*flashback*

"(Y/N)! Are you ready?" Aphmau asks, coming into my room. I groan as I turn around, facing her. I put on the dress she threw at me earlier.

"Oh (N/N)! Your gorgeous! Now c'mon! Let's go before it starts." We get into a car with Aaron driving. I look out the window before asking:

"Where are we going anyway?"

"Oh! It's like a ballroom dance thing. You can meet people there and dance with them. It switches every now and then, so don't expect to have the same dance partner every time."

"...so why did you bring me?"

"Katelyn and I believe you need a man. I mean, after she got with Travis, she's been trying to find a boyfriend for you."

"So you believe that if I go there I'll magically leave being in a relationship?"

"Pretty much."

END OF FLASHBACK

The music slows down.

"Switch!" The musician yells. I repeat the steps I've been doing to move onto the next dance partner, who turns out to be Garroth.

"Garroth? Why are you here?" He grabs my waist as I grab his shoulder, both of it dominate hands holding each other's. He just shrugs and we continue to dance, occasionally making conversation and jokes. After about 10 minutes, I hear another faint:

"Switch!" And I do. I watch as Garroth moves on to Aphmau, his face red. I felt an arm pull me and before I know it, I'm in a dancing position. Out of shock, I nearly fall, but my dance partner catches me right on time. I look him directly in the eyes and take in his features.

He had dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. He also had a soft but caring voice.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, sorry."

"It's alright. My name is Jeffory. You?"

"(Y/N)."

The rest of our dance we got to know each other. He has a young daughter named Abby and he actually knows Katelyn. Wow, my sister didn't even tell me about her old friends. I'm totally hurt. He also learned a bit about me.

"Switch!" I sigh and go towards the refreshments before a random guy starts dancing with me, again. I drink some soda, and look in the direction of the door. I see a car leaving.

Wait.

THATS AARON'S CAR.

Oh my Irene they actually left me.

I get out my phone to call Aph.

I groan and turn off my phone. Hers must be dead or something. I would call Katelyn, but she's out with Travis. I would walk home, but I have no idea how to get home.

Well, I guess I live here now.

I sit down at a table and just....

Until I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see Jeffory. He gave me a comforting smile.

"I heard you were frustrated earlier. Wanna tell me why?"

Well, I have no one else to.

"My ride left me."

He starts laughing. A genuine laugh. I roll my eyes. Gee, thanks for the support.

"Wanna come to my house?"

"W-W-W-What?!"

"Sorry! This is to sudden, but I really need someone to take care of Abby because I have to go to work and--"

"Ok, ok, shut up. I'll do it."

"Thank you so much! Now cmon."

He drives me to his house, which is surprisingly big. I mean, only two people are living here so...

He opens the door and I hear a faint:

"Daddy's home!"

I then see an adorable little girl rush down the stairs and her eyes light up by the sight of Jeffory.

"Daddy you were out for such a long time!"

She hugs him and he smiles.

"I know, I know, I'm sorry."

Her eyes wonder towards me.

"Who is she? Is she gonna be my new mommy?"

My face immediately heats up.

"What? No no no. She's gonna take care of you for true time being while I'm at work."

She seems to ignore the first two sentences he said.

"Your leaving again?"

"Yes, sorry. But you have (Y/N) here!" Abby's big eyes go to me and then she suddenly hugs me.

"Momma!"

... Momma?

"Abby! Don't make her uncomfortable--"

"It's alright Jeffory. She can call me whatever she wants to. Now, you go to work." He nods and goes out the door. I look at the time.

9:00.

"Hey Abby, wanna play some games for the mean time?"

"Sure momma!"

---timeskip---

I check the time again:

9:45 pm. I look at a wall to see a piece of paper.

Abby's bedtime:

9:30. Don't let her stay up any later!

"I think it's bedtime now, Abby." She automatically frowns.

"B-But then I won't have as much time to play with you!"

"Do you want me to tuck you in?"

"...like my old momma?"

"...sure. Now, why don't you show me your room?"

She leads me to her room and she jumps into bed, seeing as she was already in her pajamas.

I cover her with a blanket the turn on a nightlight. I turned off the room light and walked towards the door.

"Goodnight Abby--"

"Come next to me, I don't wanna sleep alone." I don't know why, but I follow. I tuck myself in her blankets right next to her. She looks into my eyes with curiosity.

"Can you sing me a lullaby?"

"Huh?"

"W-Well, my old momma used to do it every night, so I thought..." she trailed off. I look at her and smile gently.

"Sure. I'll sing."

"Yay!"

I clear my throat.

"You are my sunshine.

My only sunshine.

You make me happy

When skies are gray.

You'll never know, dear,

How much I love you.

Pleas don't take

My sunshine

Away..."

My voice got softer and softer. She fell asleep and I smiled to myself. I slowly started to get sleepy as well, and before I knew it, I was dreaming about pancakes.

Jeffory's POV

I come home to everything silent. That's weird, usually Abby comes running down by the sound of the door. I drop my work bag and head upstairs. I go into Abby's room to see Abby sleeping with (Y/N) hugging her protectively. I smile to myself.

"Maybe you were right, Abby. Maybe she will be your new Momma.

Maybe ."
