XLIV - Memories

Night was drawing closer by the minute. Sadly, Ollie watched as the sun slowly faded away to the darkness of the night. It was so beautiful. He hated being cooped up in a hospital bed all day. His scars were healing fine, and yet he couldn't go see his friends. It made his heart fill with sorrow knowing that he couldn't see his best friends.

The door slowly opened, and a little light spilled through the room. A nurse walked in, beaming at Ollie. The nurse had bright bubblegum pink her and sky blue eyes which could pierce any source of darkness. She didn't look a day older than 22.

"Hello!" She happily cheered, striding over to Ollie. "How are you today?"

Ollie shrugged. "Fine I guess, Freya." He said blankly, not daring to make eye contact with the nurse.

Freya beamed even more. "Well, I'm happy to tell you that you're being discharged tomorrow morning!"

Ollie's eyes lit up slightly. "Really?"

"Yep! You'll be able to see your friends again! Your scars seem to be fine now and you don't look like you're in any pain."

"I wasn't in any pain in the first place." Ollie stated.

"As a nurse, it's my job to make sure that everybody is feeling their best." Freya sighed. "I know it must put a lot of anger onto you, knowing that you're feeling okay but nobody believes you." She perched on the side of Ollie's bed, and brushed a strand of her bubblegum pink hair away from her eyes.

Ollie didn't say a word, and continued to look out of the window.

"If you want, I can tell your friends that you're being discharged?" Freya asked hopefully.

Slowly, Ollie looked up into her sky blue eyes and nodded.

"Okay!" Freya smiled, and got to her feet. "You're a great person, by the way! Good night!" Without saying another word, she ran out of the room happily, her bubblegum pink hair flowing behind her as if a breeze had taken over the room.

The room slowly turned to darkness, and hours quickly ticked by...

Eight Years Ago

"We don't usually welcome people from Vacuo like you!"  A crowd of young boys and girls surrounded a six year old girl as she cowered in fear.

"Vacuo is nothing but a wasteland!" One of the girls laughed, placing her hands on her hips.

The six year old girl's eyes filled with fear as insult after insult was fired at her. Her emerald green eyes welled with tears. Laughter filled the air.

"Aw, look guys! She's crying!" One of the boys cried while smirking.

The girl tried to wipe the tears from her eyes, but she only cried more. Her fiery red hair only just brushed against her shoulders. She wore a bright blue t-shirt with a single white butterfly on it as well as white shorts, white socks and light pink sneakers.

One of the girls, who happened to have dirty blonde hair tied into two long pigtails, pushed to girl to the ground.

"HEY!" A voice shouted from behind the crowd of boys and girls. A young nine year old boy stood there, his bright sapphire eyes filled with anger. He had dark raven black hair, and he wore a red t-shirt with black shorts, a black jacket, black socks and dark navy blue sneakers. "Get away from her!"

"And what are you going to do about it Oliver?!" One of the boys snarled, cracking his knuckles in an attempt to seem tough.

The boy paused for a second. "I-If you don't stop hurting her, I'll tell my brother about you!" He shouted. "And my brother is going to Beacon Academy this year!"

The crowd of boys and girls suddenly looked at each other and fear.

"WAIT! You mean, Chad Crone is going to Beacon?!" The dirty blonde haired girl cried out. "Let's scram guys! I've heard Chad Crone is a pretty strong guy!" She shouted, and with that, she and the group of boys and girls ran off down the concrete path.

Oliver Crone sighed and shook his head, before looking over at the young girl. She looked up at him with her large emerald green eyes. He smiled at her, and walked over. He held out his hand. "Here." He said, helping her get to her feet. "Don't listen to them. They're just a bunch of morons." He frowned, glancing over to the distance where the group of bullies where screaming their heads off as they ran.

The girl wiped the tears from her eyes. "T-Thank you...." She said.

"You're welcome." Oliver smiled. "The names Oliver. Oliver Crone. But you can call me Ollie."

The girl smiled faintly. "My name is Jessica Ciane. But everybody else just calls me Jess."

"Want to go and get some ice cream?" Ollie asked.

Jess's eyes lit up. "Yes!"

Ollie grinned. "Race ya!" He said, and started to run off down the path.

"Hey, wait for me!" Jess cried, and ran after him while giggling.
