Day In and Day Out

Wave's POV:

After my long break, I finally got back to working for Louie. I missed the old store. It had been too long since I did a full eight hour shift. While I had been away, Louie had hired another helping hand. She was a Bayleef named Flower. She was very nice, but also very nervous. She constantly tripped on her words and paws alike. However, when there weren't many pokemon in the store, she was less nervous and more aprochable.

As I was sweeping the floors as I usually do, the grass type walked up to me smiling, but also sweating a bit.

"H-hi W-w-wave." She said, looking everywhere but at me. "I uh....n-n-need your help. P-please."

"Of course. What do you need help with." I asked, leaning the broom against one of the shelves.

"In the back. I don't know what goes where and I'm too scared to ask Louie."

"Well, I'll help you. Just show me what it is you're putting away and I'll show you where it goes."

The Bayleef nodded and I followed her into the back of the store. She pointed her head at a couple of boxes on the floor. I looked inside and saw they were filled with an assortment of different items. I turned back around to look at the grass type and smiled at her to calm her down somewhat.

"Alright" I began "the green packages go on the shelves over there and the red ones there."

Flower nodded in understanding and thanked me before she nervously began putting the packages on the shelf. I left the backroom and returned to sweeping. Once I finished sweeping a pair of pokemon entered the store. It was the same Furret from the library, the one with the pearl necklace and glasses. She was accompanied by a Linoone. They entered the store and began browsing. I turned to look at them before looking over at the counter.

As I thought he would, Louie stood behind the counter, smiling. I moved to the backroom to help Flower. She looked at me surprised but went back to work.

"Customers." I told her, putting two red packages on a shelf.

"Oh. Not g-going h-help them?" Flower asked.

"No. That's Louie's job. I just clean mostly."

"R-right."

"So, Flower, I haven't asked you, but what do you like to do? Any hobbies?" I asked, seeing if could start a conversation.

"Oh. W-well I l-like to uh....paint and uh....draw. I also like to uh....grow things, b-b-but that's to be expected cause I'm a grass t-type. Um....yeah." Flower said, looking at her feet, embarrassed.

"Hey, no need to feel embarrassed" I told her, putting a paw on her shoulder "I think painting and drawing is really cool and I have a friend who loves to garden. Maybe you too could hangout sometime and do....garden.... things."

Flower looked up at me and her eyes were bright and hopeful. "R-really?"

"Yeah sure. His den was just destroyed by a couple of mean pokemon, but I'm sure he'd love to garden again. If you want, I'll let him know."

"That....that would be very nice of you. To be honest, I....haven't really had any friends before. Ever."

I watched Flower's face fall with sympathy. I felt so bad for her. I knew what it was like to not have any friends.

"Hey," I said, lifting her face so her eyes met mine "I'll be your friend, okay? And I'll help you get more friends. I promise."

"T-thank you Wave. Y-your v-very kind."

"You're kind as well. I'm glad I get to work with you."

Flower was beaming now, which made me feel very happy. I turned around to grab another package only to find Louie standing there, smiling at me.

"Ahh!" I called out in alarm, stumbling back.

"Sorry to startle you Wave, but I think you should handle the customers today. At least the ones in the store right now." Louie said, waving at Flower. She waved back with a nervous smile.

"Excuse me, what?" I was extremely surprised.

"You heard me. I've shown you what to do before. Now hurry, they're waiting."

"You made them wait!!??"

I ran out of the backroom as fast as I could, almost running into a shelf. I scrambled behind the counter and smiled at the two normal types before me. A look of recognition crossed the Furret's face.

"Oh. You're the Vaporeon from the library. How are you dearie?" She asked, smiling.

"I'm doing well. How are you guys?" I responded, going over what Louie told me to say and do in my head.

"We're doing well, aren't we dear?"

"Yes, I believe we are." The Linoone said, smiling at the Furret.

They nuzzled their noses together, smiling. As I watched, I felt a sense of longing deep inside of me. Shaking the feeling away, I smiled at the couple and began helping them with their items.

"Will that be all?" I asked after scanning everything.

"Yes" The Furret said pulling out her wallet from the purse she had around her neck.

"Then that'll be 120 Pokedollars."

She handed me the requested amount and after bagging all of their things, I thanked them for shopping and told them to have a great rest of their day. After doing so, I returned to sweeping while Louie went back to handling any more customers who entered the store. Midway through sweeping, Flower walked up to me and nervously smiled.

"Hey Flower." I said, smiling myself "Do you need my help with something?"

"W-well....uh....n-not really. B-but kind of yes. D-do you think you're friend will l-like me?"

"Of course! Sandy is super friendly! I'm sure you two will get along just fine." I reassured the worried grass type.

"O-okay. If you s-say so."

The Bayleef proceeded to move on to her next task. Once I finished sweeping, I moved on to....you know what? I won't bore you with the details. I'll just move on to the juicy stuff.

After Flower and I finished our shifts, we helped Louie with a few more things before we headed out of the store and into Sunspire. I turned to face the grass type, who was, as per usual, looking around nervously and trying not to draw attention to herself.

"Alright. I'll take you to my den cause Sandy is crashing there for now. You know, with his house all destroyed and stuff."

