-Five months-
Zayn
"Louis will be back from the market any moment now." I told Harry, Morello, and Liam.

I called Liam a month ago, and told him about Louis'....situation.

Liam agreed to help me have a surprise baby shower for Louis, and I was quite satisfied with what we came up with.

Luckily, I still had some of Morello's baby stuff, and Liam knew someone who had plenty of baby hand me downs to give away.

Louis found out that one of the twins was a girl, and the other was a boy.

"We don't have to hide, do we? We're surrounded by baby stuff." Liam said, looking around.

"I can hide." Morello smiled, laying under the coffee table.

Harry was standing near the window, watching for Louis to come back.

"No, we've done enough." I nodded.

"How have you been?" Liam asked randomly, looking at me.

"Busy caring for a pregnant Louis, why?" I asked.

"Well...before you called me, we hadn't talked in months, Zayn." He said.

I noticed the way he looked at me, wanting to roll my eyes.

"Sorry. How have you been?" I made myself ask, hoping that would satisfy him.

"I guess I've been busy too. I got a dog-"

"Lou is here." Harry announced.

Morello giggled, covering her eyes.

I smiled at her, looking toward the door as Louis entered.

He paused in the doorway, looking around at everything.

"What's all this?" He asked, looking from me to Liam.

"It's for you." I said.

Liam nodded, smiling.

"Surprise!" Morello yelled, coming out from under the table.

Louis slowly smiled, chuckling slightly.

"I don't know what to say." He said, tears gathering in his eyes.

I patted Liam's shoulder, realizing that we'd done good.

"Lou, this is for the girl and that's for the boy." Morello told him, pointing to the different gifts.

"It's all lovely, thank you guys." Louis smiled after he wiped his eyes.

"You are welcome." Harry answered for us.

"You know, it probably would've been smarter to set all of this up at his house." Liam spoke up.

I paused.

"You're right." I said, realizing we'd have to move all of this stuff over to Louis'.

Louis chuckled. "You're still brilliant for getting all of this and surprising me."

"Thank you both, so much." He added.

"Anytime." I nodded, smiling.

"One of the guys I work with has a truck. I'm sure he'd let us borrow it to move everything." Liam said.

"I'm helping. I don't care how pregnant I am, the two of you aren't doing all of this." Louis said.

"With that truck it'll only take one trip." Liam shrugged. "Shouldn't be too much work. I'll go call." He said before he went out onto the front porch.

Louis sighed, still smiling. "This is incredible."

"D'you have the room ready for everything?" I asked.

"Well, the walls are a clean white colour, and everything's moved out of there. Basically I do. I was going to paint it...blue or pink but...I didn't realize I'd be having one of each so, guess I'll just leave it white." Louis said.

I nodded.

"Boys and girls like purple. It's for everybody." Morello said, showing Louis the purple bow in her hair.

"I see." Louis smiled at her.

Morello's eyes landed on Louis' stomach, and she walked over and gripped the bottom of his shirt.

"Your tummy is showing, Lou." She grunted, trying to get his shirt to cover his stomach.

"I don't own any maternity shirts. As a man I didn't think I'd ever need any." Louis sighed.

"Don't pull too hard, babe." I chuckled, noticing how Morello was struggling.

She gave up, looking up at Louis. "When will the babies be here?"

"They'll be here when it's cold." Louis said.

"But it's cold now." Morello frowned.

"It's only fall now, babe. He means winter time. When it gets really cold, and snows." I explained.

"January." Louis spoke up.

"You have to wrap them up, Lou. So they don't get cold." Morello told him.

"I'll make sure to do that." He chuckled, nodding.

"Hey, I'm going to get the truck and I'll be back with it in a little bit." Liam said, leaning in the front door.

"Okay, thank you." Louis said, resting a hand on his stomach.

Liam nodded once before he left again.

"I will cook while we wait." Harry announced, going into the kitchen.

-That night-
Louis
"Thanks for staying and helping with all of this." I said to Liam when we finally finished unloading everything and got the nursery set up.

"No problem. I don't really have much else to do. At least, not today." He replied.

Zayn chose to stay home with Harry and Morello when Liam returned with the truck.

Liam and I spent the last three hours fixing the nursery.

"Mind if I ask you a question, though?"

I looked at him. "Yeah?"

"Why are you living with Zayn and Harry? I mean, Zayn told me about the...evil alien and all of that, but he didn't explain why you're staying with them." Liam said.

"Oh, well...when I first found out about this I was terrified, honestly. Zayn said I could stay with him so I didn't feel so...alone." I explained.

"I definitely feel secure staying with them but...I do feel alone, honestly. I think about what it would be like to have the....thing who put these inside of me by my side, comforting me and helping me through it all. Like Harry did for Zayn." I said.

"But that'll never happen." I added, realizing I needed to shut up.

