Mission 3: The Dimmed Beacon

"I guess Jaune's going to make it to Beacon in this next episode," Ruby determined, a melancholic look on her face. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to see our school in such a ruined state." Instantly, Yang was at her little sister's side.

"It'll be okay, Rubes," she said reassuringly. "Just because Beacon was destroyed in this reality does not mean it'll happen in ours."

"Yeah, Yang is right!" Nora agreed. "Let's just use this as an idea for what we're not going to let happen to our beloved academy, right?" At her friend's words of encouragement, Ruby's silver eyes regained some of their cheer.

"Yeah, good idea!" she said with a smile. "Beacon isn't going to fall as long as we have anything to say about it!"

"Well, if we are finished being dramatic, I would like to see the next episode, please," Weiss requested, causing Yang to give her a look as the Blonde Brawler returned to the couch.

"No problem," Abe said, selecting the third episode, entitled "The Dimmed Beacon."

"Okay, let's see how bad the damage is," Ruby murmured.

The episode began with a shot of the top of Beacon Academy, where Adam Taurus stood, looking out over the expanse of no man's land, with the skyscrapers of Vale looming far in the distance. His long, black trench coat with red embroidery and windswept reddish brown hair fluttered lightly in the stronger breeze at his higher altitude. His masked face kept his expression unreadable, his mouth set in a calm frown as he stood in quiet contemplation. His gloved hands rested on his sword- a sheathed katana with black scabbard sporting red embroidery in the shape of roses and thorny vines. A black bow had been tied around the sword's sheath, close to the scabbard's locket, where it also danced softly in the cool wind.

"So, that is what Adam looks like," Ren commented. "His color choices, coupled with that mask, almost made me mistake him for a Grimm."

"Yeah, that's a villain if I ever saw one," Pyrrha agreed. Blake, however, was more interested in her former mentor's new weapon.

"That's my bow tied around his sword," she realized. "Does he sport that as a keepsake, or a trophy?"

At the sound of footsteps, Adam's horned head turned slightly to see who was responsible for his disturbance. Approaching him was the same well-dressed, mustachioed man that had been inside Jaune's shop.

"Watts," the bull Faunus greeted the man coolly.

"Oh, so that's what Mr. Mustache's name is!" Nora commented. "I forgot he never told Jaune who he was."

"Watts," Weiss repeated, toiling over the name. "His name sounds familiar to me, but I cannot quite place where I have heard it before..."

"Well? Are you not excited?" Watts asked Adam, stroking his mustache curiously. "Your finest hour is close at hand. Now that we have restored power to Beacon, it is only a matter of time before we can access the Vault and claim your birthright." The bull Faunus remained silent, so Watts simply moved to stand next to him, joining him in staring out over the edge of the Headmaster's office. "It is strangely beautiful, is it not?" the mustachioed man commented. "The way the buildings clash with the barren expanse, I mean. Progress and desolation meeting head on. If I had the talent, I wager I could turn this sight into a masterpiece.  What say you?" At this, Adam grunted.

"I'm not much into art," the bull Faunus said bluntly. "Watts, I've already lost two teams of my men on this little excursion. This Relic had better be as powerful as you claim."

"Oh, believe me, it is," Watts assured him. "To be able to know the future in any quantity, even if it is only one pivotal choice to make in your life, can allow you to reshape your destiny. Think about all the trouble the White Fang can avoid by knowing what decisions they will have presented to them in advance." Adam brought a hand to his chin, thinking it over. "And, of course, you can always sell the Relic if it turns out to be useless," the mustachioed man added. "Imagine all the military-grade weaponry and armor that amount of money could buy..."

"A Relic that shows future choices, huh?" Yang hummed. "That sounds a lot like that crown from 'The Indecisive King,' don't you guys think?"

"It does," Ren agreed. "That makes two fairy tales from our world that are real in that reality."

"So that's what the White Fang is after," Ruby realized. "They want to see the big choices they'll have to make in their lives, so they can make their decisions in advance. That's kind of clever, actually."

"And Watts raises another good point- a crown that reveals the future would sell for a LOT on the black market," Blake said with a grimace. "Imagine how many Paladins they could buy with that much Lien." The Beacon Academy students shuddered. That was a scary thought.

"Perhaps," Adam said. "Of course, first we have to unlock the seal placed on the Vault, and that requires Arc to do so. What could be keeping him?" Before Watts could answer that question, the Wyvern swooped over Beacon, inky black goop dripping from its mouth. Most of it splattered on the ground far below, where it formed into Beowolves and Creeps. However, one large droplet splashed on the Headmaster's office, right behind Adam and Watts, who turned to look at it. The puddle bubbled and churned, before shaping itself into an Alpha Beowolf, who roared at the two men.

