Spurs 1-2 Liverpool

We survived the international break! It didn't seem like it was that long this time. I didn't watch any international football, take that UEFA no one cares about your attempt to make friendlies competitive. I did see about 15 minutes of Liverpool Women vs Arsenal but I turned it off as soon as Arsenal had 2 goals, we looked hopeless. I think the head coach left yesterday. Too much change!

There was a bit of talk about Klopp's first game to where we are now so I went back and saw what I wrote back then. It was really nice to see the enthusiasm and apparently the players looking like they were trying again. I guess there was not much to talk about with no goals but the poem I wrote was quite nice to read. I'm glad I'm not doing poems any more though.

Throughout the match especially when commentators mentioned White Hart Lane I couldn't stop thinking they shouldn't be allowed to play at Wembley, they should be made to play at any other stadium, it feels like they're avoiding going home. But hey we've gotten some winning at Wembley experience we've been lacking in recent years. Anfield South.

Again I was reluctant for the early kick off. We almost scored a minute in. Mane was offside twice he didn't actually touch it but cos he tried to it was offside. It was disallowed but our confidence rose.

We had such a fast, strong start, it was Spurs that started asleep but then they took a huge chunk of possession but we dealt with everything they tried to throw at us which wasn't all that much anyway. They tried to lob Alisson from just inside Liverpool's half and skews it out wildly for a goal kick - you're not Xabi Alonso!

Mo Salah got through on goal after a misplaced pass from Eric Dier but he shot straight at the keeper. There were far too many Spurs make a mistake and we don't go on and score from it moments with both Salah and Mane.

I thought the keeper had saved Gini's header until both sides were arguing for and against it. You can't argue against a buzzing watch! A first PL away goal for Wijnaldum! Vorm flapped at a corner and he headed it back goalwards. Just crossed the line before Vorm could push it away. That was a really clever header from Wijnaldum. The loop on it was perfect. On the balance of play Liverpool deserve that. Great timing too just before the break.

Andy Robertson hit the bar to pass to Salah. He still didn't score from that.

Just after Moura's chance and Spurs' crowd waking again Firmino doubles the Reds' lead!Mane's cross turned onto the post by Vertonghen. It went through Vorm's arms and Firmino booted it in. A weird, messy goal but I'll take it all day long.

Naby Keita fired straight at Michel Vorm, who pushed over the bar. He'll get his goal one of these days.

We were trying to sub Naby for Henderson when Firmino got clawed in the face and had to go off because of his eye bleeding- I guess all his goal are no looks from now on. Naby had to continue a while longer to be swapped with Sturridge.

All while we were 2 up, the commentators were saying 3 or 4 but I was certain Spurs were going to score despite not really showing signs of it, just some wide shots.

I didn't see pretty much any of the last few minutes, the stream went off, when I got it back, they'd scored and looked like they were going to equalise. Apparently Spurs' Son had a penalty shout in that too but you can't keep up that kind of luck after our last match that was all penalties for them! It stuttered to the end when the final whistle went - I wasn't even sure that was the final whistle but then everyone started doing that end of match walk.

5 out of 5. 15 points. Still top of the league (actually Chelsea just went ahead with 1 more goal difference than us, Cardiff was gonna equalise when I started listening!). What is going on?! We're still not making it look easy by any stretch but all is well. Right now I'd happily bin off all the other competitions if I could be assured we can keep this up.

Next up PSG at home in the Champion's League, Tuesday 18th September 20:00.

I know people keep saying we've got a ton of games in the next few weeks but I didn't realise this was next, I'm glad of the latest kick off time.
