Louis POV

As soon as Dani and Harry were out the door I eerily turned back inside. "So, tell me why my brother just ran out of here like he just met the devil himself?" I gave Maria a stern look.

She looked toward the entrance to the kitchen, where a tall, dark haired woman walked out. Without ever seeing her before, I recognized her immediately. And suddenly I realized what Dani meant when she was warning me before we entered the house. "Or the devil herself."

"Brother? That's peculiar because I don't remember having 2 boys?" The woman teased.

"Nephew? Same thing, really. He's only a few years younger, it's just weird." I shook my head.

She let out a loud laugh and stepped a bit closer. Much closer than I was okay with. "Louis, I'm Harry's mother."

"Trust me, I knew that as soon as I saw your despicable face in my home."

"Lou, don't be so hostile." Maria urged quietly.

"Sorry, where are my manners?" I scoffed incredulously, "Would you like a place to sleep tonight? I can warm the oven up. It's a tight fit but it should be plenty for you."

"I'm here to make amends, not piss anyone off." She shook her head at me.

"Did it ever occur to you that we are already pissed off?"

"Maybe you. Maria and I have already talked things out. I think you might benefit from getting to know me." Her voice was soft. But even her presence felt like a wall of negative energy that I refused to let Harry, or even Dani, take part in.

"And what about Harry? Have you even thought about the emotional damage you left with him? Did it not soak through your skull that your own son fled the scene at the mere sight of you? Same goes for you Maria! You let a curious, naive, teen boy in through these doors knowing that his worst nightmare was behind a few walls! Absolutely disgusted by that." I went on a rampage.

"Louis, there is nothing for him to be afraid of anymore."

"He would never know or believe that." I retaliated.

"Would you let her explain?" Maria demanded.

I covered my face with my hands. "Jesus Maria. We leave for a month and suddenly you've become besties with the one person you've worked yourself up to be better than. You wanted to be better than her but instead you befriend her."

Maria stayed silent. Her big eyes stared with innocence and guilt. But I wasn't falling for any of it.

"And you! You get out of prison and just decide 'hey let me visit the kiddo whose life I ruined like 12 years ago and he'll probably forgive me even though I scarred him for life!' Right? Did you come here to apologize? Because the apology is not accepted!" I was raging.

"No, no, no." She shook her head.

"You're not apologizing?" I was bewildered.

"Well I am, but you have the story all wrong." She sighed.

"Oh really? Please correct me then." I shrugged angrily.

She nodded. "Very well then." I gave a mean glare as she continued. "After many years, a man least expecting began visiting me. Every Tuesday for 3 years he came in and we spoke. It started off violently and slowly eased into old times, where we got along pretty well. He established himself to become very wealthy and eventually decided that he loved me enough to bail me out. 2 years ago I was released and I began my journey with him and his daughter, whom I both loved very much.

"A year ago I decided enough was enough and I wanted to find my Harold. And after much determination I was able to contact Maria and I'm here today to finally treat Harry the way he deserves and offer him a very special surprise."

"He's not interested." I immediately spat out.

She looked taken back and I nodded. "I know Harry, and he wants nothing to do with you or whatever you want to offer him."

"I'm sure he does. Here." She reached under the coffee table and handed me a large yellow envelope. I reached inside and pulled out a collection of papers. The smallest one being a check, with about as many zeros as digits in a phone number.

"That is petty offerings and you know anyone would take this. Easy way out, I guess." I snarled in disbelief. "And what's this? A picture?"

I glanced at the four faces of the photograph. "That's his father and I, Harry of course, and little old Gemma."

"Gemma?" I was immensely confused.

"Oh dear." She sighed, then took a few steps closer to me. I backed away with each step she took. "Don't walk away!" She frowned.

"Don't approach me, you loon!" I grunted. Her and Maria were appalled. It would take more than some money and papers in an envelope before I would ever find respect for her. And frankly, that would most likely never happen.

She kept her mouth shut, which I was very thankful for to say the least. Her and Maria had found themselves seats on the couch as I sat on the table and analyzed every scrap in the packet for almost an hour. Newspaper articles, handwritten notes, small trinkets from when he was a child and other things that were nonsense to me.

There was a small knock at the door. His mother looked over along with Maria, who was about to stand up. "It's open." I blocked my hand in front of Maria and called for them.