"I did not know Wyverns could do that," Weiss said, looking a little uneasy. "I thought they just used their heavy bulk to destroy things."

"Yeah, a Grimm capable of spawning isn't going to make Jaune's trek through Beacon very easy," Pyrrha stated, gritting her teeth.

"Never mind that, it looks like Adam's going to have to fight an Alpha Beowolf now!" Nora said excitedly. "Let's see what Jaune's going up against..."

Watts looked uneasy, but Adam merely shook his head, and turned to look back down at the courtyard far below, where more White Fang Grunts began to confront the spawning Grimm. Seeing this, the Alpha Beowolf howled, then bounded forward, its front paws extending out to attack. And then suddenly the large wolf Grimm went rigid. The bull Faunus pulled his katana out of the Alpha Beowolf's chest, which had been buried up to the hilt, then twirled the sword as he returned it to its scabbard, stepping aside to allow the Grimm to slump forward and plummet off the Headmaster's office.

A moment of stunned silence followed this, as the students tried to comprehend what had just happened.

"H-How fast is this guy?!" Yang demanded. "I didn't even see him move!"

"Is his Semblance speed based?" Ruby asked Blake, sounding a little queasy. The cat Faunus shook her head, causing her team leader to swallow nervously. "I didn't think so..."

"I think Jaune's gonna to have a harder time handling this guy than we first thought," Nora murmured, her blue eyes wide. "He's gonna need some help!"

"Speaking of which..." Ren announced, breaking out of his stupor to point at the screen.

The scene changed to show a distant shot of Beacon Academy, where a figure with a long red cape stood, watching the Alpha Beowolf fall towards the ground, before bursting into a puff of ash midway through its descent. The person's upper face was hidden under a red hood, but her mouth was still visible, which curled into a frown as she looked up at the Headmaster's office, where Adam was still standing.

"I found you," she whispered harshly.

"Wait a minute! I'm in this too?!" Ruby exclaimed, her silver eyes sparkling. "THAT'S AWESOME!!!"

"That should help even the odds a little!" Pyrrha declared.

"Yeah, it will!" Yang said with a grin. "Don't worry, Vomit Boy! Help is on the way!"

"Well, he doesn't need any yet, that's for sure," Blake commented, directing everyone's attention back towards the screen.

"Dang it, guys! Don't you think there's better things to be using your bullets on?" Jaune demanded, charging towards a White Fang Grunt, his shield out in front to block the stream of bullets the Faunus shot at him. When he had closed the distance, the Huntsman simply continued his charge, slamming his shield into the Grunt's chest and using it to smash the Faunus against one of the many stone pillars of Beacon's colonnade, knocking the Grunt out. Satisfied, Jaune turned away to assess his surroundings.

The Huntsman was now standing in Beacon's main avenue, where a battle was taking place. White Fang Grunts armed with guns and cutlasses fought against a small horde of Grimm, filling the air with panicked shouts and inhuman shrieks. One unfortunate Faunus had his legs swept out from under him by a Creep, and could only scream as the reptilian Grimm pounced atop him, its toothy maw clamping shut around his head. Jaune turned away to avoid seeing what went along with the sickening crunch that followed.

"Ooh!" Nora winced. "That sounded so nasty!"

"Indeed," Weiss agreed, removing her hands from her ears. "I would rather not hear that again."

Jaune took another glance around him, watching the battle play out, before he looked at the large doors leading to the academy amphitheater. The Huntsman nodded at his destination, then began to dash through the carnage towards the large archway the doors rested beneath. He had made it halfway across the courtyard before the ground in front of him burst open, allowing another Creep to lunge out at him. Jaune grit his teeth, then slammed the bottom of his shield into the reptilian Grimm's head, knocking it to the ground. Before it could get back up, he had already plunged Crocea Mors into its neck. With a dying hiss, the Creep burst into smoke.

"Well, that went smoother than it did five years ago," Ren commented.

Before Jaune could resume his advance, a Beowolf leapt in front of the doors, then began to bound towards him. The Huntsman quickly put away his shield and pulled out Ebony, firing a shot that tore through one of the wolf Grimm's eye sockets, sending it rolling to a stop before crumbling away. As though on cue, another White Fang Grunt leapt towards Jaune, swinging her cutlass down towards his face. The Huntsman parried the strike with Crocea Mors, then holstered his pistol to take his sword's grip in both hands, forcing the Faunus's cutlass down towards the ground. Using this to his advantage, he brought up a leg and kicked the Grunt in the chest sending them crashing to the ground. Taking advantage of this, a second Beowolf pounced on the Faunus, and began to claw and bite as she screamed.

