Chapter 32

≡3rd Person POV≡

"Uhm, Kacchan? I think it's fine now," Izuku sweatdropped as he watched his childhood friend continue to scrub the counters.

"Fine, the food is almost done too. I can't believe the groceries you had. There was barely anything! I had to go out and buy all of the ingredients," Katsuki scoffed as he checked the katsudon he had made.

Suddenly there was a knock at the small apartment's door.

"Here goes nothing," Izuku sighed as he opened the door.

"Hey Izuku!" Kaminari yelled as he let himself into the entrance.

"How the hell are you able to do those stairs everyday?" Hitoshi groaned as he followed the blond inside.

Izuku closed the door after the 2 and walked back over to the kitchen.

"Welcome to my beautiful home. This is it in it's best form after Kacchan comes and cleans continuously for an hour because no one asked him to," he rolled his eyes.

"Someone has to, you damn nerd," Bakugo growled as he dished up katsudon. "You guys want any or not?" After the 2 nodded, they all sat down and ate.

"I never would've believed anyone if they said Katsuki could cook," Shinso said as he shoved all the food in his mouth.

"This is the best thing I have ever put into my mouth!!" Denki cried, literally, following Hitoshi's actions.

After the 4 ate, they went to Izuku's room. No one asked about the closed door on the way. Izuku was extremely grateful, he'd rather not talk about that.

"Holy shit," Kaminari breathed as he walked into the room that was littered with inventions, materials, tools, and blueprints.

"I honestly don't know why I'm so surprised," Hitoshi sighed as he walked over to the work desk.

"Izu, how is it possible that you added more shit in here?" Katsuki asked as he looked at the 4th wall that was already half covered in blueprints and no longer clear.

"It's not shit! And what did you expect to happen? I keep all of my favourite blueprints and there's nowhere else to put them."

"Dude! This computer looks high tech!" Denki walked over and powered on the computer.

"Wait! Don't- shit," Izuku grumbled as he walked over and started to furiously type on the computer, trying to disarm all of his security.

"Whoa, sorry. Wait, why do you have so many passwords?! What the hell?!" Kaminari tried and failed to keep up with his friend's fast fingers as he continued to type.

"Yeah, sorry. I probably should've warned you guys not to touch this. I just have a lot of shit on here so... there," he clicked enter and the computer finally logged in and a notification popped up saying he had mail.

"Who is emailing you?" Hitoshi asked as he walked over.

"Uhm-"

"Gosh, you guys are nosy," Katsuki scoffed, trying to get them to leave.

"Who is Kado?" Denki asked as he looked at the email address.

"Uh-"

"Kado? Again?" Izuku shot a glare at Katsuki who couldn't stop the words from leaving his mouth as his friend fumbled for excuses.

"Again?" Denki and Hitoshi both asked at the same time.

Izuku stared at Bakugo until he finally sighed and ran a hand down his face.

"So... uhm, I probably need to tell you guys something," he laughed nervously and his 2 friends gave him confused looks. "You might want to sit down..."

The 2 confused boys sat down on Izuku's bed as Katsuki closed the door and waited for him to begin.

≡Izuku POV≡

Well shit. I knew that them coming over would result in me having to explain everything, but I was trying to figure out a better way. Not Kacchan going and asking all these questions. I know he's trying to help, but man this is going to be a pain.

"Ok, well, first of all, Kacchan already knows everything so that's why he's acting all normal," Kaminari made an 'ah' noise while Hitoshi just nodded. I sighed again and tried to figure out where to start.

At least when I told Kacchan it was in 2 parts. Now I have to recount my whole life story in one go.

"Izu, it's fine. We're all here for you, don't worry," Kacchan said as he pat my back and sat on my bed with them.

"Ok... uhm... well, where to start," I laughed nervously again as I sat down in my desk chair facing them and began to fidget.

"When I was diagnosed quirkless, my... father didn't take it very well, no one did," I took a deep breath and noticed Kacchan beginning to fidget. "Uhm, from when I was 4 he started to, uh," I glanced up at the patient faces and nervous, yet supportive Kacchan. "He started to hit me whenever he got the chance. He stopped giving me food and started to use his quirk, fire breath, on me," I heard them both take sharp breaths.

