I'll do whatever it takes to keep you by my side."
"You better." Taehyung chuckled as he pulled Jungkook's hair to make the raven's head tilt up at him.

"I've been very gracious and courteous with you lately, Jeon. But next time, you're done for. Understood?"
"Y-Yes."
Taehyung smiled before leaning down to kiss Jungkook.

"Good boy, now sing."
"What do you want me to sing?"
"Sing whatever you want."

Taehyung felt Jungkook nod against his chest and heard him clear his throat.

"Yeongwonhal jul arassdeon sarangdo jeomulgo
Ijen geu heunhan chingumajeo tteonaganeyo
Naiga deureoseo na eoreuni doena bwayo

Saramdeureun oneuldo gwageoe meomulgo

He continued singing various of songs until he heard Taehyung light snores. He looked up as a year past his eye.

I don't deserve you.