"Hey! Get off her!" Jaune shouted, sheathing his sword and drawing Ivory, before shooting the wolf Grimm repeatedly in the side. With a grunt, the Beowolf collapsed and disintegrated, leaving the injured Grunt to lay there alone, moaning in pain.

"...That was actually very noble of Jaune," Weiss admitted, staring at the screen in shock. "He did not need to save that Faunus woman, considering she had just tried to kill him."

"Hey, I wouldn't want to watch someone get eaten by Grimm either, if I could do something about it," Yang said with a shrug. "He won't let her be mauled, but he doesn't need to patch her up, either."

"Yes, it's best if he just keeps moving," Pyrrha declared. "If he stays out there, he'll end up fighting everyone else in the courtyard."

"Sheesh, I know the White Fang wants him dead, but attacking him over the Grimm? That's kind of fanatical, don't ya think?" Nora asked.

With no more distractions in sight, Jaune continued to make his way towards Beacon's doors, moving as fast as he could while not bringing attention to himself. One more Creep did try to get in his way, but with his pistols still in hand, the Huntsman simply interrupted its pounce midair with several shots from each, causing it to burst into smoke before it even hit the ground. As he finally reached the large entrance doors, Jaune nodded, holstered his guns, then slowly pushed the large doors open, before slipping inside the academy.

Once inside the amphitheater, the doors swung shut behind the Huntsman, silencing the sounds of combat from the main avenue. Jaune wrinkled his nose as the smell of blood filled his nostrils, signifying that another skirmish had recently taken place here, as well. Sure enough, bloodstains covered the floor, and the claw marks and broken floorboards signified Grimm were previously in here, as well. The Huntsman continued into the center of the room, where he stopped, then whistled at the sight before him.

Upon the small stage at the other end of the amphitheater was a large, three-headed Beowolf, reared up on its hind legs. The beast seemed to be made entirely out of stone, but there was something about its heads, they say their mouths were all agape mid-roar, as well as the lifelike eyes, that suggested otherwise.

"Man, Ruby sure did a number on that guy," Jaune commented.

"I did that?" Ruby asked, tilting her head in confusion. "But how? I can't think of a single way I'd be able to petrify that...what even is that?"

"I think Port went over that thing briefly a couple weeks ago," Blake told her. "An Omega Beowolf, if I remember correctly. 'Living proof that even the weakest specimen can become nightmares if left alive for long enough,' as he put it."

"Well, hopefully that thing stays petrified," Ren muttered.

Jaune took another step towards the statue, before stopping cold as he noticed something happening. Dim, red lights glowed from each of the Omega Beowolf's eyes. They seemed to be focused on the Huntsman, because as he took another step forward, the lights grew much brighter. Cracks began to appear on the statue's body, before bits of stone, revealing black fur underneath, as more of the statue deteriorated, white mist rose from the cracks and holes in the stone, before the Omega Beowolf let out a howl, causing its stone casing to blast apart into rubble. The giant, three-headed wolf Grimm leapt off the stage and slammed down onto the ground in front of Jaune. Icy white Dust crystals protruded from the Omega Beowolf's back and shoulders, and mist billowed from its three heads as it growled and snapped at the Huntsman.

"Way to jinx it, Ren," Weiss said crossly.

As Jaune and the Omega Beowolf faced each other down, the wolf Grimm's central head opened its jaws, and started to speak.

"Leave now, mortal!" it sneered at the Huntsman. "The likes of you are forbidden in this place! You who are powerless are not worthy to set foot in here!"

A few seconds of silence passed as the Beacon Academy students tried to recover from this shock.

"...Um, you all heard that too, right?" Yang asked, her mouth dry.

"It talks?" Nora demanded, eyes wide. "But Grimm can't talk!"

"If it can speak, maybe it's not a Grimm," Pyrrha reasoned, visibly shaken.

"I dunno, Pyrrha," Ruby said nervously. "Animals talk all the time in the fairy tales, which this reality takes inspiration from. Is it really that much of a stretch to believe Grimm can, too?"

If Jaune was surprised, he did not show it, instead raising an eyebrow as he studied the Omega Beowolf curiously.

