Chapter 37

You guys do not understand how hard it is to find pictures of these 5. This is the closest I could find and it actually works too well- (You'll understand at the end of the chapter)

I apologize in advance for this chapter, I wrote it all at like 3am and didn't bother to revise it so here you go :)

≡Izuku POV≡

"Come on Izuku, they can't be that bad," Denki called from the other side of the stall door.

"No one will judge you, and if anyone asks, we can shut them up for you," Hitoshi added.

I paced the length of the stall over and over as I contemplated coming out.

"Izu, remember, they're just proof of how strong you are. Besides, I've already told you the one on your back looks like a star and that it's beautiful," Kacchan added softly. I stopped pacing and sighed.

"You've seen them?" Shinso asked curiously.

"Since when did you learn to compliment someone? And why were you looking at Izuku shirtless?" Denki teased, making me go red.

"T-that isn't what we're talking about right now. Besides, it was an accident," Kacchan, that really doesn't help. I can basically hear Hitoshi's raised eyebrow.

I reached for the doorknob and turned it slowly after a deep breath. I opened it up and immediately regretted it.

They all stopped their conversations and I could feel their eyes on me.

My arms were splattered with different shapes of scars. Some knives, some burns, some I never knew the name of. My chest had a clear slash across it with random splotches across my stomach. My one shoulder even had a clear circle where I had been shot one day. Not to mention my new handprint covered neck.

They both stared at me with their eyes wide. Even Kacchan stared since it's been a few years since he's seen me. I noticed his eyes linger on my left shoulder where a spiky burn scar was on display. I quickly placed my hand over it trying to cover it.

"You don't need to cover it," he mumbled as he stared down at the ground. Or maybe at my equally scared legs, I couldn't tell.

"So," Denki cleared his throat as he snapped out of it, "not to be rude, but I don't see the beautiful star Katsuki was talking about? I suppose if you squint this one sorta could pass as one," he said pointing at a burn on my elbow. It was clear he was trying to brighten the mood while also showing he wasn't judging me, but I really didn't want to turn around.

My hesitance must've shown on my face since Shinso spoke up next.

"Izuku, there's no need to be embarrassed. Katsuki wasn't lying when he said they just prove how strong you are," he gave me a small smile which gave me the small bit of confidence I needed.

I slowly took a deep breath and turned around. This time, I couldn't see their faces and I didn't hear any noise.

I am painfully aware of the giant burn scar I have nearly covering my whole back. It looks similar to a star since that's the way the fire spilled over my back when I would curl up.

I was scared of how they would react, but I sure as hell wasn't expecting to feel a finger trace around one of the edges. It was a warm, soft touch that sent a slight shiver down my spine.

"What do you know, it does look like a star," Denki breathed as I turned back around and he retracted his finger.

"So, should we get going? I'm pretty cold in just a towel," Hitoshi said with a shiver as he rubbed his arms.

"You good to go Izu?" Kacchan asked me as I smiled at them accepting my scars.

"Yeah, I'm good."

Shinso and Kaminari went ahead of us but I stayed a little behind with Kacchan.

"Kacchan, I'm not mad about this," I calmly say as I point at my shoulder.

"But I gave you that," he whispered.

"Back then you did do some stupid things, but you were just trying to protect me. Besides, all that matters is that you apologized and have changed," I gave him a smile that he returned. We walked out into the hot springs with me slightly behind him.

"Hey! What took you 2 so long?" Sero called out as we walked over to where Denki was 'subtly' splashing Shinso.

"Just changing," Kacchan shrugged. He was well aware I was using him as a shield, but he didn't do anything to help, or out me on it.

"Where's Izuku? Was he really as tired as Mr Aizawa said and fell asleep or something?" Shoto asked as he came over to our slowly forming group.

"Nah, he's right behind me," Kacchan said as he started to lower himself into the water.

I immediately followed and sank down fast enough so no one got a good look. I slowly resurfaced with only above my mouth showing.

