"wretched child, perhaps we would've been better off without taking you in."

"what.." anne said, barely audible, before letting her temper get the best of her. she ran out of the door, slamming it shut.

at first she had no idea where she was going to go, none of her friends would want to help her. so she just decided to go to the cliff, where she would normally let her anger out.

as she came closer, she noticed a figure stood quite close to the edge, watching the ocean waves crash into the sand.

the closer she got, the more she realised that the figure was a tall boy, with brown curly hair.

"gilbert?"

the boy turned around and locked eye contact with the emotional red head.

"anne?"

they stared at eachother for a moment longer before gilbert spoke, "are you alright? are you crying?"

anne's knees felt like jelly, causing her collapse to the ground in tears.

she felt a strong pair of arms wrap around her, and she realised they belonged to gilbert.

she cried into his chest, letting it all out.

gilbert was stroking her hair, whispering reassuring things to her.

once she had calmed down, gilbert lifted her chin up, making her look him in the eyes. butterflies erupted in her stomach.

"what happend that has made you this way anne?"

"it doesn't matter.." anne said, wiping tears from her eyes.

"please, anne, you can trust me. i swear." gilbert pleaded.

"well, i- um.."

anne told gilbert the events prior, how the argument started and how marilla said that she would of been better off with out her.

the broken red haired girl began to cry again, wrapping her arms around gilbert once more.

"nobody loves me." she said between sobs.

"oh anne, there's loads of people who love you." gilbert said, nodding his head.

"like who?" anne sniffled.

"well, diana loves you, she's your kindred spirit."

"she won't love me forever though, she'll easily forget about me when she moves to college, and meets better bosom friends than me." anne said, tears threatening to fall again.

"i'll love you for infinity." gilbert whispered.

anne was shocked. did gilbert just say he loved her?

"you will?"

"dearest anne, what is there not to love about you? i love your red hair, i love your beautiful mind, i love everything about you."

"you do?"

"i do."

"i love everything about you too gilbert blythe."