"Sorry." I said, looking back at Liam.

"I know I'm lucky to have you and Zayn, I'm not complaining, it's just....hard, you know?"

"I understand. There's no pain like loneliness." He said, looking into my eyes.

"It's worse when you're pregnant." I said.

"Isn't everything worse when you're pregnant?" Liam asked.

I chuckled. "Yeah, it is."

"In fact, I really need to sit down." I said, my swollen feet and aching back screaming at me to sit down.

"You're welcome to something to drink if you can find anything that hasn't gone out of date." I told him as I walked into the kitchen, sitting at the table.

"No, I'm alright. It's nice to talk to you again, though. After....Zayn and Harry got together it seems like we all drifted apart." He said, leaning back against the counter.

"Who is we all?" I asked, stretching my legs out.

"Me and Zayn, me and you. The three of us." He shrugged.

"Well, I would've stayed in touch but I got knocked up by an evil alien. I guess you could say I became a little...distracted." I said bitterly.

"I-I know, I'm not blaming you or anything, I just hate that we drifted apart. We were really close back when you first set me up with Zayn." He said.

"I know. I've missed our friendship, but I can't exactly go get drinks with you or get high with you anymore." I chuckled.

"But we can still hang out." Liam said.

"Of course." I said, looking at him.

He smiled a little. "Have you thought about baby names?"

"Not at all. I hope when I hold them for the first time I'll know." I said.

"There are websites out there that can help you choose a name, you know." Liam said.

"I wouldn't know. My time on the internet is spent on this silly anonymous chatting website." I admitted.

"Really?" He smiled.

"Hey, don't judge. There's not much I can do so I chat with people on the internet." I said.

"No, I'm not judging. I do the same thing. Actually, I've been talking to the same guy for months now." Liam said.

"Yeah? D'you think it's going anywhere?" I teased.

"I wish. We always have such great conversations, but he always goes distant when I talk about finally meeting in person. It's like, I might have finally found my soul mate but he's scared to meet in person." Liam said.

I stared at him. "What's the username?"

He chuckled. "It's a really interesting one. Babyblue432."

"What d'you think that means?" Liam asked, looking at me.

I fought back a laugh, keeping a serious expression.

"I think it means he used to be a stripper called baby blue." I said.

Liam frowned. "Like you?"

I smiled slightly. "Yeah, purple underscore turtle."

Liam blinked, and I could practically see the gears in his brain finally start to move.

"You're Babyblue432?" He chuckled.

I nodded, smiling. "Funny, isn't it?"

"I guess. Pretty strange, too. Why didn't you want to meet in person?" He asked.

"Because I'm pregnant and I figured that'd be a bit of a shock." I said.

"Oh. Well, for the record, I don't mind." He smiled.

I chuckled, looking at the floor.

"So...you're training to be a police officer?" I asked.

"Well, I made it, actually. I start tomorrow." He said, seeming excited.

"Nice." I smiled.

"So...I guess neither of us can get high anymore." He said.

"I can. First time I'm alone you better believe I'm going to light up. I may have to wait until these two are in school, but I don't care." I said.

Liam chuckled. "Are you sure you should be telling me this? I took an oath."

"But I'm your friend, I don't count." I whispered like someone was listening.

"I'll pretend I didn't hear you say it." He nodded.

"Alright, and I'll pretend you didn't ask me out on a coffee date. Twice." I smirked.

"I didn't know it was you, Louis." He chuckled.

"Oh? So if you knew, you wouldn't have asked?" I asked, giving him a look.

"I didn't say that." Liam said, looking at me.

"But that would be a bit weird, considering the fact that...you're sort of my wingman. Or, you used to be." He said.

"Right, I've retired." I sighed, rubbing my stomach.

"But, I wouldn't object if you wanted to go out for coffee sometime. Just as friends, and if you're paying." I smiled.

"Alright, but you'll have to get a small cup of coffee. Too much while pregnant isn't good for the babies." Liam said.

"How d'you know?" I scoffed.

"Well, when I was in college for the....few months I went before quitting, I took a lot of medical classes. I was always interested in pregnancy and infants so, I guess the knowledge stuck with me." He shrugged.

"You never told me that." I said, smiling a little.

"I never thought it would be relevant." He smiled.

"Well, feel free to come and be my live-in nurse once the babies are born." I told him.

"Seriously?" He chuckled.

I nodded. "Honestly, I don't know anything about babies. I know I should be doing research but...." I trailed off, shrugging.

"Well, I'd be glad to come and stay for a while to help out." Liam said sincerely.

"I like babies. Especially when they're not mine." He added.

I laughed at him, shaking my head. "Alright, thank you."

He smiled at me.

"No problem."

A/N: I'm not really feeling this chapter, but here it is. I guess you could say these last few chapters, and possibly the next, are the calm before the storm. Thoughts?