"Izu, it's really not that bad," Kacchan said as he sat down.

"What is?" Shoto asked, completely clueless.

I merely blew bubbles in the water as he looked at me.

We sat at the end of the springs so it was like we had our own corner for the 5 of us while the rest of the boys relaxed in the rest of the water.

We sat in silence for a few minutes. It was rather relaxing, I wish I could sit normally instead of squatting to be mostly submerged, but it was also nice to have my neck under. I lifted my head a bit more so my chin was above water when Denki started talking.

"This is so boring!" He whined.

"It's a bath, what did you expect?" Hitoshi asked him with a raised eyebrow as he opened one of his closed eyes.

He stopped and thought for a moment before an idea came to mind, "Let's have a chicken fight!"

"You want us to climb onto each other's shoulders and splash each other while only in towels?" Kacchan asked with a confused face.

"Well, when you put it like that it sounds awkward."

"Besides, I don't need to be on someone's shoulders to splash you," Hitoshi said as he suddenly dunked Kaminari into the water.

"Oh it is so on!" He yelled once he resurfaced.

They continued to try and dunk and splash each other until he got a giant wave on me and Kacchan.

Kacchan immediately started to rapidly splash them, knocking out a large amount of water and then ducked them both.

I laughed at their stunned faces when they came back up for air.

"Bakugo," Shoto said with an intense aura. "You splashed all of that water over them and onto me," he looked up and quickly dunked Kacchan.

They all continued dunking each other until Kacchan dunked me instead by accident. I was shoved under the water and inhaled all of it. When I came up I started coughing it all out as they laughed at me. I glared at them all and quickly stood and dunked them all and held them down for a few extra seconds.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" Kacchan gasped as he coughed up water.

"What did I do to you?! Stop targeting me today!" Kaminari cried.

"How the hell did you hold all of us and keep us down for so long?" Hitoshi croaked out between breaths.

"That was cruel, now you pay," I was shocked by Shoto's words and was then tackled down under the water with him.

I splashed and kicked until I came back up only to see the dripping forms of my friends who then came over and joined in the tackle.

Strangled gasps for breath, yelps, and threats could be heard between all the water being splash throughout the hot springs.

"What are they doing over there?" I heard Kyoka ask from the other side of the wall as I slowly creeped towards the edge of the hot springs, away from the others.

"Do we really want to know?" Momo asked with a laugh.

"Probably not, ribbit," Tsu added as they all laughed.

"Whatever it is, it sounds like fun! I wish we could go over and play too!" Hagekure whined.

"From the sounds of it, I'd bet it's Bakugo, Kaminari, Shinso, Izuku, and someone else," Mina listed us off.

"I think I heard Todoroki saying a threat to someone," Ochako commented.

Why are all of the girls talking about us? Are we really so loud that it's the only conversation starter?

"Izuku! Don't even think for a minute you can get out of this and listen to girl talk instead!" Shinso yelled as he splashed me.

"You say it like I'm some creep! It's not like that! I was only listening because they were talking about us!" I cried right before I was dunked again.

I tried swimming away from them, but ended up splashing more people.

"Uh- sorry?" I tried but it was to deaf ears.

Soon enough, almost everyone was splashing and dunking each other trying to get back at being dunked or splashed themselves.

"I SAID I WAS SOR-"

"That's enough!" Everyone froze and turned to Iida who was standing on the other end of the hot spring. Denki splashed Ojiro one more time, which earned him a stern glare.

"What's wrong Iida?" Sato asked.

"This is a public bath! Not some children's swimming pool! We were given this place to relax, not fool around! You 5," he pointed at our small group in the back that had gotten slightly separated, "you started this and should apologize immediately for interrupting this peaceful atmosphere!"

"Maybe you should apologize for interrupting this fun atmosphere," I scoffed at him with an eye roll which earned me a few giggles and muffled laughs, even some from the girls' side.

"Izuku! As class president, I must ask you to leave right now!"