Dannica gracefully stepped inside and looked back out the door. "He is going to stay out there until he's ready." She acknowledged me. The door stayed open.

"How's it going?"

"It's going." She forced a defeated smile. "He was ready to come back. Not sure when he will join us though."

I smiled in admiration at her kindness. The amount of worry she held for him was more than obvious, and quite endearing.

"Hello." Harry's mother greeted Dannica. She crinkled her eyebrows together and scoffed.

"Greetings." She was barely able to say that much.

"A good friend of theirs? A girlfriend? Please introduce yourself, you're such a pretty young lady."

"Why don't you?" Dani snapped.

"Mrs. Styles. You can call me Chloe." she stood up from the seat and approached her. Chloe offered a handshake but Dannica just stared down at her hand as if it were some foreign gesture.

"Dannica." Dani seethed.

"Probably the most important person in Harry's life, and yes that beats you by a million." I smirked up at her.

"So a girlfriend? Without manners, I suppose." She finally put her hand down since Dani was still refusing to shake, and turned her head to face me. "Both of you." She added on.

"That's no way to get on anyone's good side." I replied.

"You're right." She surrendered her hands in the air. "I apologize. I'm here for amends not to make enemies."

Chloe took a seat on the sofa and kept her mouth shut once again. After 2 long minutes of silence, Harry's steps were quiet as he entered the house.

"Oh, Harry!" His mother exclaimed. He cringed immediately and stepped backwards, ramming into the door.

"Hush!" Dani scolded her. I laughed to myself. She ran over to him and grabbed his hand. He clenched back and they walked to the love seat next to the sofa together. Harry sat and stared at his mother. They made eye contact.

He didn't break it at all, and we could see the tension in his jaw and the way he fidgeted with his fingers in his lap. A tear rolled down his cheek and Dani leaned over to wipe it.

"Don't cry." His mother shook her head and softly spoke.

Dani seemed angered by that comment, but she kept it to herself. "Don't-" Harry began.

"Don't tell me what to do." He stared at the floor.

"I just meant-"

"Shut up!" His volume went from zero to one hundred in a matter of seconds. She covered her mouth in shock. Even Dani was surprised by his outburst. I was secretly rooting for him in my head.

"You are-" he paused. He shook his head and leaned it to the side to rest on Dannicas shoulder. "I can't." He sighed.

"Listen Harry. I brought you many things. Including an apology and everything I never got to tell you. But I want you to look through this first." she gave him the envelope.

He placed the check and a smaller envelope in Dani's hand while he sorted through it quickly. "I don't care for any of this." He whispered lowly, throwing them off to the side after 2 second glances.

"Not even what's in Dannica's hands?" She questioned.

Dani handed him the check and proceeded to open the envelope. "I don't want this?" His eyes filled with tears.

"Plane tickets?" Dani asked once it was open.

"I want you to fly back home. To visit me, your father and Gemma. We want to spend time with you, Harry. They miss you."

He began to cry even harder. It was painful to watch someone like him being absolutely miserable and vulnerable.

"You're crying and declining money? A paid trip to see your family? You haven't even said hello and it's been over a decade. There's much to say but you won't say much!" Chloe exclaimed in a frenzy of panic.

Maria settled her down for a moment. Harry stood up and wiped his face. "I could say a million things. And you would hate every last one. You obviously don't understand what you did to me. I have suffered years beyond years after you were gone, all because of you. And a beautiful girl suffered years because of that and on top of that, a few times because of the same reasons. I never wanted to see your face again and that was only out of anger and spite. But now you offer money? Is that an apology? Or pity? I don't want your damn money, I'm doing just fine. And if they wanted to see me so desperately, they can come here themselves. But with warning, not unannounced- because they have no entitlement and neither did you. You think you're doing good but you're just filled with so much venom that not even your sincerest apologies are heartfelt. They're congested with your own selfish poison. And right now I don't know if I'm more angry at your peace offerings or the fact that I am face to face with a stone cold, evil bitch!" he spat with his last words.

Her hand instantly became attached to his face with a loud smack. "You don't speak to your mother like that!" She pinched his mouth by each cheek between her fingers.

He clawed her hands away and clenched his fists together tightly. "Harry don't do something stupid!" I screamed and leapt in front of Chloe so that he wouldn't start a fight.

His first punch was right in front of my face-