Flower just nodded and meekly followed me out of town. Walking across the bridge I looked out toward the ocean and smiled. How peaceful the sight was. Well, that was until I was swimming again. The screams where coming from above me. Looking up I saw a huge raging inferno. And two mon looking down at me. Squinting, I tried to make out what the two mon where. Aha! They were-

"Wave! A-are you okay? Y-you j-just fell down and s-started to m-mutter something. Are you okay? Wave wake up!" I heard Flower yelling at me while being shaken.

That dream. I was having it more and more frequently. "Oh uh....yeah I'm fine. just uh....passed out is all. I need to drink some more water I think."

Flower looked at me, clearly concerned, but didn't say anything more.

"Let's keeping going." I said, walking into the forest.

*****************************************

"Sandy! I'm back and I brought a friend too!"

"Oh really? Is it the Umbreon you like so much!?" Came the reply.

"W-what? N-no, it's not her! I brought somemon else." I said, trying not to let my face heat up.

"Oh really?" Sandy asked, sounding more intrigued. "Well, come let me see who this mon is." He said, stepping into the living room through the back door. He was wiping dirt off of his claws with a towel and he smiled at Flower when he saw her.

"And who might you be?"

"I-I-I....m-my name is F-flower." The Bayleef answered.

"Ah. Is pretty name. I am called Sandy. I see you already know Comrade Wave. Why don't you come have seat. I make drink for us."

"Hey! This is my house! Let me do the hosting!" I argued, dropping my bag on the floor and rushing into the kitchen where I began to grab various juices and fruits.

Flower silently sat down on the sofa and Sandy sat down in a large chair next to it. After a few minutes I brought out the drinks I had made and gave one to Flower and Sandy. I went to sit down myself before thinking better of it and excused myself.

Let themselves warm up to each other. I told myself. Hopefully I'll find them out in the back gardening.

Grabbing my bag off the floor, I walked into my room and half closed the door. I set my bag down on the floor next to my bed before jumping onto the bed. I took a sip from my drink and looked around. I smiled thinking about how great life was. As I did, my thoughts slowly drifted to the dream I had had only moments before. I shook my head, trying to clear it of the dream. I didn't even know what the dream meant. It was just some stupid thing that my brain kept wanting to torture me with. As I was trying to clear my head, my eyes landed on the books I got from the library with Moon. Moon. Moon.

I should do something with her again. Maybe tomorrow morning? Yeah that sounds good. We can go to the beach or something. Yeah. That'd be fun. Right? Would Moon like that? She probably wouldn't mind but....oh who am I kidding? She probably has forgotten about me anyways. I just won't worry about it.

Looking out my window I saw that the sun was only barely kissing the horizon, but I felt tired enough to fall asleep. Setting my drink on my nightstand, I crawled under the covers and closed my eyes, my mind still whirling.

Moon's POV:

"Crystal, are you sure he likes me? Do you think he even remembers me?" I wined, laying on my back on the sofa.

"Yes I'm sure Moon Beam. Why would he not? You're a beautiful, kind, sweet, smart, cute, funny, and all around wonderful mon. If he doesn't like you, he has some serious issues." The Alolan Ninetails consoled me before taking a bite out of a cookie Cupcake had made.

"You really think I'm all of those things?" I flipped myself over, looking more intently at the ice type.

"Of course sweetheart! Why would I lie?" Crystal said. She walked over and gave me a hug, spilling some crumbs on me.

"Opps. Sorry. Forgot I had cookie. I'll clean that up."

She then gathered the spilt crumbs and shoved them in her mouth. When I gave her a look of surprise and disgust, she just smiled and shrugged.

"Besides," She said, continuing her earlier speech. "Cupcake got herself a boyfriend, so how hard is it for you to get one?"

"Hey! I heard that!" An annoyed Cupcake called from the kitchen.

"I was counting on it!" Crystal replied, a evil smile on her muzzle.

Turning back to me her smile changed to a more kind one. "Speaking of her boyfriend, if she keeps making all these sweets for him, were going to have a large fluffy blubber ball to deal with. Which reminds me....Cupcake! You aren't making more deserts for that Flareon of yours, are you!?"

Silence.

"Uh....no?"

Crystal shook her head and sighed. "I might have to go stop her."

"Stop who?" Branch asked, walking into the living room. He smiled at me before sitting down next to Crystal and leaning against her.

"Your deranged sister! She's fattening up her boyfriend and I'm concerned for his arteries." Crystal playfully answered.

Branch glanced in the direction of the kitchen before laughing. "I'll go talk to her." He said, getting up.

I watched my older brother leave and turned to look at Crystal, who was also watching him leave.

"Why do you love him?" I wanted to know.

"What's not to like? He's handsome, courageous, smart....okay maybe not super smart but he tries. He cares so much about you and Cupcake and he's kind as well. He's just the best." The Alolan Ninetails answered, gazing towards the kitchen dreamily.

I smiled at her and thought about Wave. I should do something with him again. The day in town was really fun. Maybe we should....never mind. I don't think he cares. Or even remembers me. Who would remember somemon as forgetful as me?

Looking back up at the sealing, I began to question myself, doubt myself, and overall worry. As I did, my thoughts turned to the fateful day that left me quite scared. That awful day on the sea. When my parents died.

No. Stop. Ignore it. The past stays in the past and it can't hurt you there.

I rolled over to where I was looking out the window. The sun was beginning to set, but it still had a long way to go before it came even close to night. I rolled over again, this time onto my back and sighed. I closed my eyes and began sorting through the day's events.
