ten

"This day couldn't get any worse huh?"

You don't know what to feel anymore. Your emotions were so numb that nothing bothers you.

Because the queue was longer than a centipede. To the point where the end of the line can almost reach the exit door. The food served was not much to your favour either. Sometimes, even if you had filled your stomach with food but if it's not that delicious, the hunger you feel will not be fulfilled yet.

Rindou noticed how pissed you are.

Is he going to say 'in your face' to you?

Or just laugh it off like an asshole?

No, he didn't.

But instead he...

"You can share my onigiri if you want."

Heh?

You stared at him in disbelief.

There ain't no way.

There ain't no way someone self-centred like him would offer food to people. Like hell will he care about other people.

That's where you assume that he might just be joking. It could be that he just wanted to test how easy he can trick you.

"Not funny, Haitani."

Rindou gave you an eye roll. Not giving in to your accusation.

"Who said I was joking?"

Wait, he's not?

"But will it be enough for the both of us? And I'm mad hungry...so, I want to enjoy my food alone."

You only stared at his lunchbox. It's not that big, it could be that there's only a small amount of food inside it. Since it is supposed to be sufficient for one person.

"I have 12 onigiris."

What?! Isn't that like for 4 people?

You didn't say a word, but your expression can tell a thousand words and Rindou is an intuitive person anyways, and he knows damn well that you're weirded out.

"I usually eat 20 but I'm too lazy to make more."

What...

Maybe that's why Ran is way skinnier than him, he's the one that has been chunking down lots of food all along. But it doesn't matter because he's the one that knows how to cook while Ran only knows how to burn the kitchen.

Yes, Ran doesn't eat much even and he will always (no, it's all the time) give his leftovers to Rindou because it seems that the dingus' appetite can't be satisfied. So yeah, he devours his food like a beast.

But it's funny to see that Ran looks like he's food-deprived or most probably no one feeds him while Rindou kind of looks like he is overfed.

No, that's hyperbole.

But it seems that Ran and Rindou don't live under the same roof or eat the same thing, but they do. It's just Rindou's appetite is bigger than Ran so that's why Ran had a lanky figure while Rindou is buff and more muscular.

I mean, with that much intake of food? Where else will it go? Of course, it will go to his fucking muscles because if he doesn't work out or exercise, he knows damn well that he can sit on Mochi like he's a goddamn sofa. (which is impossible for him)

"So your appetite is bigger than your brain?"

God, please give Rindou a break. He doesn't know what reaction to give anymore. Because at this point everything he does or says wouldn't sit right with you.

No, it could be possible that his existence is something wrong for you.

Rindou only ignored your words and said, "Do you want it or not?" It seems like exhaustion is in his tone, I mean who wouldn't be when they get insulted every second.

You looked at his lunchbox and his eyes again, you actually do crave some Onigiris (but nothing beats pancakes) but you don't want to say ' Yeah sure, I would like that!' because it sounds so shameless. But, god you were too lazy to queue anyways because, at this point, it could be that the 40 minutes of your recess is going to be used up by you only waiting for the food.

That's how inefficient this school recess system is.

Because all the students regardless of what year is having their recess.

So the cafeteria is crowded like a bunch of solid particles.

"Let me get the free chopsticks at the front."

You started to walk away from him and guess what Rindou had in mind...

Yeah...

It's time for him to use that 'top delinquent' title of his...

...so that people will scram away from their table and let you and him sit instead. (Abusing his power is a fun thing to do)

Just as you already retrieved the chopsticks and was about to search from the dual coloured hair boy...

That's when your annoyance for him builds up even more.

You saw his ass beside a table that was occupied by some first-years and you saw them eating their food at an abnormal pace.

You know damn well.

That he threatened them to finish the food quickly because if they don't...

...he'll beat them up.

You continue your steps towards him, exasperated with this delinquent's bullshit. Who in the world does he think he is? Oh god, please send a misfortune for him so that he realizes that he's not all that.

As you were about to arrive at the so-called table, one of them had started to stand up from their seat which made your steps become rapid.

"Sit your ass back down!" You didn't scream (because that's embarrassing) but your tone was full of anger, so it was moderately loud for 'Rindou's victims' to hear.

Surprisingly, you are scarier than Haitani Rindou because it seems that the kid obeyed you more than he did to Rindou.

