Chapter 10

The past few mornings you've been spending time in Mr Kay's room with the others since you didn't really like sticking with people who didn't seem to like you. You were talking with Tori when Bronk came in and put Caswell in a head lock.

"Seems like you woke up on the right side of the bed," Tori smiled.

"Every side is the right side this morning," Bronk smiled. "This here is why!"

You and Tori looked at the duel pad.

"That's right, I completely forgot that was coming up," you said.

"That explains it!" Tori smiled.

"You bet it does Tori this is going to be the best duel tournament ever!" Bronk exclaimed. Caswell then started explaining the benefits of winning.

"And you'll really flip when you hear the next part! Mr Heartland himself promised to make the world duel carnival winners wish come true! No matter what!" Flip exclaimed.

"Really?" Tori exclaimed.

"I already know my wish it's going to be a wish for a hundred more wishes!" Flip smiled.

"I don't know if they would allow that," you replied.

"So who all is competing?" Tori asked.

Flip, Bronk, Caswell, and Cathy all pulled out there heart pieces.

"So everyone's in this!" Tori smiled.

"Not everyone," Yuma said from the door way. Astral just on the other side.

"Huh, what do you mean? Surely you're competing," Caswell said. Yuma looked absolutely defeated.

"Who me? I'm passing," Yuma said.

"Since when do you pass on dueling?" Tori asked.

"Since today! When the post man road right past my house without giving me that heart piece! Now the only flow I feel is the flow of tears!" Yuma cried.

"Yuma you are embarrassing me and I'm invisible," Astral said.

"That's how I feel! Invisible to the world!" Yuma cried.

"I don't get it. Why would you be the only one left out?" Tori asked. "Does Astral have any idea what might of happened?"

"They probably require all entrants to have some skill," Astral said.

"That's harsh," you said as you looked at Astral, but deep down you were trying your best not to laugh.

"Will someone please give me a hug!?!?!" Yuma cried.

You sighed and kneeled down next to Yuma and hugged him tightly.

"We'll figure this out together. Don't lose hope yet," you said softly. Yuma calmed down almost instantly.

"How do you always do that? The second I hug you I always feel calm," Yuma commented as you pulled away. "Hey you all should try giving Y/n a hug!"

"Yuma focus! Did you register?" Caswell now snapped Yuma back to reality.

"Did I register?" Yuma echoed.

"You know on the app? Through the website?" Caswell asked as he pulled up the site.

"I kind of thought it was a cool little picture, hehe," Yuma said nervously.

"Yuma quit mopping just apply right now!" Tori said.

"Oh yeah," Yuma went to typing his info.

"Thank you for applying! But registration is closed! Better luck next year!" Heartland exclaimed. Then full speed Yuma just ran. You were hot on his trail with the others lagging behind you two. You were cut off by Shark and his motorcycle.

You and Yuma both came to a sudden stop.

"Yuma what in the world are you doing?" Shark asked.

"What's it look like I'm doing! I'm totally freaking out!" Yuma exclaimed.

"Let me guess this has to do with the tournament?" Shark asked.

"He forgot to register," you said.

"Y/n! Not so loud!" Yuma covered your mouth. "Anyway you wouldn't happen to have an extra one of those heart pieces?"

"Afraid not. In fact I don't even have one for me," Shark said.

"What?" Yuma asked shocked.

"The only person I duel for now Yuma is myself," Shark said.

"Cool!" Yuma smiled.

"Later!" Shark drove off.

The others finally caught up to you two.

From there you made it to the Heartland gates. Yuma banged at the door begging for a heart piece.

"I think were going to be here for a while, anyone wanna play go fish?" you said pulling out a deck of playing card. The others smiled and agreed while Yuma continued to bang on the door. "You wanna watch Astral?"

Curiosity filling Astral he floated over to you. You shuffled the deck then dealt out the cards.

"This are not duel cards," Astral said.

"Nope! They're just normal playing cards," you replied.

"Whose first?" Tori asked.

"Person right to the dealer," you said.

"So I'm first! Caswell you got an ace?" Bronk asked.

"Go fish," Caswell said.

"So what is the point of this game? Because I do not see any fish," Astral asked.

"The goal is to get as many pairs possible. They're is four of each card in the deck. Then whoever has the most at the end wins," you explained.

"Hmmm, I see," Astral said. Astral watched with curiosity.

Eventually Yuma even had security guards on his case.

"He's really determined isn't he?" Tori asked.

"Yeah," you all softly agreed.

"Hey Bronk you got any queens?" Flip asked.

"Go fish," Bronk replied. Flip sighed reluctantly taking a card from the pile.

"Huh? Hey look!" Caswell pointed at the door. You all turned your attention to the door as it started to glow and separate.

A bunch of litter bots with trumpets came out with a float behind them. Mr Heartland stood on the float with two other.

"Woah no way!" Tori exclaimed.

"That's Mr Heartland isn't?" Caswell asked.

"It just can't be!" Flip exclaimed. Mr Heartland seemed to be soaking in the glory until Yuma spoke,

"Hey dude!"

"Hey Dude?!" Heartland exclaimed, clearly offended.

"Yuma," You sighed.

"Mr. It's Mr Heartland," One of the security guards said.

"Mr? Then what do they call his dad?" Yuma asked.

"Say it!" Another guard exclaimed.

"Fine, hey Mrs Heartland!" Yuma smiled smugly.

"Mr!"

"Sorry it's just when I see the color suit that you're wearing I think Mrs. But anyways now that you're I was wondering if I could have a heart piece! Pretty please!!" Yuma begged.

"That's exactly what I came here for!" Heartland dropped the Heart piece for Yuma.

Yuma's face lit up.

"Guys I did it!" Yuma smiled.

"That pendant you have around your neck, it's an odd shape," Heartland commented.

"Huh? it was a gift from my mom and dad," Yuma said.

"Ah I see! How lovely!" Heartland exclaimed. "Well you kids have a nice day now!"

You all headed back to school only getting into a little bit of trouble, but really they should have a bigger security system in place if they're really that concerned.

"See you guys tomorrow," you said as you parted ways with Yuma, Astral and Tori.
