"Meet me by the fountain."

A text I get everyday.

You may be asking:

Well, did you not read the title?

It was Kai, my 'boyfriend'.

We're in a secret relationship due to the fact that my annoying brother Laurance can't handle me even talking to a guy. Then again, Laurance is a guy. :/

What am I doing?! I'll just go to the fountain now.

3rd POV

As you're walking closer to Kai, something doesn't look right.

He's looking at the ground.

He's smiling (he only smiles if you make him)

And more unusual things. It's honestly weirding you out.

By the sounds of your footsteps, he quickly composes himself. Once you were standing right in front of him, your eyebrow raised in curiosity.

"What's up with you?"

"Nothing, nothing." He quickly gets out his phone and starts messaging her.

"....what are you doing?"

"What do you mean? I'm just on my phone."

"No, I mean, you're only on you're phone when you don't want to talk OR if I'm not here yet. What's going on, Kai?"

"Nothing! Stop going all Sherlock on me!" He yelled. You take a step back, putting you're hands up. That's the first time he yelled at you.

"Ok! Ok..."

"(N/N)... I'm sorr--"

"It's okay. So, why did you call me here again?"

"So you know how it's (B/D/D)?"

"Yeah?"

"And how today's a special day?"

"Why is it special?" He laughs and shakes his head.

From his pocket, he got out something. It was in a black box that could fit right in his palm. He handed it to you with a small smile. You take it hesitantly and open it. Inside, showed a beautiful necklace.

"Happy birthday!" He shouts. You smile widely and hug him.

"Thank you." You whisper in his ear. You pull apart and carefully take it out of its box.

"Want me to help put it on?"

"Yeah." He takes it from your hands and wraps it around your neck, gently clipping it in the back.

IF YOU HAVE LONG HAIR:
He pulls out you're tucked in hair and used it to hide the necklace chain.

BACK TO NORMAL:
It felt cold, but it was okay. Everything was okay. He gave you a small peck on the lips.

"Let's go to lunch. I'm hungryyyy." He, again, laughs and shakes his head.

"I have to help the mei'fwa leaders today."

"Oh."

"Bye!"

"Bye!" You wave at him. Once he leaves your sight, you walk to the cafeteria, grabbing your packed lunch on the way. You go to your small group of friends:

Aphmau, Ein, and your bestest friend, Katelyn.

Katelyn and Ein are talking happily. You quickly and quietly sit between Katelyn and Ein, having Aphmau right in front of you.

You looked at Aphmau long and hard. She had tear streams down her face and dark bags underneath her normally bright eyes. But now, they are dull. You gasp at the sight.

"Aph, what happened?!" She stays silent. Katelyn whispers in your ear:

"She had a really bad date." Strangely, Ein quickly left after she finished her sentence. But that wasn't what was strange to me.

"With who?" I whisper back.

"A guy named.... Koo? Wait no! It was a guy named Kai." She went on with her sentence, but I tuned out. Kai? You know that you guys had a secret relationship, and no one knows about it, but this is just wrong! He promised he would stay faithful after that one time.

"He said he just wanted a girlfriend. It could've been anyone, and I was just free game to him!" Aphmau spoke for the first time. She started sobbing. She phone was left on the table that showed apologetic messages from about... 5 minutes ago. 5 minutes ago.. was when you were with Kai. No wonder he was on his phone all of a sudden!

"I-I really liked him.." she whispered just loud enough to the point when you could hear her. Poor Aphmau. You really should be mad at her that she likes your boyfriend, but no one knows he's your boyfriend, so to everyone, he's free game. You decided to talk to him later. For now, you took the time to comfort your sad little friend.

----AFTER LUNCH----

Your POV

We both have chemistry this period and I sit right next to him. This is my chance to confront him! Wait, no... maybe after school? YEAH!

---time skip to after school---

"(N/N), ready to go home?"

"Wait a sec Laur." I run off to find Kai. I'm gonna get answers, directly or not.
I find him alone on the bleachers.

"(Y/N)? Oh, hey!"

"Hey Kai. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. Come sit." He pats the seat next to him, which I gladly take.

"What do you need?"

"It's about Aphmau..."

"...

Wh-What about her?"

"Oh, I really don't know. The 'He said he just wanted a girlfriend. It could've been anyone, and I was just free game to him!' Part."

"(N/N)..."

"Ya know, after that last time, with Katelyn, you promised you would stay faithful and that if you wanted to break up to not do it by cheating."

"What? I didn't cheat! Heck, we're not even in an actual relationship! So why does it matter to you?!"

"..."

"... (N/N) I--"

"You thought it was all a joke?! If it wasn't real, explain those two years of being together! Explain that time you stole my first kiss! Explain this!" I held up the necklace. He just stared at it.

"Just say it already."

"What?"

"Say that you want to break up. Since this was all a joke, might as well end it since it's lost its humor."

"...Fine." My eyes widen. I didn't actually think he would. But fine, whatever.

I throw the necklace on the ground, hard, and then walk off. But I don't fully leave before I say one more thing.

"Good luck with Laurance. Let me just say, he's quite over protective." His eyes widen and I smirk, walking away.

EXTENDED ENDING

Kai's POV

"Shoot! Why did I say it was fine?!" I fell to the ground with tears threatening to fall. I look ahead of me, something was shining. I pick it up to see it. It was the broken necklace. I threw it away in anger as sadness engulfed me.