When you finally arrived there, you didn't want to look at Rindou's face because you are trying your best and keeping your composure for not sending a lovely punch at him.

Your eyes remain on the people situated at the table. All of them looked frightened (since it's just been 3 weeks of them being in this high school) and clearly, Roppongi High is still a new place for them and maybe some things that they forgot to have in my mind...

which was Haitani Rindou studies (not the right word to be used but whatever) here.

They were about to shit their pants when Rindou come to their table. And the truth is...he didn't even say a word, he just stood there like a statue and stared at them.

They know for sure that Rindou is asking them to eat quickly and get lost.

"Hey, kid. Do you know what you do when someone bullies you?...

...Yeah, you stand up for yourself."

To be honest, you were cringing with your own words since you sound like a motivational speaker that's giving a speech about 'Anti-bullying' (but the problem is you will sleep throughout the talk and Asuka's shoulder will be your pillow if the talk does happen)

But you ignore those thoughts.

You just don't want to let this blonde-blue haired devil get away with the shit he does. Especially when this bullying is happening in front of your face, there ain't no way you will let it slip.

You did this for Asuka too even, so why wouldn't you do it for your juniors?

"... Especially when the bully looks like a grandpa."

Rindou snapped his head towards you instantly.

His disinterested expression switched into a disbelieving one.

One of the first years snorted a little, unable to hold in the laugh but they were forced to.

It's Haitani Rindou for the love of God. The delinquent that is well-known to break bones, deadass fought a big gang (which was corrupted as hell) along with his older brother, ruled the underworld, owned all of Roppongi, someone that fucking influential...

....a single laugh by a person to him is equivalent to a death wish.

So how in the actual hell do you have the guts to insult him?

His appearance even.

Isn't that...too dangerous to do?

"Excuse me?" Rindou sounded so offended, that this might be the worst degrading remark that he had received from you.

You're 'face-shaming' him.

Out of all people.

This guy is known for his unbearable strength in fights and how easy he can pull girls (but he rejects them instead) because of his charms.

Him.

Getting insulted for his looks.

Now, that doesn't make any sense.

"There are tables outside, you don't need to take other people's tables." You shot daggers at him.

You took a glance at the first-years' lunchboxes and most of their food was still full or at a ¾ portion, which just proves they just started eating.

So it did serve that asshole, right.

For not even having basic human decency.

God, you just want to scream in his face that people here are not gonna live for him or do as he says or the world doesn't revolve around him, everyone has their own lives to live and it's humiliating to think that some of people that these days that have to go to that extent because of fear.

You do not regret at all saying that he looks like a  grandpa because he clearly does with those round glasses (it seems like when he grows up later on he's going to regret choosing those specs)

But you had your reason for insulting him that way since you want to ease up the tense situation and of course, try to make the people at the table laugh.

Rindou was still not through with you yet but then you grabbed him by the back of his collar and moved him away from the table. Trying to drag him to the outside tables.

You were pulling him very harshly and to say that you're choking him, that will probably be a lie. Because the dingus wore his tie loosely and he left three of his upper part buttons unbuttoned. (If you are perverted enough, you could have seen a glimpse of his tattoo)

And yeah.

Of course, he will be overdramatic.

"Hey, you're choking me!"

"Shut up!"

Meanwhile...

"Miya-chan?" Akari waved her hand in front of Asuka, who kept on staring at you (who was pulling a delinquent to the outside part of the cafeteria)

As Asuka realised that her friend was calling her, she shook her head slightly because she was observing both of you all this time to the point that a single noise can't interrupt her.

"Sorry."

"Did you hear my question just now?"

The blackcurrant coloured-hair girl shook her head. That's how intense her staring was. She was so worried about you that nothing falters her. Her mind was only occupied with your safety.

"I'm asking you since when (Last Name)-chan and Haitani-kun are a thing?"

Asuka played with her udon using her chopsticks, not seeing the meal as something mouth-watering at all. Her appetite vanished due to her concern with you. Although she knows you are the type to not get trampled or even get fooled easily, this situation still worries her.

She has always despised these delinquents.

And to think that delinquents are just equivalent criminals angers her even more.

God, she loathes them so much.

Because these fucking criminals took her father away from her.