"It wasn't only him though," I looked up at Kacchan who had tears in his eyes. "Everyone at school started bullying him too... including me," I watched as their eyes went wide.

"W-what?" Kaminari asked.

"The day after his appointment, we met at the park and I told him he couldn't be a hero. After that I started beating him up at school with everyone else. I was such an idiot," tears started rolling down his face as he remembered what happened back then. "I thought that if he was a hero, he'd die immediately. I had the genius idea that if I showed him how hurt he could get, that he would give up and live a normal life."

"Kacchan, that's in the past," I whispered as I watched him wipe his tears away.

"That doesn't change what I said and did."

There was a short silence until Shinso asked for me to continue.

"When I was 10, Kacchan caught me going through my window one day," I chuckled slightly as I remembered how flustered I got. "After school that day, he confronted me. Turns out I'm not very good at covering up my bandages and he had been watching me for a while," I smiled sadly remembering how I broke down when we talked.

"I told him about almost everything that was happening at my house. He apologized for everything and since then he basically was my bodyguard who would give me food everyday and walk me to and from school."

"About a month later, it was a friday and he walked me home-"

"Izu," Kacchan interrupted as he looked at me.

"Fine, fine. Uhm, so, every Friday, my... father would go out drinking somewhere. Whenever he'd come back, he'd be really pissed. So, Kacchan here always hated leaving me on those days," I laughed a little remembering how much he'd spam me.

"But, that day he never came back. I have no idea where he is or if he's even alive. I knew he was in some shady shit from the things he'd say, so it's possible they offed him one day," I shrugged, I don't really care if he's dead.

There was a small silence as I began to fidget, I didn't want to talk about my mom too.

"Well, shit. I knew you must've had it bad, but not this," Hitoshi sighed as he ran his hand through his hair.

"That's not it though," Kacchan said, urging me on and confusing the 2.

I sighed, again, before continuing.

"When I said I told Kacchan almost everything, I meant that I left something out that I just told him not too long ago..." I sat up and walked to my computer, turning on the camera from my mom's room for them to see.

I heard them both gasp seeing all the machines in the room.

"Uhm, this is my mom, Inko. when I was 9 she started to get really sick, I assume it's from the stress. She's just in the other room right now. She's the reason I had to leave at the sports festival and why I can't move into the dorms. I need to give her an injection every morning before school. That, and she sometimes has episodes that I need to help her through."

They both watched the screen, it was a little weird watching my friends watch my mom sleep.

"Uh, so, I know this guy, Joe, he works at a pharmacy nearby. He's really nice and I've known him all my life. He used to help me when my... father was still around. He managed to hook me up with the medication I give her. Unfortunately, they cost a fortune."

I watched as realization hit them.

"Is that why you have to work so much?" Kaminari asked.

"Yup! When I was 11, I got my first job. Uhm, that's also why I invent so much. I started inventing as a hobby and to get my mind off everything, but now I rely on it for money. That guy, Kado, he's a client I have. Ever heard of Goldberg?"

Denki scrunched his eyebrows together as Hitoshi's shot up.

"Wait, you're Goldberg? The Goldberg?!" He asked. I just nodded.

"That's me! It's the main source of income I have and is the only reason I don't have a bunch of drug dealers on my ass for not paying my debt. I got my job at the cafe for other things like groceries and paying for the apartment. Although, the bad part of working underground is that business can be slow, which is why I'm always so low on cash."

"Holy shit," Kaminari breathed as he began to understand what I was saying.

"Yeah," I turned the video feed of my mom's room off and stood up. "Oh, by the way, Toshi. I would appreciate it if you didn't say anything to Shota about this. He's already on my case."

"Yeah, of course. I won't say anything I swear," he said as he looked at me dead in the eyes.

"Uhm, I'm sorry about not saying anything before... I didn't really know how to say it and was prolonging it," I rubbed my covered arm as I waited for their reaction.

"Izuku," Denki spoke, serious for the first time, "I can't even begin to imagine how stressful your life has been. If there's anything you ever need from us, we will gladly help."

I looked at him with tears in my eyes and saw Hitoshi nodding along.

"Thank you," I burst into tears and tackled them into a hug. "Stupid crybaby traits."
