Somewhere Only We Know

Okay. So Ima make this chapter the begging of the. . . .of the. . . .uh. . . .better writing style chapters(?) Yeah, sure. We'll go with that. In this chapter, I'm going to make my writing sound a bit more profession and more like a real book. or at least try to. So expect more scene description, character action and appearance description, and just better writing in general.

Moon: Sounds like you got a lot to work on.

Hey! My writing isn't that bad!

Moon *holding her paws up in protest*: I wasn't saying that! I was just saying that sounds like a tall order. That's all.

Wave: What's happening over here?

Nothing. There is nothing happening. Go back to doing. . . .whatever it is you do.

Wave *tilting his head*: Didn't you create me though? Doesn't that mean you know what I like to do?

I don't know! Just go bugger off! Oh great! Now you made me slip into my bloody British accent, you little bugger! Of with you! Shoo! Shoo!

Wave: Jeez. Sorry. Guess I'll leave.

*Ahem* As I was saying, I'm going to make this sound better and more professional. With that out of the way, please do enjoy!

Wave's POV:

Looking up at the two mons, I saw that they were Eeveelutions like me. One was a female Glaceon and the other was a shiny male Umbreon. They were holding each other as the looked down at me. I couldn't tell what they were standing on through all of the fire. Squinting it tired to make it out. It looked to be some sort of. . . .

I woke up with a headache. An awful headache. It felt as if my head was splitting in two. Grabbing both sides of my head with my paws, I looked around my room and was surprised to see how clean it was. I normally kept my room fairly clean, but this was on another level. All my books were neatly organized on my shelves, the bed I was laying on had been made recently, and most of the things I had strewn about the floor, like my bag, a few scarfs, my sunglasses, and my journal, had all been put neatly on my nightstand. The blinds on my window had also been dusted and closed, making the room darker without the natural sunlight.

By now the headache was gone so I removed my paws from my head and tried getting up.

"Ahh!!" I yelped, clutching my chest. Feeling something that wasn't my fur there, I looked down to see my chest had been wrapped in lots of white bandages.

Oh right. I thought. I broke my ribs.

I laid back down and as I did, Sandy walked into the room. His face looked concerned as he looked down at me.

"Comrade Wave, I heard you scream. Are you okay? Is there something you need?" The ice/steel type asked. He put his claws together and waited for my response. I was surprised to see how worried he looked.

I gave him a weak smile, trying to look okay. "Yeah. My ribs just hurt is all. Nothing to be worried about."

"Are you certain? It brings me no discomfort to fetch you water or food or even book. I will help you until you feel better." He tapped his claws together with obvious anticipation.

"Yes. I'm fine Sandy. Don't worry about me."

The Alolan Sandslash was hesitant at first, but he nodded and left the room without another word. I was once more alone in my bedroom. I looking around again, I began thinking to myself.

Is Moon okay? Is she safe? I hope she will forgive me for taking her into that stupid cave. I hope she still wants to go on the date.

I looked sadly at my paws and crawled back under the covers. Closing my eyes, I tried to fall asleep.

Several days later

Knock, knock, knock.

I was somewhat shocked by the deja vu I was having. The front porch was relatively the same as it had been when I last knocked on it. The porch swing was still broken and hanging by only one. . . .wire or something, the windows were still a little bit dirty, and the welcome mat sat staring up at me. Hopefully Cupcake wouldn't answer the door this time. That would be. . . .not fun. At all.

Waiting, my ears twitched as I heard the door unlock. I was pleased to see that my silent prayers had been answered. The door opened with a slight creek, and I watched Moon peek her head out of the door. It could have been my imagination, but I swore I saw her face light up when she saw me. Stepping onto the front porch with me, the Umbreon closed the door behind her and gave me a nervous smile, which made my heart flutter.

"Hey Wave. How are you?" The Umbreon asked, her golden eyes staring intently at me.

"I'm doing pretty okay, actually. Can barely tell my ribs were ever broken." I said with a nervous chuckle.

"I. . . .I hope you're not still mad at me for the cave."

"Me? Mad at you? Ha! I was worried you would be mad at me!"

That got a small laugh out of the dark type. I smiled and laughed a bit as well. I felt happy around Moon. Very happy. More happy than I had been for. . . .awhile actually.

"So uh Moon." I began, looking just above her head at the wooden door behind her. "I was hopi-wondering if you were still up for the um date that we sort of planned in the cave."