"No, they're not a thing. He's just her writing portfolio part-

"God, how lucky (Last Name)-chan is! It seems like he is interested in her!" Asuka's classmate said, being ignorant to her words before.

That pissed off Asuka for real.

How dare they act like you were in a good situation...when you're clearly not.

Because he's interested in you?

Fuck that shit.

It could be that he's so intrigued with your feistiness and it might be that he will have fun toying and manipulating you later on.

That's really just the nature of these troublesome assholes.

They're misogynistic.

They see women as objects.

And only a 'thing' to satisfy their lust.

They will never see women as human beings, they will always think of them as people that were born to serve men.

Fucking hell, she wants to flip this table. That's how enraged she is. To think that her classmate was being 'down bad' to this delinquent angers her more, there's nothing to glorify about them.

Just because they are good looking doesn't mean they can't get away with their bullshit. How blind are these girls? He is still the guy that killed someone when he was just 12.

Why can't people see that?

Are they romanticizing killers?

"How can you guys be okay? I'm so worried about (Nickname)....what if Haitani harms her?" Asuka only said sorrowfully. She is not her usual self at all. She usually will be the loudest at the table and excitedly tell her stories.

She was the one that lightened up people's moods.

But now she's the one that's gloomy.

Her classmate who was busy fangirling kept quiet, not because she realised what she said was wrong but she was annoyed with Asuka's reaction.

Akari, who is known for her calm and mature nature, only reassured the worried girl, "Don't worry. It's not (Last Name) that we're supposed to be worried about, but it's the other way around. We all know how terrifying she is."

She then took a huge slurp of her udon.

"Exactly! Up till this day, I can't believe she made Kohana-senpai suffer till she drops out!" Asuka's classmate exclaimed.

Unaware of how uncomfortable she made Asuka feel when she said the girl's name.

Suzuki Kohana.

The one that tore Asuka into shred, a long time ago.

"That bitch deserves it anyways. She is so desperate for male attention that she had to drag Miya-chan into all of that." Her other classmate continued this topic.

The topic that Asuka doesn't want to talk about.

It was already in the past.

It was 2 years ago.

One of the darkest times that ever happened in her life. (but nothing could compare to her father's sudden death)

Something that she doesn't want to bring up anymore.

She had moved on from that traumatic moment but some of her friends are so ignorant and insensitive sometimes.

"I wonder what she's doing now."

"I heard she became a stripper in some cheap bar."

"Ew, she is so di-

"How about we talk about something else?" Akari interrupted.

Akari came to save the day.

She was fully aware of Asuka's disagreeable expression so that's why she halted their conversation.

Asuka on the other hand, have enough with her classmates. They are nice and sweet sometimes but so annoying and careless about other people's feelings. They never think rationally about what they're talking about and they love mocking others to the point it excites them so much.

Asuka stood up from her seat abruptly and took her bowl. Knowing damn well she doesn't want to stay at the table anymore.

If the food did have feelings, it could cry a river since it was barely even touched by her but she was about to throw it all away and waste it.

"I'm full." That were the last words that she said to them and she walked away from the table.

▌│█║▌║▌║ ᴅɪɴɢᴜs ║▌║▌║█│▌

"You waiting for the food to walk into your mouth or something?" Rindou said while stuffing the whole onigiri in his mouth, making his cheeks puffed out. (he looks like a bunny when he does that)

You rolled your eyes when you heard his sarcastic comment. You didn't go straight away to his food because you were trying to be polite and wanted to wait for him to offer you.

That's basic courtesy.

Plus, he says that he made them on his own and that scares you for sure.

What if it's not delicious or you'll get diarrhoea from it?

It's not like anyone will trust a delinquent's cooking.

You slowly moved your chopsticks to the onigiri while Rindou just waited for you to take one. (because he doesn't want to clash his hands with yours) And of course, he wants to know your reaction towards his cooking because as someone cocky, he knows damn well that he's a great cook and he can be a representative of Japan if there are international competitions. (that's what he thinks though)

His brother, his underlings and every goddamn human being that have ever tasted his food always give positive feedback and how they adore his cooking a lot.

So obviously.

You're going to do the same thing too.

After getting too many insults from you, he was hoping for a compliment or something nice from you at least.

As you took a big bite from the onigiri, you started chewing and for the love god....

