Mission 4: The Uninvited One

"Hey, since Jaune took those nunchaku with him in the last episode, do you think he'll use them against his enemies now?" Nora asked, as the Beacon Academy students settled in to watch the next episode.

"It's possible," Blake said with a shrug. "I'm not sure why he would, though, since he already has Crocea Mors."

"Hey, you can never have enough weapons!" Ruby declared. "I say, if he's going to find the weapons of people who died, he might as well put them to good use."

"At the very least, he can return them to their next of kin afterwards," Ren suggested.

"You guys do realize that the answers to all your wondering are going to be answered by this show, right?" Abe asked the students.

"Yeah, but sometimes it's fun to speculate, you know?" Yang told him. "But go ahead and put on the next episode. I want to see what happens next!" Abe nodded, then selected the fourth episode, entitled "The Uninvited One."

The episode started back at the Headmaster's Office, just as the last episode had begun. Adam Taurus continued to stand at the edge of Beacon Academy's tower, still looking down at the courtyard far below. The bull Faunus sighed heavily through his nose as he stared at the corpses of eight White Fang Grunts sprawled out on the cobblestone, all horribly mauled and a couple missing entire pieces of their bodies.

"I guess things didn't go so well for the White Fang," Pyrrha muttered, grimacing at the carnage.

"I am not about to mourn the loss of a couple more terrorists," Weiss said flatly, ignoring the pointed look Blake gave her. "Honestly, if they were foolish enough to head into Grimm-infested ruins knowing fully well that their Aura was unlocked, then they have no one to blame but themselves for their deaths."

As Adam studied the courtyard more closely, he noticed a trail of red rose petals stretching across the ground. The bull Faunus clicked his tongue as realization dawned upon him, before he turned to Watts, who was busy studying some blueprints.

"It seems we have an uninvited guest," Adam announced. Watts looked up from his blueprints.

"Is that so?" he commented. The bull Faunus nodded.

"Yes. Jaune's little flower friend, whatever her name is."

"Seriously?! My name's Ruby Rose! I've got a whole rose motif and everything!" Ruby whined, folding her arms across my chest. "It can't possibly be that hard to remember my name, right?"

"It is if he doesn't care, which I'm pretty sure is the case here, Rubes," Yang told her younger sister.

Watts folded up his blueprints, tucking them into his coat pocket.

"Well, I am certain you will be able to handle her, should she decide to trouble us," he assured Adam. "I believe you have defeated her before, if I am not mistaken. Now, I must get going. To access the Vault Ozma sealed the Relic inside, I must restore power to the elevator. Of course, we will also need a special keycard, as well, so I believe I will have my hands full for an hour or so. Please, excuse me." Watts turned away from the bull Faunus, heading for the elevator shaft on the opposite side of the tower. "A storm is approaching," he murmured, glancing up at the black clouds that were beginning to gather in darkening sky overhead. This statement caused Adam to look back at him for a second.

"Sounds like Ruby and Adam have a history in this reality," Nora said through a mouthful of popcorn. "I wonder what that was all about?"

"Evidently, it couldn't have been anything good, if the two came to blows over it," Blake sighed. "I'm honestly impressed Ruby made it out of an encounter with him alive..."

"Well, I wouldn't worry," Pyrrha assured her. "Jaune's got a score to settle with Adam too, from what I can tell. That should even the odds a little!" She pointed at the screen. "And there he is now."

The scene changed to show Jaune approaching the steel doors of the Beacon Academy elevator, which would take him up to the Headmaster's office. He reached out a hand to press the button meant to call the lift, only to stop as he took in the darkness around him, a clear indicator that the academy's power was out. Then he noticed there was a special slot on the button panel, where one was meant to insert a keycard for proof of identity.

"I should've known it wouldn't be that easy," the Huntsman sighed. "I imagine the White Fang will fix the power problem themselves, but I'll still need a keycard to access the elevator. And unfortunately for me, I lost my Student ID for this place during the Fall of Beacon." Jaune stopped to think for a moment, putting a hand to his chin. "The dorm rooms should be to the left of here," he mused. "Maybe someone left theirs behind when the Grimm overran this place..."

"That could work," Ren admitted. "The elevator panel cannot verify whether or not the person using a keycard is the actual owner, so he should be able to fool the machine into allowing him access."

"Once Mr. Mustache restores power to the academy, anyway," Yang pointed out.