"Wait, wait, wait. I was the one who first started this, why should he have to leave?" Hitoshi asked, getting defensive.

"I'm sure some of you must've missed it in the commotion, but Izuku is displaying an awful amount of scars and that is not appropriate!"

My eyes widened at his words and all my forgotten insecurities came back as everyone looked back at me, some shocked, others had unreadable expressions.

"He is clearly a delinquent and not befitting of a student of UA!" I shrunk in on myself from his words as I tried to figure out how to get away.

"So, you're saying since he has scars, he shouldn't attend UA?" Shoto asked with a monotone voice.

"Yes! He is shamelessly playing around with an unthinkable amount!"

"I have a scar. Are you saying I shouldn't be here either? This is the first time he is showing his around us, while I always have mine on display."

I looked over at Shoto, shocked, I wasn't expecting him to stand up for me.

"Well, this is different!"

"How exactly? Does it really matter how many he has or how little others have?"

"He is clearly a delinquent! Those scars are not normal!" Iida said, getting flustered.

"Maybe you should mind your own business! Just because they're not to your standards doesn't give him any less of a reason to be here," I looked over at Denki to see him with a pissed off face.

"Do you not understand how he is tarnishing UA's prestige image?!"

"I have a scar too," Eijiro added as he stared at Iida.

"Principal Nezu even has a scar," Shoji said as he glared at the worked up Tenya.

"Yeah, he isn't tarnishing anything," Hitoshi growled.

"ARE YOU NOT LISTENING TO ME?! HE HAS AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF SCARS THAT ARE CLEARLY FROM DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO ELSE HAS SCARS! HE IS A DISTURBING SIGHT THAT DOES NOT BELONG AT UA!" He screamed at us, leaving everyone silent

His words cut me like a knife. I know how my scars look, I knew this is how people would react. As they should. They are all ugly and shameful.

"Uhm, excuse me, " I quickly whispered as I got out of the water and ran back to get dressed.

I ran to the nearest changing stall with my clothes with me.

This is why I wear long sleeves.

This is why I wear high collars.

This is why I don't open up to people.

"Izu? Are you ok?" Kacchan's voice filled the room that was followed by multiple sets of footsteps.

"Hey, Izuku, don't listen to what he said," Hitoshi said softly as he got closer to the door.

"Yeah, he was being a giant ass who doesn't know anything," Denki said with venom in his voice. I've never seen him this mad.

"What Iida said wasn't manly at all," Eijiro's voice shocked me as it joined in.

"He doesn't understand anything. He doesn't know the pain of receiving scars like those," Shoto's pained voice came that screamed how he understood what I went through in his own way.

"I don't know why we would elect someone as rude as him for class president," Shoji's voice called out with a sigh.

"That's a mistake we will need to fix very soon," Tokoyami muttered.

I smiled to myself hearing all of the boys either comforting me, or complaining about Iida.

I opened the door with a small smile.

"You guys look like a group of strippers or something just standing there in towels waiting for me," I laughed as I saw some of their faces go red.
__________
"Hey Kacchan?" I called as everyone else left the changing room to go get ready to sleep.

"What's up?" He asked me as he walked closer.

"There's something I've been meaning to tell you, it's about my job," at the mention of my job, he straightened slightly.

"Is something wrong?" He asked with worry, lacing his words.

"Around the end of your internships, I got this weird order for a bunch of gas masks and specialized weapons. When I made the trade, there was this weird guy with a bunch of burn scars. After we made the deal, I left immediately like always. When I watched him look up, he activated his quirk for a minute, they were blue flames and I'm pretty sure he was going to burn me up," I looked up at his shocked face. "I got a really bad feeling about it and having to do with UA."

"Have you told anyone else?" He asked me after a moment of thinking.

"No. I figured there wasn't enough information to do anything, so it'd just be unnecessary worry."

"I agree. Your gut feelings are usually right, but we have no idea of when or where it'll happen. Besides, it's not worth getting caught as Goldberg. For now all we can do is wait."