"Well, I've seen an Omega Beowolf or two before, but never one that had a frozen glaze covering it," he said, looking at the Ice Dust Crystals protruding from the large Grimm's body. "I assume you must've eaten something with a lot of Ice Dust, didn't you?"

"Yes, as well as the foolish Faunus it belonged to!" the Omega Beowolf's left head boasted. "And we will devour you, too, unless you flee for your life!" the right head warned the Huntsman. Jaune brought a hand up to his chin, appearing to think it over.

"Well, that's a tempting offer, but I was invited to this place by someone," he told the Grimm. "I really shouldn't keep them waiting."

"Uh, Jaune, maybe think this through a little better," Blake said nervously. "I don't think this beast will be as easy to defeat as an Alpha Beowolf..."

"Fool!" the Omega Beowolf's middle head shouted at Jaune. "The only way to proceed through Beacon is to defeat me! And all that have faced me before I have eaten! DIE!" At this roar, the center head opened its mouth and released an icy white beam, causing the Huntsman to dive out of the way. The ray of energy slammed into the double doors behind Jaune, encasing them in a thick layer of ice.

"Calm down, Fido!" the Huntsman retorted. "How about I take you for a walk?"

"Your confidence will be your downfall, worm!" the Grimm sneered, all three heads talking in unison. "We will freeze your flesh, and shatter you like glass!"

"Then what are you waiting for?" Jaune demanded, before bringing up a hand to beckon the Omega Beowolf forward. "Show me what you can do!"

"Well, I guess they have to fight now," Ren said with a grimace.

"Be careful, Jaune!" Ruby called towards the screen.

The Omega Beowolf began its attack by tearing up on its hind legs, before attempting to slam itself down on top of Jaune, who backflipped out of the way. The Huntsman deployed his shield, unsheathed his sword, and charged forward, preparing to retaliate. But before he could, the three-headed Grimm's left eyes briefly flashed blue, before it slammed one of its paws into the ground, causing a bunch of ice spikes to burst out of the ground around it. Jaune was forced to halt his advance to avoid being impaled.

"Well, that ice is gonna be a problem," he muttered, just before the Omega Beowolf's right head lifted its head and howled, causing a bunch of large icicles to form on the ceiling and then rain down from above like javelins. The Huntsman held his shield above his head like an umbrella, shielding himself from the jagged ice. This left him open to a claw swipe from the Grimm, though, that sent him flying backwards. He landed on his back and skidded, finally sliding to a stop near the entrance. "Okay, now I'm mad!" Jaune shouted, charging forward once again. The Omega Beowolf's middle head sneered as it watched him approach, before opening its mouth and unleashing another beam of pure cold. Instead of dodging this time, though, the Huntsman simply ran into the icy ray head on, holding his shield out in front of him.

"Is he insane?!" Weiss demanded.

"Jaune, no!" Pyrrha shouted. "You're going to get... yourself... killed?"

The Omega Beowolf's other two heads laughed as they witnessed the beam of cold slam into Jaune, but their laughter caught in their throats as they noticed that the Huntsman was not frozen. Aura rippled around Jaune's shield, reducing the effects of the elemental attack, and allowing him to continue his advance, even as ice began to freeze upon his shield and face. Once he was close enough, he dived forward, escaping under the freezing ray, then focused Aura into his legs, before using it to blast himself forward, beneath the three-headed Grimm. As he did so, the Huntsman held Crocea Mors up over his head, dragging it down the length of the Omega Beowolf's stomach, smoke bursting from the long gash he cut open.

"AARGH!" all three of the Grimm's heads shouted, quickly leaping forward to get away from Jaune. They bounded over to the other side of the room, before swiveling around to glare at him murderously.

"Damn you, Huntsman!" the left head cursed him. "That was clever, but it will take more than cunning to beat us!" Snarling and raving, the right head lifted its head and howled again, sending a second volley of icicles raining down from above.

"Hey, he managed to get a hit in!" Nora threw her hands up excitedly. "Go get 'em, Jaune!"

"Yes, but be careful!" Blake urged him. "I don't think that Grimm will let you do that again!"

Jaune sheathed his sword, then held his shield above himself to once again shield himself from the icicles falling down from above. However, with his sword hand now open, this time he drew Ivory to fire several shots at the Omega Beowolf's middle head. Most of the bullets bounced harmlessly off its thick, bony snout, but one managed to slam into one of its eyes, causing it to flinch in pain.