"Which begs the question: how did Taurus and Watts manage to get to the Headmaster's office in the first place?" Weiss demanded. "The power to the academy has to have been out ever since the Fall of Beacon, and neither of them were former students, as far as I can tell..."

"Maybe Watts has a Semblance that allows him to fly, or something," Ruby suggested.

"Well, the dorms are as good a place to start as any," Jaune determined. "Hopefully, by the time I find a Student ID, the power will be back on." With that, the Huntsman turned and headed left, heading for the student dorms. It was not long before Jaune reached the long hallway full of doors where he had once shared a school year with his friends and teammates. Something immediately stood out to the Huntsman, though, and that was the fact that all of the dorm rooms were open. In fact, the doors themselves were gone, all smashed to pieces by something heavy, based on the scuff marks around their frames. "Whatever did that had to have big and strong," Jaune determined, folding his arms across his chest as he took in the sight before him. "I should be on my guard..."

"Agreed," Blake said seriously. "I'd like to believe the White Fang were the ones that busted down those doors, but the remains of them looks much older than the entirety of the time they've been here."

"Plus, I think Jaune would've heard them doing that before he got there," Yang added.

Jaune moved from room to room, doing a quick but thorough search of the dorms for a keycard- opening nightstand drawers, checking desktops, shaking out the bedsheets, and anything else he could think of. But as he finished pushing the bookshelf of the last room away from the wall, to see if anything had fallen behind, he was met with nothing but disappointment.

"No luck," the Huntsman groaned, leaving the room in defeat. As he exited the dorm, though, he turned to look at the staircase off to his left, leading up to the second floor.  "Oh, yeah! I almost forgot the dormitory was two stories tall," Jaune laughed. "Maybe there's still a chance!" His spirits raised, the Huntsman charged up the staircase, eager to continue his search.

"How could he forget about the second floor?" Weiss demanded. "He lived on the second floor!"

"Hey, give him a break!" Nora defended her team leader. "He hasn't been to Beacon in five years! People can forget details like that, right?"

"Yeah, but to be fair, Jaune is a little clueless, sometimes," Ren reminded her.

"No kidding," Pyrrha said to herself, thinking about all the times Jaune had failed to pick up or her cues.

When Jaune reached the second story of the dormitory, he found it to be much the same as the first- a long row of rooms with the doors smashed open. However, the hallway also had a trail of red rose petals covering the ground, causing the Huntsman to smile.

"Well, it looks like Ruby dealt with the Grimm lairing here already," Jaune said happily, before he stopped to consider why she would be at the dormitory to begin with. "Of course, if she was here, then that means she was probably looking for a keycard too, which means that there probably aren't any around here anymore. Which means my entire trek over here was for nothing." The Huntsman was not smiling anymore, and his shoulders sagged as he realized his search just got much more difficult.

"I'm sorry, Jaune!" Ruby called to the screen. "I didn't mean to make things harder for you!"

"I wouldn't worry, Ruby," Pyrrha assured her. "I don't think Jaune will hold that against you."

With a sigh, Jaune turned to head back down the stairs. An instant later, he dropped down on one knee, to avoid a burst of machine gun fire that whizzed over his head.

"Whoa!" Nora yelped. "What was that?!"

[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]

"There he is!" a White Fang Grunt snarled, pointing at Jaune with one hand as he brandished his sword in the other.

"I can't wait to watch you bleed, Blondie!" another of the Faunus sneered. This one was dressed differently, sporting a red sleeveless jacket instead of the standard white, and was wielding a spear instead of a cutlass. "You know what our orders are! Kill him!"

"Well, that guy looks different," Yang commented. "What is he, like a captain, or something?"

"No, but I've only ever seen those uniforms worn by the personal bodyguards of the White Fang High Leader," Blake explained. "I think she calls them her Sentries. She must have leant a few of them to Adam for this mission."

"Meaning they are probably tougher than the average initiates," Weiss determined. "Wonderful..."

Jaune grit his teeth as he pulled his scabbard off his belt, unfolding it into a shield. Instead of drawing Crocea Mors, though, he instead unhooked Neon's nunchaku from his belt, giving it a few twirls to excite the Dust in the rods.

"Bring it!" the Huntsman challenged the White Fang Grunts.

"So Jaune's gonna use that weapon after all!" Ruby's silver eyes glimmered in excitement.

"Ooh, this is gonna be so good!" Nora said, grinning cheekily.