"Of course I'm still up for it Wave. I'd love to. Just let me go uh. . . .get ready and I'll be out in a few."

I admit, I was a little surprised by her response. I wasn't expecting her to say yes. Maybe she did like me? "Alright. I'll uh. . . .wait out here."

Moon opened the front door and went back inside. I stood on the porch, not quite knowing what to do with myself.

I should have gotten ready, blast it! I'll look like a total doofus next to her. Speaking of which, what exactly are we going to do? Good one genius. Asking her out not knowing exactly what to do. I searched my head, trying to find something we could do together. The only thing I could think of to do was get food. Such a stupid basic thing. She'll know I didn't plan anything when I tell her that.

I smacked my paw against my forehead right as the front door opened. I quickly lowered my paw back down by my side and gave Moon a smile. However, when I took in her full appearance, I was blown away, to say the least. She had combed her fur and it glistened in the late morning sun. She had on the same red bow as last time, but she also had on necklace that looked like it was made from ice. Crystal must have let her borrow it. However, everything she was wearing paled in comparison to Moon's eyes. Two golden gems in a polished obsidian statue. A statue that had to be protected at all costs.

"I'm ready when you are." Moon said, breaking me out of my trance.

"R-right. Yes. Let's get moving." I rushed the words out of my mouth as if they would burn my tongue if they stayed on it for too long.

We began walking towards town on the usual path and we passed the time by asking each other questions and such.

"So uh Moon, why did you and your family decide to move to Sunspire? I've heard that Birchwood is pretty far away." I asked the beautiful Umbreon.

"Well. . . .we've actually been here before. It was a long time ago, when I was still an Eevee, but we have been here. We came here for the Eeveelution Ceremony. I was going to evolve into a Jolteon at the time, but something happened during the Ceremony and everything went south. My. . . .my parents died that night."

"O-oh. I'm sorry for uh. . . .bringing that up."

"Oh no, no. Wave you're fine. You had no knowledge of it and you didn't mean any harm. Don't worry. I'm fine. Branch made a little saying for me to always remember. It's 'The past stays in the past and it can't hurt you from there.'"

"That's. . . .actually really clever. I never would have thought Branch would come up with something like that. I'm impressed." I shot Moon a playful smirk.

"Oh stop it. Branch is smart when he wants to be." The Umbreon responded, nudging my shoulder.

"And that is when exactly?"

Moon playful shoved me and I let her push me into the stream that was behind me. Moon cried out in alarm but soon began laughing. I poked my head out of the water and grinned at her. After I climbed out and shook myself dry, we crossed the bridge into Sunspire. Walking through town me and Moon stopped at Spire Fountain in the Market Square. We sat down and I looked at Moon. My tail twitched in nervousness.

"So uh. . . .I don't really have an idea of what to do. I thought about going out to eat, but that seems basic and boring. So I was wondering if you had any ideas for this. . . .date."

"I think going out to eat is a perfect idea. And after that we could. . . .you know what? Lets just see where the day takes us." Moon gave me a smile that rivaled the brightness of the sun above us.

I didn't want to waste anymore time sitting here so I agreed. "Sounds great. Let's go then!"

I quickly hopped off the fountain and began running in a random direction. Moon caught up with me and soon we were two Eeveelutions running through town, laughing and giggling. We made it to the Business Center and stopped in front of a random restaurant. It looked somewhat new, with several flowers planted outside in pots of varying sizes and colors. There was a large sign that sat just above the door that read The Blossom Place and it had a picture of a smiling shiny Lurantis and Leavanny.  It looked interesting (and more importantly the food smelt good) so I turned to Moon.

"Wanna eat here?" I asked.

"Sure." Moon said as we stepped inside "Have you been here before?"

"Nope!" A goofy grin spread across my face.

Moon laughed and we went and stood in line. I smiled and we slowly moved our way to the front of the line. Once we reached the front, the shiny Lurantis from the sign smiled at us as we approached.

"Hello!" She welcomed us in a bubbly voice. "How may I help you two today?"

"We'd like to eat here, believe it or not." I responded.

The Grass type smiled and laughed. "A table for two?"

"Y-yes please."

She nodded and grabbed two menus and handed them to us. "It'll be that table right over there in the corner. The one next to the windows." She pointed to the far end of the restaurant and I nodded in acknowledgement.

