XLIX - The Girl Who Didn't Belong

Hey guys! I'm sorry for such the long wait but I'm glad to finally publish this chapter! I've had to help out in a production of a play at my school but school's finally over and the plays all done so I'm glad to finally publish this!  ^u^ Hope you enjoy guys!

Many times had Viri considered escaping from Salem's Faction. She had known from the very start that she didn't belong there - And it seemed many other members of Salem's Faction had thought she didn't belong there either.

Felicity never seemed fond of Viri. Whenever Viri came close to her, Felicity's evil smirk would fade away to a disgusted frown. Felicity would often laugh whenever Viri was to get hurt while out on a mission with the other members of Team DVIL. Viri couldn't blame her. She thought of herself as the laughing stock of the faction. It was as if she was as treated as some sort of clumsy jester to Felicity.

It was obvious Zero despised Viri. He would glare at her a ton. But, Zero would never insult Viri much. Zero would often take his time to insult and scold Draven instead, often punching or slapping the young assassin.

Lorelei's hatred to Viri was a little less obvious. Lorelei would often act kind towards Viri one minute, and the next Lorelei would be insulting Viri behind her back.

Viri knew that practically everybody hated her in the faction. Tyrian would make cruel jokes about her, Watts would shake his head whenever Viri entered the room, Solana would glare, Rosalie would burst out laughing at the slightest thing Viri did, Red would make harsh comments on everything she did and Wendy would frown upon her and would try to find evidence in order to kick Viri out of the faction.

Even Ivy and Landon seemed to not be too fond of Viri. They would always cast looks of disappointment or "You-Know-You-Don't-Belong-Here".

Draven meanwhile seemed to be reluctant to speak to her, which Viri found odd. When Viri had first joined Salem's Faction, Draven seemed to be protective of her. And then he slowly began to change. He went through a stage of being a cocky and selfish assassin, but now, he was nothing like that.

Instead, he was growing more and more antisocial - It seemed her wasn't disappointed of her, but instead it seemed he just didn't care about her anymore.

Viri wondered whether it was Celenia who was changing him - But then she remembered that Celenia grew worried and scared for Draven. Viri couldn't quite pinpoint it until she officially met Zero. Of course it was Zero who was changing Draven. It was practically obvious how Draven would tremble at the mention of Zero.

Viri sighed as she walked through Salem's Domain. She had no friends here other than Raura. Raura was the only person who was nice to her now.

Solana glared at her as she passed. She folded her arms, and whispered to Rosalie. "She doesn't belong here, so why don't we just kill her?"

Rosalie giggled at the mention of "kill". "Rosalie would like that!" She exclaimed, laughing manically.

Viri took no notice of their conversation, and she walked on, until she come across Draven and Celenia's room. The door was open by a crack.

I guess I could try talking to Draven.

Slowly, she turned the doorknob and entered Draven and Celenia's room. Draven stood on the balcony. He sadly looked down at the Beowolves forming below him.

"Hi Draven..." Viri said shyly, amber eyes filled with a mix of fear and regret.

For a moment, Draven didn't bother to reply. He just continued to watch in horror at the angry Beowolves which were now slaughtering a small crow which had just fluttered past. Finally, Draven spoke. "What do you want?" He asked, not turning to face her.

"I-I just wanted to check on you, t-that's all..." Viri reluctantly replied.

Draven rolled his eyes. "First you yell at me because of my semblance, and now you decide you want to check on me even though you seemingly hated me a handful of days ago." He sighed, and slowly turned to face her. "I really don't get you Viri."

"The reason why I yelled at you because you were acting like a jerk then!"

"Damn right I was!" Draven folded his arms.

"Wait, what?" Viri stared at him, taken aback. "You'd really admit that?!"

"It was Zero, Viri!"

"I-I don't understand." Viri took a step back. "It can't be Zero. It was your own doing Draven that you were acting like a complete selfish murderer!"

"It wasn't! I didn't want to be selfish in the first place!" Draven shouted. He exhaled. "It was Zero's Semblance. Manipulation. He can manipulate people and make them into monsters if he wants to. He made me act like a goddamn bastard and kill somebody because I didn't want to do it! He made me into a monster Viri! And yet I never wanted to be monster!"

Draven slumped down onto the bed, and buried his face into his hands. "I don't even know where I belong."

Sadly, Viri moved closer to him, and sat down next to him. "I don't either Draven."

"You do know! You don't belong here Viri! You belong in Cinder's Rebellion! You haven't killed somebody! You're innocent!"

Viri fell silent, and stared down at her grubby turquoise sneakers. Draven had a point. She had committed so many crimes.

"You haven't been through any pain Viri! You're lucky!"

Viri opened her mouth to respond, shock running through her veins. She wasn't lucky! Her mother died and she doesn't belong ANYWHERE!

"What's she doing here?!" A cold voice snapped.

Viri turned and saw Celenia standing behind her and Draven. She was wearing a icy blue dress with black accents along with a silver pair of stiletto high heels.

"Draven, aren't we meant to be going out on our date soon?"

"Yeah, I know." Draven sighed.

Celenia placed her hands on her hips, brow furrowed. Draven got to his feet.

"But-!" Viri began.

"Just go Viri!" Draven exclaimed.

"Draven I-!" Viri began.

"You heard him Viri! Scram!!!" Celenia interrupted.

Viri got to her feet. She managed to hold back the tears as she walked out. Her head remained down. What had happened to her best friend?!