The leading White Fang Grunt leveled his machine gun at Jaune's chest, and opened fire. The Huntsman stood firm, holding his shield out in front of him to block the spray of bullets as he charged his attacker, before snapping the nunchaku forwards. The rod connected with the Faunus's firearm, encasing the weapon it in ice, along with its owner's hands. The Grunt looked down at his arms in shock, allowing Jaune to pivot into a kick that launched Faunus down the staircase.

"Nice one, Jaune!" Pyrrha cheered.

Two more White Fang Grunts were quick to take their fallen comrade's place, both slashing at Jaune with their cutlasses. The Huntsman backflipped out of the way of their attacks, before striking the Faunus closest to him in the ankle with the nunchaku, freezing her foot to the floor. As the other Grunt lunged at him, Jaune knocked aside their wild slice with his shield, before driving its base into the Faunus's face, shattering their mask and knocking them unconscious.

"Sorry buddy, but three is a crowd," the Huntsman joked, just as the other Grunt used her cutlass to shatter the ice encasing her foot. "Don't worry, I didn't forget about you," Jaune told her, dropping his shield to block her overhead strike with the nunchaku's chain, before tilting the rods up to freeze her weapon's blade, causing it to snap in two with a quick twist of his hands. The Huntsman then dropped into a sweep kick, sending her crashing to the ground. Another kick sent the Faunus tumbling down the staircase, to join the other.

"Man, those nunchaku are super cool!" Yang said, as the rest of the students groaned. "Get it?"

"Unfortunately," Ren lamented.

The fourth White Fang Grunt stormed forward, unsheathing his cutlass as he did so. Jaune quickly stomped on his shield's edge, making it to flip upwards and strike the Faunus on the wrist, which in turn caused him to drop his sword. Undeterred, the Grunt simply growled and threw his other fist at the Huntsman's face. Jaune ducked under the punch, before bringing his foot up between the Faunus's legs. With a pained gasp, the Grunt doubled over, cupping his hands over his groin. Using this to his advantage, the Huntsman snapped the nunchaku forward, freezing the Faunus's hands in place. Jaune simply grabbed the Grunt by the hood, and shoved him face first into the ground, knocking the Faunus out.

"That was dirty!" Weiss gasped, stunned that Jaune had resorted to such underhanded tactics.

The red-hooded White Fang Sentry his head, before pointing his spear out in front of him.

"Oh well. You and me, then!" he snarled, before bursting up the stairs, thrusting his weapon at Jaune's chest. The Huntsman sidestepped the attack, then brought the nunchaku back and snapped it towards the spearman's head, only for the Faunus to shove his spear's shaft in front of the icy rod, blocking the strike. He followed up with a strike to Jaune's head with the blunt end of his weapon, causing the Huntsman to stumble backwards. Sneering, the Sentry charged forward, thrusting his spear at Jaune's chest again. The Huntsman jumped backwards, landing on his shield's edge, flipping it up into the air again. This time, though, Jaune grabbed his shield and held it out in front of him, putting away the nunchaku to unsheathe Crocea Mors instead.

"Smart thinking," Pyrrha praised. "Stick with the weapons you're good at when facing a more-skilled adversary."

"I think Jaune's got this in the bag, now," Nora said with a smile. "He may have less range than a spear, but the shield should take care of that problem."

"You're still struggling?" the Sentry scoffed, twirling his spear over his head. The Faunus lunged forward, driving his spear at Jaune's chest twice in quick succession. The Huntsman firmly held his ground, bracing his shield in front of himself, which the spear's blade bounced harmlessly off of. Jaune followed with a downward slash, which the Apex blocked by driving his weapon's shaft upward to intercept the sword. Growling, the Faunus swung his spear low, trying to sweep the Huntsman's legs out from under him. In response, Jaune backflipped over the attack, then slammed his shield into the Sentry's face, sending him toppling over backwards.

"Yeah! Way to go, Jaune!" Ruby cheered. "Keep it up!"

The Sentry swore as he pushed himself back onto his feet in time to shove his spear out in front of him to knock away a horizontal slice from Jaune, who was now pressing the offensive. The Faunus followed with a downward strike from his own weapon, but the Huntsman simply bashed the attack away with his shield before kicking the Sentry in the ribs, causing him to skid backwards with a wheeze.

"You son of a bitch!" the Faunus howled. "I'll kill you!" He charged forward, bracing his spear out in front of him to impale Jaune on, but the Huntsman simply leapt into a side roll, using the Sentry's momentum to get behind him. The Faunus gasped and turned around, just in time to be caught by a spinning slash from Jaune as he rose off the ground. The force of the Huntsman's blow was enough to snap the Sentry's spear in two, and send him spiraling to the ground.

