Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal

I wish I'd waited writing the previous part so I'd known the drama of Twitter and Salah "diving", we finally get a penalty after 400 odd days and yet Salah needs banning and he only wasn't banned cos the FA love us and let everything go our way. That's such bullshit, we put another 3 points on the board and no one can handle that this time looks like it could actually be "our year/ season". There were 2 dives today, ref ignored them so I guess they'll not be twitter screamed at for bans.

Yesterday I was so disappointed that it wasn't today and I still had to wait another day, tbh I wanted them to play straight after Newcastle. I was complaining about Leeds being top (don't want them to come up, sorry Milner) and Mum asked who we're above (as in Spurs/ City) and I realised in childlike wonder that we're above every single team in the English Football leagues from the top of the PL right down to the Sunday leagues.

Gerrard got me watching Scottish football as he won his first derby as a manager. Celtic could not pass a ball to each other, Arsenal did a few, Celtic did so many more miss passes for the ball to go out and I only watched about 30 mins. I think Ryan Kent assisted.

Seeing that Wolves had beat Spurs 3-1 (knew they could do it) made me nervous and I really hoped that as Klopp insists that the boys didn't see that score until after they did cos I was feeling the pressure and I don't have to do anything. Apparently they did acknowledge it but

It's always a high scoring game. This time they scored first. Maitland-Niles slides in at the back post from Iwobi's low cross from the left.

It's so unusual to see us concede that I didn't know what to do with it, the boys knew that wasn't right and took the lead 3 minutes later. THREE minutes, what a reaction.

A Firmino tap-in after an Arsenal defensive mix-up, the ball ricocheted to him and left him with an open goal for another no-look finish. He folowed that by weaving his way through Arsenal defenders before despatching a smart low finish for a brilliant individual goal. That's some response to going behind at home in the league for the first time in 364 days.

After that the game started to settle after that thrilling early burst. Both teams have looked vulnerable at the back. Robertson in the book for bringing down Maitland-Niles.

Sadio Mane pokes home a third for Liverpool from a cushioned pass across the box by Mo Salah.

The Arsenal captain Xhaka is booked and then kicks the ball away in anger. A 2nd yellow card offence but the ref just tells him to calm down, I get that that'd be a arsh sending off but theyre the rules, it doesn't matter when he did it. We were baying for a red and we really should've forced him into a yellow worthy tackle and got him off but we're too nice like that.

Salah was brought down by Sokratis in the box (The commentators were doing my head in with how they were saying his name). Penalty earnt, penalty scored. Salah smashes it in for 4-1 before half time! We've got the whole front three scoring again!

It wouldn't have counted as he was offside but Aubameyang missed from a yard out - somehow firing over the bar when connecting with Ramsey's deflected shot that flashed across the goal. That was one of those that made no sense to not go in the net.

Mane went off for Henderson.

Lovren got shoved in the box, penalty awarded. We waited 14 months for a PL penalty at Anfield. Now we're given 3 in 4 days.Salah gives Firmino the ball so he can score his hat-trick in front of the Kop, going to Leno's left and sending the keeper the wrong way.16th different player to score a PL hat-trick for Liverpool and 3rd Brazilian to score a PL hat-trick.

Lacazette came on for Aubameyang, who has been rubbish.12 touches, 6 were kick offs.

Lallana replaces Gini Wijnaldum. Gini's song was sung soo much today.

Clyne replaced Andy Robertson, who as far as I can tell is still waiting for baby 2 to arrive, they didn't mention it today I don't think. I saw a tweet that was concerned he'd miss this game or the next for the baby, no one wants him to not be available but priorities people, it's his child!

Henderson tried an ambitious volley from 30-yards but gets it horribly wrong. "What the ******* hell was that?!" joke the Kop. That's why Liverpool players don't shoot from distance! I'm so happy we're in the position to laugh when those shots happen.

I thought I wanted Wenger back but it turns out Emery's not so bad either (I'd rather face his team today than when they're all fit though).

20 matches. 54 points. 8 goals conceded. 9 points ahead. What a great end to 2018!

Next up Man City away, Thursday 3rd January 2019, 20:00.

The big one. I still remember all the whoever wins this match wins the title stuff from last time but I guess they've gone and relaxed that a bit with their stumble. It'd be great it Southampton and the alpine Klopp got points from them tomorrow but we've already been granted enough I think, this side of the season.