As the shiny Lurantis went to serving the next customer me and Moon walked over to the small table and sat down. I opened the menu after giving Moon hers and began scanning it. The food all looked so delicious and I wanted to try everything, but my bank account wouldn't allow such spending. I eventually decided on another seafood dish that looked pretty appetizing.

Setting my menu down, I looked over at the quiet Umbreon across from me who was still looking at hers. "What are you thinking about getting?"

Moon looked up and gave me a shy smile. "I'm not sure to be honest. I always have a hard time choosing things. Well, when it comes to food at least."

"I get'cha. Deciding what kind of food to eat is pretty hard to be honest."

"Haha. Yeah. Although, I think I'm more in the mood for a pizza than a sandwich."

"Glad you decided cause it looks like our waiter is coming."

A Leavanny walked up to us with a apron tied around her waist and a notepad and pen in her leaf-shaped pincers. She smiled at us as she reached the table and clicked the end of the pen.

"Hello! My name is Lilac and I will be your server for today! What kind of drinks can I get started for you guys today?"

"Hello!" I said, trying to be nice "I'd like a Pecha Berry lemonade please!"

"And I'd like a Oran Berry smoothie. Please."

Lilac nodded and wrote the orders down on her notepad before she looked back up at us and smiled. "I'll be right back with those."

I smiled and thanked her before she walked away. I turned to Moon and asked her what she thought was the relationship between the two mon.

"I'm not sure. They could be best friends, sisters, cousins, lovers, just business partners, who knows." Moon shrugged.

After a few moments Lilac returned with our requested drinks and set them down on the table for us. She adjusted her apron before she began asking us what we wanted to eat.

"I will take the Gyarados Surprise if you will." I said, licking my lips at the thought.

"A great choice sir." Lilac turned to look at Moon. "And you ma'am?"

"I'll take the Johto Pizza please."

"Another great selection. I'll be out with those as fast as I can, don't you worry." the grass and bug type said before once again walking off.

"Sooooo. . . .Moon." I looked around nervously. "Uh. . . .what type of Eeveelutions were your parents? If you don't mind me asking."

"Not at all." Moon's eyes looked far away as she began thinking. "My father. . . .was a Leafeon like Branch and my mother. . . .she was a Glaceon. My father was a very smart scientist who made all kinds of new discoveries and such. And jokes. He made lots of dad jokes. I never saw my mother much. She was usually always on a trip of some sort. But, from what Branch and Cupcake have told me, my mother was the winner of several beauty contests and was regarded as 'the most gorgeous ice type in the world.'" Moon sighed and looked at me sadly. "Most days I wish I was as beautiful as she was."

"But you are, Moon. You're the most beautiful Pokémon I know." I said both in my head and out loud.

Oh shot! I just said that. Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!

Moon was quite for a long moment as her face grew red and hot. She looked away from me and stared at the table. I felt so embarrassed and I could feel my own face grow warm and I tried hiding it by drinking my lemonade (which was really good). Lilac delivered our food to us and I thanked her once again before she walked away. I tentatively began eating my food, worried I would do something to make Moon even more upset. As I was taking a bite of my meal (it was just as delicious as I had imagined), I heard Moon begin eating hers. I looked up and found her eyes boring into mine. But. . . .not in a hostile way like the way Cupcake does, but in a more kind and hopeful way.

"Wave."

I perked up and looked at Moon, a million thoughts running through my mind.

"Yes?"

"You really think I'm that beautiful?"

"Of course. How could I not? Anymon who doesn't think you're beautiful is crazy or psychotic. Or both."

Moon blushed again and I heard her mutter a 'thank you' under her breath. I nodded and we ate in silence for the remainder of our meal. Only after I paid Lilac and we left the restaurant, did Moon return to speaking to me.

"T-thank you for lunch Wave." I could tell she was nervous, but why?

"Of course. I'm glad you enjoyed it." I gave Moon a smile which caused her to blush and look away.

Does she. . . .like me? No, that can't be it. It must be something else.

"So what would you like tot do next?" I asked, looking into the Umbreon's beautiful golden eyes.

"I uh. . . .um. . . .how about uh. . . ."

Suddenly a thought popped into my head.

"How about we go somewhere only we know?"

Moon looked at me, a little confused. "Where?"

"The beach by the cave. I think we're the only ones who know about it. Why don't we go there?"

"Oh uh. . . .s-sure. Why n-not?"

"Then let's go!"