"Had enough? Or are you thirsty for more?" Jaune taunted.

"Ha! Got 'em!" Yang whooped.

"If that is the best a Sentry can offer, the High Leader might want to look into better bodyguards," Ren commented.

"Well, she really doesn't need them, being a capable combatant herself," Blake told him. "They're mainly there to look imposing and back her up, if there's more than one attacker."

"Arrogant asshole..." the Sentry growled, before pushing himself back onto his feet. "I'm not done yet!" His hand flew down to his belt to unholster a pistol, taking aim at Jaune, who readied his shield in response. But before the Faunus could even fire off a single shot, he was unexpectedly constricted by a large, white serpent head that burst out of one of the dorm rooms. The Sentry screamed as the giant snake shook him back and forth, before hurling him up in the air, only to snap its jaws shut around him, swallowing him whole.

"Whoa!" Nora yelped. "What just happened?!"

"That poor Faunus just got eaten!" Ruby told her, looking sad. "He may have been Jaune's enemy, but he didn't deserve that!"

The white serpent's tongue flicked out of its mouth, as though licking its lips, before turning towards Jaune, opening its jaws wide to grin at him with its two large fangs. As the Huntsman held up his shield and bent his knees, ready to face the giant snake, the head of a black serpent slowly slithered out from one of the open doorways behind him, and poised back, ready to strike.

"Look out, Jaune!" Pyrrha cried.

As the black serpent lunged forward, Jaune quickly jumped up, back flipping over the attack to land in a crouch behind the snake. Both of the serpents hissed in displeasure, readjusting themselves so that a wall of white and black scales blocked off the opposite end of the hallway, trapping the Huntsman.

"King Taijitu, huh?" Jaune commented, glaring at the two snake heads in front of him. "I just beat a beast with one more head than you, you know. You really want to try me?"

"Are King Taijitu dangerous?" Weiss asked. "I have never faced one before."

"They are fast, despite their size, and their scales make them very durable," Ren told her. "However, their only method of attack is to bite, and their heads have all their weak spots."

There was a brief standoff between Jaune and the twin heads of the King Taijitu, before the white snake head lunged forward, trying to ram the Huntsman. Jaune held his shield up, and used Aura to reinforce his legs, allowing him to block the serpent's attack, before following up with a slash to the top of its head. Though his blade was mostly stopped by the large, armored scales, he still managed to slice a gash into the white snake's head, causing it to hiss in pain and recoil. The instant it did so, though, the King Taijitu's other head lunged forward, the black serpent rising up and descending upon the Huntsman, intending to swallow him whole. Jaune slid out from under the black snake, and slashed it across the neck, though his sword only left another superficial wound.

"Dang, you guys are tough, aren't you?" the Huntsman huffed, before bringing up his foot into an Aura-enhanced kick that caught the white snake head in the jaw, as it attempted to snag him from behind. "I've got to find a way to break through your armor, or we'll be here all day!" he grunted, tossing his shield into the black serpent's snout as it slithered towards him, following up with a few shots from Ebony to force it backwards. "And I think I have just the thing..." Jaune said slyly, before pulling out Neon's nunchaku a second time.

"Oh boy, more nunchaku action!" Nora cheered. "Sock it to 'em, Jaune!"

The King Taijitu's two heads hissed and snapped at Jaune, sizing him up as he twirled Neon's nunchaku in one hand. Then the white snake head lunged forward, trying to snap shut around the Huntsman. Jaune leaped up over its lunge, then slammed his feet down on the top of its head, forcing its mouth shut. He followed with three rapid strikes to the serpent's skull with the nunchaku, forming a large icy casing atop its head. With a grin, the Huntsman reversed his grip on Crocea Mors, this time causing the blade to sink in up to the hilt as it shattered through ice, scales, and bone alike. The white snake shrieked in pain, and flailed to and fro, causing Jaune to lose his grip on his sword and tumble to the ground. Seizing this opportunity, the King Taijitu's other head lunged toward him.

"Oh no!" Blake cried.

"Wait, it's okay, Blake!" Ruby assured her teammate. "Look!"