.... it was incredibly delicious.

...These are so good, I'm gonna cry from happiness.

You were trying your best to hold yourself from making a surprised face because...you know for sure that Rindou is going to brag about it. (That's how conceited people will act, it's expected)

When you made eye contact with him, he had this annoying smug grin on his face and it's like you can read what's in his mind which is 'I know my cooking is good, you don't need to tell me.'

"How is it?" He rested his chin on his hand, he looked way too happy than he's supposed to be and you didn't even say anything yet about the food.

He's that overconfident that you're going to compliment him.

Well, little did he know...

....you rarely praise people because most people will think you were being sarcastic when you were deadass being genuine.

That's just who you are.

Terrifying people is your skill instead.

"It's.....

....edible." A teasing grin formed on your face, you were so satisfied when you see his reaction.

He put his hands away from his chin and his smile faded away instantly. That's not what he expected at all.

Although you didn't say his cooking is shit, that is just one backhanded compliment. Something that maybe he rarely gets from anyone. I mean, he's Haitani Rindou people praise or worship him, and even if there are people that despise his guts, they would just talk behind his back. They were not daring enough to spout insults in his face.

No, wait.

That's right.

You're the only one daring enough to insult the shit out of him to the point he is fed up to defend himself.

"That's a half-assed compliment." He said while aggressively picking up one onigiri with his chopsticks.

You shrugged your shoulders. This was so entertaining to you, seeing how disappointed he is from your remark before. That's what he gets, for being conceited all the time. You're literally like making this type of insulting thing to him like a necessity for you to do. You just can't let him catch a break.

▌│█║▌║▌║ ᴅɪɴɢᴜs ║▌║▌║█│▌

On god.

You already ate 6 of his onigiris. And you can't have any of it anymore. You can't deny that it was the most appetizing onigiri you have ever had and it could be that you can rank it even higher than your mom's.

All you did was stare at the 3 onigiris left in Rindou's lunchbox. God, it was so tempting that if you were crazy enough, you want to snatch all of them and run away from the table as fast as you can. (it'll be logical if Rindou was chasing after you for snitching his onigiris)

Rindou noticed your staring and yeah, he knows that you like his onigiris very much and wants more of them.

Possibly, he is just gonna take the lunchbox away from you and keep it all to himself. Since he will make it like it's his revenge to you for giving such a lousy compliment before.

But Rindou is sure full of surprises.

"Go ahead and finish it." he pushed the lunchbox towards your direction.

Your mouth fell agape. Not having the right state of mind to comprehend this situation.

Holy shit.

Is this a joke?

"But this is your food." Just as you were going to push the lunchbox back to him, he halted it in a flash.

"It's okay, I had breakfast and you didn't."

What is wrong with him?

This can't be real.

All you did to him was be mean and insult him endlessly but still, he choose to be nice.

There is something suspicious about him.

Is he going to use this good deed of his for something?

Sure seems that he is the type that doesn't do nice things without people paying in return.

You're not gonna lie, you were so joyous that you want to jump until you reach the roof but that's humiliating. And again, you're egotistical, you just kept your composure and act like you were thankful that he offered it but not much.

But clearly, it's not the right time to feel happy...yet.

"Are you expecting for me to repay you with something?"

Huh?

Rindou furrowed his eyebrows with your sudden question. He never thought of anything in return. It was him being genuine. That's just it.

"No."

You were surprised by his answer again. Hearing his answer, it is clearly showing that he does not expect anything in return. Just like most people will say, people can't read Ran that much since he is so good at acting nice and being trustworthy to others while Rindou is just straight up an open book, only because of his bluntness and honesty.

Yeah.

He can't be lying.

Because he's shit at it.

It's either he gives an honest answer or he shuts up.

That are the only two choices.

You kept quiet and took the lunchbox nearer to you since you'll be the only one to enjoy it. Your mind still can't process this situation, because this nice gesture will be the last thing that you expect him to do.

When anyone hears the word 'delinquent', there's going to be negative comments from others and it could be lazy, violent, vile, atrocious and other bad shit only.

But he's not depicting that at all.

What is going on, right now?

You were in such confusion, to the point that you said these words abruptly. You don't know why you say it but maybe you are being genuine, just like he did.

"You're surprisingly nice."