I happily began almost skipping through town, followed by Moon who was less enthusiastic. As we reached the bridge, I saw that the sun had as just beginning to set. I looked around the bridge and was pleasantly surprised to see two familiar Mon l aning against the railing and each other.

"Well if it isn't Sandy and Flower. How are you two?" I asked walking up to the couple.

"Comrade Wave! And Moon as well!" Th Alolan Sandslash wrapped me up in a large Ursaring hug, squeezing the breath out of me. "I am doing splendid my friend. I now have a girlfriend and I could not have gotten one without your help Wave. You have my gratitude."

I smiled as the ice-steel type set me down.

"Of course Sandy! Anything for you! I'm so glad things worked out between you and Flower!" I stepped closer to Moon as I sensed that she was feeling out of place.

"Y-yeah. T-thank you Wave. I'm so glad that you helped me meet Sandy. He's so nice and I love him so much. Thank you." Flower said, leaning her head against Sandy's shoulder.

"Um. . . .Wave. Don't we uh. . . .have somewhere to be?" Moon glanced over at me before looking at her paws.

I looked down at her as I realized she was right. "Oh yes! You're right. We should get going. It was so nice to see you guys. And together! See you later!"

"Good bye Comrade!" Sandy said, pulling Flower closer to him.

"B-bye Wave." The Bayleef said, blushing slightly.

I waved to my friends and me and Moon hurried on our way to the beach. The trees seemed to dance in the evening breeze as we ran through the forest, almost like they were possessed by ghost type Pokémon. As we moved through the forest, we passed near both me and Moon's dens. I knew we were getting closer to the spot as we passed the small pond that Branch and the others had found us at. Passing the pond, I quickened my pace even more, practically running now. Moon called for me to wait up, causing me to slow down so she could catch up. As we finally broke through the treeline and moved from grass and dirt to sand, the sun was halfway past the horizon, appearing like a Pecha Berry slice sitting on a dark table.

I went and sat down at the edge of the water and looked out across the ocean, watching the sun descend further. I heard and felt Moon sit down next to me and I smiled. We sat in silence for a long moment just watching the sunset. When the moon began to rise behind us, I turned and looked at the Umbreon next to me.

Now. A voice whispered in my head. Tell her. Now is the time.

I was a tiny bit startled by the voice, but I decided to listen to it anyway.

"Hey. . . .uh. . . .Moon?" I asked.

She looked at me and her eyes sparkled like a million tiny stars inside a golden marble.

"I want to uh. . . .tell you something."

Moon waited patiently, saying nothing, which didn't help my nervousness.

"Moon. . . .before I meet you, I felt like I was walking across an empty land. A land I knew really well. And the only way I felt complete or whole was by sitting by the little stream near my den. But then you came along and everything felt better. Felt more comfortable. More happy. And I'm really glad that you did move here. It's made me so happy. So very happy."

Moon's face was red from blushing and I was begging Arceus that it was because she liked me too.

"Moon. . . .I. . . .I. . . .I love you."

Moon looked stunned, shocked even and I knew I had said the wrong thing.

"I-its okay if you d-don't feel the same way. I can find somemon else and-"

"Wave you are the most amazing and handsome mon I know. I. . . .I love you too."

Now it was my turn to be shocked.

"R-really?"

"Really."

Something came over me, like an instinct and I leaned towards Moon. She must have been feeling the same thing because she too leaned towards me.

And.

We.

Kissed.

It was the singled best moment of my entire life. Kissing Moon felt like kissing happiness itself. Her lips were soft and warm against mine. I wanted to stay there kissing the beautiful Umbreon forever, but sadly, the world would not allow that. After our long and loving kiss, we separated and I looked at Moon and she looked at me.

"I love you." I said, hoping, praying this wasn't a dream.

"I love you too. Forever and always." Moon answered, confirming the fact that this was as really as the sand beneath our paws.

I pulled Moon close to me and she leaned against me, resting her head on my shoulder. I rested my head on top of hers and we sat there cuddling while we watched the stars twinkle. Soon we fell asleep, the moonlit waves a lullaby that sent us to a place of dreams.

That's it! It's done! The single biggest moment in this book! (Or at least one of them. Just wait to read what else I have planned ;) ). But yes! They did it! Move is now an official couple! And I guess so is Flandy. But Move is the star here! I'm so, so sorry this took forever to get out, but I really hope you guys enjoy it! I'm going to try and write more often, and I'm going to try and not let this happen again.

Anyways my friends, I bid you farewell until we meet again in the next chapter!