Jaune managed to roll out of the way of the black serpent's lunge, and as it turned to face him, launched an icicle from the nunchaku that embedded itself in the snake's eye, causing it to go berserk, snapping and writhing as it made a beeline toward the Huntsman, lifting its head up before swinging it down, trying to smash him. In one fluid motion, Jaune spun out of the way of the attack and then arched his leg around to kick the end of the icicle, sending it tearing through the black serpent's head and bursting out its other eye to shatter against the wall. The snake reared up, and then went limp and fell upon the floor, its tongue lolling out of its mouth.

"Ha! That should even the odds a little bit!" Yang declared.

"It's one-to-one, now," Pyrrha said. "Come on, Jaune, finish that freak off!"

Despite the fact that Crocea Mors was currently lodged in its white head, the King Taijitu let out a hiss, and began to slither towards Jaune, dragging the dead black serpent behind it. The Huntsman raised an eyebrow.

"Well, you're certainly determined, I'll give you that much," he conceded. With another hiss, the white serpent reared up and flicked its tongue, preparing to strike. Jaune quickly flipped Neon's nunchaku up into the air, letting it spin like a propellor, before grabbing the weapon as it descended and smashing both rods into the ground, just as the snake head lunged forward. A large ice spike burst out of the ground in front of the Huntsman, impaling the serpent through the neck just before its mouth could snap shut around Jaune. The King Taijitu's body thrashed, slamming the black snake head against the walls, floor, and even the ceiling, before the white serpent let out a dying gurgle, and went still. Slowly but surely, the King Taijitu's body melted into sludge, coating most of the hallway in an inky black puddle, leaving behind the partially digested remains of the White Fang Sentry as it did so.

"Eww!" Ruby cringed, sticking out her tongue. "That is so nasty!"

"I never did understand why Grimm disintegrate upon death," Ren admitted. "Does the lack of a soul that cause their bodies to become unstable? Or perhaps since they come from another world, their remains return there upon death..."

"Well, whatever the reason, at least it saves us the trouble of cleaning up their carcasses!" Nora stated with a grin.

"Well, that takes care of that," Jaune declared, retrieve his sword from where it had fallen, sheathing it and reverting his shield back a scabbard, before hanging it from his belt. "But I still need a keycard to access the elevator, and it looks like Ruby already cleared out these rooms, well, except for the King Taijitu, anyway," he corrected himself. The Huntsman folded his arms across his chest. "So where else am I supposed to find a keycard?"

"Oh God, please don't tell me he's going to have to search each and every single room in Beacon for an ID!" Blake groaned.

"It is his own fault, for losing his own keycard," Weiss said flatly. "Honestly, he is a bigger dunce than Ruby is, sometimes."

"Hey, Ruby didn't have a keycard, either!" Pyrrha pointed out, trying to stand up for her leader.

As Jaune contemplated his next move, he was caught off guard by a voice that echoed through the hallway.

"Yoo-hoo! There's no need to look so glum, my gallant chum!" Jaune flinched, and turned around. Standing before him was a man dressed up like a jester, sporting everything from the pointed shoes, to the frilly purple tunic with cotton balls, and a cap sporting a pair of ears with bells jingling on the end. His skin was stark white, which clashed with his pitch black eyes, which sported a couple of red irises that glowed eerily. He clutched a small gilded rod that had a light blue gem embedded in each end.

"Uh, who the hell is that?" Yang demanded, feeling a little creeped out by this newcomer. A sentiment the other students shared.

"Is he a Grimm?" Nora asked, frowning. "Because his eyes don't look like a normal person's, that's for sure."

"If he is a Grimm, it is unlike any species I have heard of," Ren said, using his Semblance to mask his uneasiness.

Jaune took a nervous step backwards, looking ready to head for the hills. But before he could, the man pranced forward, holding up both hands.

"Oh wait wait wait wait wait!" he told the Huntsman excitedly. "Better listen to what others have to say, lad. This Academy has more to it than meets the eye. If you want to make it through this place, you'll need to put that big brain of yours to good use! Understand, Blondie?" He knocked his knuckles against Jaune's forehead, who quickly drew Ebony and Ivory in response.

"Hands off," he warned the man, his face stern. "I have no idea who or what you are, but if you touch me again, I will shoot you." The man looked at the pistols pointed at his chest, and rubbed his neck.

"That could be a problem..." he admitted.

"I had forgotten how intense Jaune can be when he is serious!" Weiss admitted, looking a little unnerved herself.

"Indeed, is it any wonder Cardin's leaving him alone, now?" Pyrrha said with a smile.