"You will regret that, you worm!" it snarled at him. The three-headed Grimm bounded forward, unleashing another claw swipe at the Huntsman. But Jaune was ready and jumped over the attack, before using the Omega Beowolf's limb as a springboard to launch himself into the air. He unsheathed Crocea Mors and took it in both hands as he descended, before plunging its blade straight into the Grimm's right head.

"NOOO!!! THIS CANNOT BEEE!!!" the head howled as it shook itself back and forth, trying to dislodge the Huntsman. It was futile, though, as Jaune twisted his sword, causing the head to crack and crumble, before blasting apart into shards of ice, bone, ash.

"Oh my gosh, did you see that?!" Ruby squealed, bouncing in her bean bag excitedly. "He did it! He really did it!"

"Way to go, Vomit Boy!" Yang whooped. "You made destroying that thing's head look easy!"

"Yes, but it still has two others," Ren reminded everyone. "He is not out of this yet."

With an outraged snarl, the Omega Beowolf's middle head managed to grab Jaune's shield arm in its giant mouth, and hurled the Huntsman away. Then it took a deep breath, and unleashed another ray of cold from its mouth. Instead of targeting Jaune, though, it swept the beam across the ground, causing ice to freeze over the entire ground floor of the amphitheater.

"Okay, what is that thing planning?" Nora demanded, glaring at the screen.

Glaring at the Omega Beowolf, Jaune took a step forward, only for his foot to slide forward, causing him to stumble. The Huntsman fell on one knee, using his sword to brace himself up and preventing him from face planting on the ground.

"Hahaha! What is the matter, Huntsman?" the Grimm's left head taunted Jaune. "Unable to find your footing?"

"So that was its plan," Pyrrha stated, looking impressed, despite herself. "By freezing up the ground, Jaune's movement has been drastically reduced."

"And that's not all it can do!" Ruby yelped. "Look!"

"DIE!" the Omega Beowolf's left head bellowed, lifting a paw and slamming it on the ground. The ground below Jaune glowed, causing him to gasp and throw himself onto his back, narrowly sliding out of the way of a cluster of ice spikes that burst from the ground. He continued to slide backward until he was stopped by the frozen entrance of the amphitheater.

"Impressive," the Grimm's middle head admitted, watching the Huntsman stand up onto his feet. "But futile! Again!" A second stomp caused Jaune to empower his legs and leap straight up into the air, jamming his sword into the wall to prevent himself from falling back down onto another set of spikes. Grimacing, the Huntsman swung himself up, standing atop his sword as he considered his options.

"Hey, I've seen my uncle do that!" Yang said, smiling slightly. "I wonder if he taught Jaune in this universe..."

"Well, now what is he supposed to do?" Weiss demanded. "He cannot stay atop that shield forever."

"Aww, are you stuck?" the Omega Beowolf's left head taunted Jaune, watching as he stared down at the frozen floor. "Well, there is no point on dragging the fight on any longer. Finish him off!" At this, the middle head growled, then unleashed yet another icy ray from its mouth. The Huntsman quickly pulled his sword from the wall and dropped down onto safe ground. "Persistent fool! DIE!" the left head roared, stomping down to raise another cluster of ice spikes, only for Jaune quickly zip out of the way.

"What?" the Omega Beowolf's middle head muttered, before taking a closer look at the Huntsman. Jaune smiled and winked back at the Grimm, as he stood atop his shield, his right foot slipped beneath its wrist strap.

"...Is Jaune using his shield as a snowboard?" Ren asked, mildly surprised.

"That'll help him balance!" Ruby said with a grin. "Good thinking, Jaune!"

"Useless!" the Omega Beowolf's left head snarled, before raising its foot and stomping the ground several more times, practically carpeting the floor in ice spikes. But with his makeshift snowboard, Jaune was able to easily slip and weave away and around the attacks, causing both of the Grimm's remaining heads to growl in frustration.

"Well played, Huntsman," the middle head snarled. "But I will end this!" The Omega Beowolf bounded forward, shattering the ice spikes like glass. It snapped at the Huntsman with its giant maw, but Jaune spun into a brutal swing with his sword, sending the head reeling.

"You pest!" the left head spat. "I will crush you!" It lifted a paw to do just that, but the Huntsman intercepted the attack with Crocea Mors, jabbing the blade into its soft hand. "AARGH!" the Grimm's left head bellowed, as it's large body leapt backwards,  away from Jaune. "Now you die! Kill him!" it ordered the middle head, who inhaled and set one more icy beam towards the Huntsman, who held his ground.

"Is he planning on doing another charge?" Weiss asked.

