Miguel sat across from Carmen and Johnny. His elbows on his knees as he waited for them to speak.

"Here's the thing." "We wanted..."

"You go." Johnny says

"No, you." Carmen says. Both of them hesitate.

Miguel raises his brows, "Someone should go."

"So your mom and I are hooking up." Johnny nods. Carmen narrows her eyes as she looks at him, "Not just hooking up. Uh, you see, when two people... When two people are... attracted to each other..."

"I get it, you guys are dating."

"Yeah, we're dating."

"Yes." Carmen sighs, "We didn't mean for you to find out like this."

"No. We were waiting for the right time and place. We wanted to take you to a nice restaurant, break the news somewhere nice. A Chili's or a Marie Callender's. A Red Lobster." Johnny rambles

"Miggy, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Uh, I think." Miguel nods, "Surprised. But also not super surprised since Jamie's had her suspicions." He smiles, "I would have chosen someone with, uh, better food in their refrigerator. But other than that, Sensei's a good guy. As long as you're happy, I'm happy."

"We are." Carmen smiles

"We're very happy." Johnny says

"Cool. Uh, can I get my water bottle now?" Miguel says as he points

"Yes."

"Okay." He nods before he gets up and walks out

"Listen up, nerds. Today's gonna be a world of pain." Johnny says as he walks in front of Eagle Fang. A girl walks up beside him, "Now everyone fall in. We have a new member joining us today. This is Devon Lee, our new female champion."

"Hi. My pronouns are she/her." She says

"The only pronouns we accept in this dojo are sensei and student."

"Those are nouns."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I think what I meant to say is 'Quiet!'"

Devon jumps, "That's an imperative."

"Get in line." He says. Devon hurries to fall in with everyone else. Before he can say anything else, the door opens again.

"Ms. Jackson." Johnny says. Miguel looks over and smiles as Jamie walks in, "Glad you could join us."

"Glad to be back." She nods with a sigh

"Alright," He says as he pats her shoulder, "fall in. Today's lesson is about cheating. At Eagle Fang Karate, we don't believe in fighting dirty. Cobra Kai doesn't follow the same rules. So we have to be ready for any dirty trick they throw at us."

Jamie smiles at Miguel before standing by Devon.

"Like when Chong Li threw dirt into Van Damme's eyes in Bloodsport." Devon says

"Exactly. Looks like someone did their prep work."

"And I saw the sequels too. Not to mention Delta Force, Billy Jack, The Octagon, and Lady Dragon. Cynthia Rothrock is a beast."

"Hell yeah, she is." Johnny smirks

"I saw Last Dragon." Mitch says

"Shut the hell up, Penis Breath!" Johnny yells, "Everyone, get ready, I'm gonna put you through the wringer. Except for you, Diaz. Up here with me."

Miguel frowns, "What?"

"The tournament's around the corner. Can't afford you getting hurt. This is gonna get a little dangerous. You be co-sensei today. Sound good?" He says as Miguel reluctantly stands by him. Jamie looks at him as he looks around upset.

"Okay, everybody. Get ready. Let's begin!"

Everyone, except Miguel, stood with one of their arms restrained to their chest. Jamie stood by Mitch as Devon and Bert stood in front of everyone.

"Cobra Kai pops out your shoulder, be ready to fight with one arm." Johnny says

"Like in Best of the Best!" Devon says. She kicks at Bert, but misses as he backs up.

"That's too far back and you're overextending your kick. Try it ag-" He's cut off by Devin landing a kick to Bert's arm.

"Ha!"

"Not bad."

"I pride myself on never making the same mistake twice." She says before she goes at Bert again 

"I-I can do this, Sensei." Miguel says

"I know, but you're way above this beginner stuff. Don't worry. You can help with the next lesson. All right?" Johnny says as he ruffled his hair before walking away.

Miguel sighs as he looks to Jamie who tilts her head.

The day went on with a couple more lessons. The boys took most of the pain, except for Miguel. Devon and Jamie were lucky enough to be the ones who inflicted pain on them.

"Good job today. Everyone ice up, we're back at it tomorrow." Johnny says before turning to Miguel, "Hey champ. Your mom wants us to have a family dinner tonight, so don't be home too late." Johnny nods before he walks off

"Must be nice being teacher's favorite." Mitch spits handing Miguel the ice

"Yeah. Is he gonna tuck you in?" Bert snaps before following behind Mitch.

Miguel sighs as he watches them walk away. Jamie stands up, "Don't worry about them. They're just butthurt."

"They're right though." He says, "Sensei's babying me and treating me differently."

Jamie takes the ice from him and sets it on the steps, "He's not babying you. He might be treating you a little different because of your Mom, but he knows your abilities."

Miguel looks down as he puts his hands in his pockets. Jamie walks closer and places both of her hands on his cheeks to raise his head.

"Don't think too much about it. He's just worried about upsetting your mom, it'll wear off, okay?"

Miguel nods, "Yeah."

Jamie pecks his lips before she smiles, "You're lucky anyway. Did you really want Devon and I kicking you in your nuts?"

Miguel cringes, "Don't say it like that, but definitely not."

"Okay then." She laughs as she lets her hands falls to grab his hands, "Don't be upset about it, it'll work itself out."

She leans up and kisses him again before pulling away. She holds his hand as she walks away, letting go at the very last second. He smiles softly before she turns away.

"It's like a Jekyll and Hyde situation. I was used to Sensei being like Mr. Hyde, now it's like he's a different person." Miguel says as he and Jamie walk the halls together.

"I think you should talk to him. He's probably feeling weird about the whole thing and doesn't know what's right and wrong. Just tell him how you feel." She says as they stop

"Miguel." The two look over and see Johnny walking toward them, "There you are. I've been looking all over for you. Hey, Ms. Jackson."

"Hi."

"What are you doing here?" Miguel says

"Field trip. You and me, let's go."

"It's the middle of a school day. I have history. I-"

"History's for nerds. Play hooky with me. I'll write a doctor's note, used to work for me. Come on, what do you say?"

Miguel looks to Jamie who nods toward him with raised brows. Miguel sighs, "Okay."

"All right, great. Don't worry, I'll bring him back in one piece." He says to Jamie who smiles at them before they walk off.

"JJ." Sienna calls out as she approaches her. Hawk not too far behind her.

"What's that about?" Hawk says referring to Johnny and Miguel

"There's some stuff going on with them. It's been awkward." Jamie sighs

"You know you should probably go with them."

"No, it's between them. I don't want to interfere with that."

"If there's one thing I've noticed about you guys, it's that Miguel leans on you for things like this. He'd want you there." Hawk nods. Jamie looks to Sienna who smiles at her.

"You should go. Don't even worry about your classes, I'll cover you." Sienna says

Jamie lets out a deep breath before she nods, "Yeah, okay."

"Okay."

Jamie chuckles before she's off to her car.

Jamie had no real idea where Johnny and Miguel were gonna be, so she took her chances of them being at the warehouse where they train. Luckily, she was right.

She waited for a little while before she entered the building.

"I wasn't sure if you were ready for it. It's a pain in the ass to master, but... You don't mind a little pain, do you?" Johnny says

"No, Sensei."

"Looks like the talk went well." Jamie says as she walks up

"Jamie." Miguel smiles

"Your mom know your here?" Johnny says

"Definitely not, but I'm a little rusty when it comes to this karate stuff so." She shrugs

Johnny smiles at her as he nods. Jamie looks to Miguel whose smile widens.