For a moment, Jaune and the mysterious stranger had a silent standoff as they stared each other down. Then the other man smiled cheekily, and pushed the pistols downward.

"Just here me out. You've got nothing to lose, right?" he stated. "My name is Jester, and I know a thing or two about this place. So!" Jester declared, pointing his rod at the Huntsman's chest. "You need a keycard to get up to the Headmaster's office, but haven't got one on you. That is your problem, yes?" Jaune nodded slowly. "Well, I may just have the missing piece to your puzzle. That bull-headed brute awaiting you up here isn't the only high-ranking White Fang goon on sight. You know what that means, right?" There was a pause, and then Jester grew impatient. "Come on, kiddo, use your cranium!" he snapped, prodding the Huntsman's chest. Instantly, Jaune opened fire, not even bothering to raise his arms as he shot at Jester's feet. However, the man simply began to dance, folding his arms across his chest and kicking his legs up and down as he avoided the bullets, laughing like a loon. "Ahahahahahaha!"

"Sheesh, that guy's seriously nuts!" Yang said, staring at the screen in disbelief.

"I'm more impressed that he's able to dodge all those bullets," Blake stated with wide eyes.

Seeing that he was accomplishing nothing, Jaune stopped shooting at Jester, who immediately hunched over, panting and giggling madly.

"I'm not in the mood for games, pal," the Huntsman stated flatly. "You mind just telling me where you're going with this?"

"I would've thought it'd be obvious," Jester sending, clicking his tongue on disappointment. "Your friends in the White Fang have rounded up some keycards of their own! Simply borrow one from them, and your good to go! And..." he glanced around, as though making sure nobody was listening in, before creeping up close to Jaune, cupping a hand next to his mouth. "I HEAR THERE'S A COUPLE OF TOP DOGS HANGING OUT IN THE DINING HALL!!!" Jester shouted at the top of his lungs. The Huntsman squeezed an eye shut at the unexpected increase in volume, then unsheathed Crocea Mors, pulling it out into a short slash that forced the madman away from him.

"I swear, that man has a death wish or something!" Pyrrha shook her head.

"Stay in your own bubble, pal!" Jaune growled, before what had been shouted at him clicked in. "Wait, so these higher-ups in the cafeteria have a keycard with them?"

"BINGO!" Jester exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air in celebration. "Not all blondes are dumb after all, it seems!" He smiled, and pointed his rod at Jaune again. "Now, what are you waiting for? There's a way forward, and you've got the will. No sense in dawdling! Go forth, brave knight, and do your duty! Ahahahahahaha!" And with that, Jester turned as skipped away, leaving the Huntsman by himself.

"Huh. Thanks for the tip," Jaune said, before shuddering. "But you sure creep me out, weirdo..." And with that, the episode ended.

"So Jester is trying to help Jaune?" Ruby asked, her silver eyes blinking in surprise. "Maybe he's not a Grimm after all..."

"Perhaps, but he is still certifiably insane, and seems to enjoy getting a rise out of Jaune, as well," Weiss pointed out. "I would be hesitant to trust Jester as an ally, if I were him."

"Well, he should still check the cafeteria, anyway," Ren determined. "He has to start somewhere, and the White Fang Leaders having keycards does make sense."

"Well, there's only one way to find out!" Yang declared. "We'll just have to keep watching, and see what happens next!"

~GRIMM MAY CRY~

"...Taiyang Xiao Long is on his way," Ms. Goodwitch reported, as the group stood outside Ruby's closed dorm room. "He should arrive at Beacon within two hours."

"Well, I suppose I should steel myself for that upcoming parent-teacher conference," Ozpin said with a sigh.

"Yeah, I don't envy ya, Oz," Qrow scoffed. "Tai can get pretty heated when it comes to his daughters' safety."

"Then how come you're staying so calm, Mr. Branwen?" Jaune asked him curiously. "I mean, Ruby and Yang are your nieces, aren't they?"

"Because I'm going in after them, duh."

"Qrow!" Ms. Goodwitch stared at him incredulously. "I know you are concerned for your niece's safety, but think this through! You cannot just step through a wormhole to an unknown destination all by yourself!"

"Yeah, you're right," Qrow conceded, before turning to Ozpin. "Hey Oz, wanna come with me?"

"I would love to," the Headmaster said with a nod. "Glynda, be a dear and assure Mr. Xiao Long that Qrow and I will be searching for his daughters when he gets here, would you?"

"Oh, no! You are NOT dumping that migraine of meeting on me!"