"No, he's got something else planned," Blake stated. "Look at that glimmer in his eyes."

Jaune let the freezing ray get close, then in one solid motion, kicked his shield up into his arm and bashed the icy beam with his now Aura-coated defense, causing it to be refracted and streak backwards, right towards the Omega Beowolf's astonished left head.

"This cannot be-" was all it had time to say before it was frozen in a block of ice. The middle head could only watch as Jaune slid forward, leaping onto a wall that he ran across for a couple seconds, before springing off of it to drive his feet down onto its left head, shattering it like glass. He followed up with a brutal blow from his shield to the Grimm's middle head, causing its legs to buckle, and for the Grimm to fall on his stomach.

"Woo-hoo!" Nora whooped. "Jaune showed that Beowolf who's boss!"

"Yeah he did!" Yang laughed, coming down from her adrenaline high. "It's nothing but an oversized Alpha now!"

As Jaune stood in front of the defeated Omega Beowolf, the Grimm lifted its last remaining head to look up at him.

"You... You are no ordinary human, are you?" the Omega Beowolf asked. The Huntsman shrugged.

"Who knows? With all the stories told about my ancestor, I'm not even sure myself," Jaune replied.

"Hmm... Regardless, you have proven your strength," the Grimm conceded. "Take the power I possess and proceed. You have my blessing." With this, the Omega Beowolf's eyes faded to black, as it last its last remaining head in between its legs, before it slowly evaporated into steam. In its place rested a pair of nunchaku, which a shiny, light blue ball of light hovered above.

"Huh. I guess that's how that Omega Beowolf was able to utilize ice," Ruby said with a hum. "Those nunchaku have Ice Dust inside them."

"But what's that ball of light above them?" Pyrrha asked.

Jaune approached the nunchaku and picked them up off the ground, before stretching out an arm towards the ball of light, which floated gently over to him. It came to a gentle rest in the palm of his hand, allowing the Huntsman to place it upon the weapon, causing it to slowly be absorbed. As the light slowly dispersed amongst the nunchaku, the Ice Dust inside them grew excited, until the two rods were glowing with the same bright cyan light. Jaune looked down at the weapon in his hands, and smiled.

"Don't worry, Neon," he said quietly. "I'll put your weapon to good use."

"Who's Neon?" Yang asked in confusion.

"That must be the name of whoever those nunchaku belonged to," Ren deduced.

Jaune spun one of the nunchaku rods over his head for a few seconds, before snapping the weapon around his body. It was apparent from how he handled his newfound armament that he had practiced wielding nunchaku before. The Huntsman finally stopped his warm-up by holding the weapon out in front of him, a rod gripped in each hand and the cord pulled taut. Satisfied, Jaune hung the nunchaku on his belt.

"Heh. Guess all those nunchuck lessons with Sun will finally be worth something," he declared, right before the frozen doors behind him were blown open with a powerful explosion. The Huntsman dove forward to avoid large chunks of ice and shards of wood that rained down around him, before looking up in time to see a streak of red go rocketing over him, out of the amphitheater and further into the academy, a trail of rose petals raining down behind him. Jaune grinned. "So, Ruby's at this party too, huh? This just gets better and better!" The episode ended.

"Be careful, you dunce!" Weiss scolded. "Are you trying to kill Jaune?"

"I'm sorry!" Ruby squeaked. "How was other me supposed to know Jaune was in there?!"

"Well, things are getting interesting, that's for sure," Nora said with a grin. "I can't wait to see what happens next!"

~GRIMM MAY CRY~

"...And you are certain your teammates, alongside Team RWBY, we're sucked into this wormhole?" Ozpin asked, as he followed Jaune down the many hallways of Beacon, back to the dorm rooms. Qrow and Ms. Goodwitch followed close behind, concern evident on their faces.

"I'm pretty sure, yeah," Jaune said shakily, still panting from his earlier dash across the academy. "I didn't see them in there, and when I tried to reach them on my Scroll, I got zero response. That's a pretty good sign, right?"

"More like a bad sign," Qrow muttered.

"Easy, Qrow, we will rescue your nieces, I assure you," the Headmaster promised him. "Glynda, be a dear and call all of the missing students' parents, would you?"

"At once, Headmaster," Ms. Goodwitch said with a nod, pulling out her Scroll.

"Well, this is another fine mess," Ozpin said with a sigh. "I miss the days when all that endangered my students were Grimm and teen pregnancies, none of this wormhole to another dimension nonsense." Jaune froze at this statement.

"What was that about teen pregnancies?"
