sixteen

"9!" The PE teacher shouted, his voice echoing in the gym. The gym was certainly huge, with bleachers that were built on both sides of it but it was specifically used for the badminton players to practice. So the court was quite large for a school level one.

Then, there you were, struggling to put up with your weight as your arms tremble like crazy, not knowing when this pain is going to finish, it felt so endless and somehow you felt like time was moving so slow, just like every tedious lesson that you are in. Your other friends or should I say the other victims were cheering on because their last push-up was about to come soon, but you were just halfway from yours.

Oh, how fun it was to be in their shoes.

"10!"

The other girls plopped their bodies onto the floor as they sighed loudly in unison, their exhausted faces were decorated with a smile and also laughter. While you, on the other hand, had to do the extra 5 push-ups alone.

You can't be jolly like them.

You thought you could cheat your way by doing it at a  fast pace but unfortunately, the PE teacher counted for you and your friends and every one of you had to do it simultaneously so that no one will do less or more (who is crazy enough wanted to do more?).

So in the end...you had to suffer from embarrassment, doing the last 5 pushups alone while your other classmates watch you in enjoyment, jovial to know that they're not in your unfortunate situation.

"You! Remember that you have to do 5 extra pushups!" The PE teacher screamed at you as if you were trying to run away when you clearly didn't do that and you were already in position even, waiting for him to count the last 5 numbers and later this shit will be over.

Does it look like I'm running away?!

"11!"

The other girls had stood up from their laying position and none of them wasted any moment in staying in front of your classmates, they took their steps back to the bleachers and left you enduring your misery. None of them was nice enough to stay by your side anyway.

It was humiliating to see some eyes on you and the way that your arms wobble like they were air dancers in front of those gas stations, it was so obvious that you're so atrocious with this exercising stuff. Your knees started to get tired since you were pressing on the floor real hard, that was the only way that you can maintain your balance and even if knee pushups ease girls since it is scientifically proven that their upper body is not strong as males, but damn your knees hurt like hell, somehow doing the men pushups might be easier for you.

15 was supposed to be a small number but it felt like forever when it comes to pushups.

"12!"

"Do you know anyone named Asuka?" Haru suddenly asked a random question to Rindou that was still busy looking at you, struggling with those pushups.

Pushups are a piece of cake for Rindou since he loves muscle training and no matter how arduous a workout technique would be, Rindou had mastered all of them. Even if he might have spent his 2 years in juvenile, there was not even a single day that he left out from exercising. The worst achievement he could get was working out once a week, so yeah, he never leave it out of his schedule.

It was like a part of his soul. If he even has the intention to skip a muscle training session, he will end up weightlifting dumbells in the end since he felt guilty if he dares to do that. His day will feel not right and considering that he reads a lot about things that can keep his body healthy, why will he choose to laze around when there is a choice for him to avoid weird diseases from infecting his body?

He is no athletic trainer of course, but God your pushups are so horrendous that he wanted to cry looking at your state. It's not like he wanted to go up to you and go teach you to do pushups the right way, at this point, with your circumstance, he rather volunteers himself to finish up for you instead. Because in your condition, there's no hope of you getting better.

Rindou later turn to that aggravating voice that was ringing in his left ear, not having the energy to be against that person.

"Who's that?"

"The prettiest girl you will ever see," Haru said with a flirty grin on his features and he lifted his eyebrows a few times, it was like he intended to give that smile to Asuka but instead Rindou was the victim to witness it.

This guy sounds like a creep.

"13!"

Rindou was about shift back his attention to you but still, Haru wants Rindou to listen to what he had to say about his undying love for Asuka. Because Haru thought that every word he says will be so interesting and he bet that Rindou will get intrigued if he proceeds with his story later on.

"You seriously don't know? Ponytail. Her hair's like dark purple or blue, no it's like blackcurrant colour. And her eyes are light green."

Although Rindou doesn't want to get back to this conversation with this annoying guy, his brain automatically tries to process and remember anyone that has those specific features. But it seems like it was impossible since there were too many students in this school and it could be that he doesn't give a damn about anyone that passes by him.

And for him, what matters is he remembers your feature which was having (hair colour) hair and (eye colour) eyes since you both had an agreement of being friends so why bother about anyone else? Even if there is a huge crowd, he will end up just detecting you and everyone else will be nonexistent in his eyes.

It was like a waste of time to him that he needs to remember every other human being in this school. Sometimes he even forgot who are his underlings since there are many of them.

So Haru is asking for him to remember his crush's features from almost a thousand students in the school?

Dream on.

"She also has that angry face on her. Like it's her resting face."

In an instant, with only the word 'angry face' coming out of Haru's mouth, Rindou had already guessed who it is.

It was the girl that was about to pepper spray him yesterday.

"14!"

"You mean, (Last Name)'s friend that barged in the class yesterday?"

Haru's eyes widened in shock when he heard Rindou's words. Since when did Asuka enter their class? Is Rindou speaking nonsense or did he state the wrong person? But he did say (Last Name)'s friend so who else will it be if it wasn't Asuka?

It's not like you don't have any other close friends but you and Asuka are like magnets of opposite poles, sticking together and difficult to be far apart because at this point, if a pair of lovers say they want to be Romeo and Juliet, then a pair of best friends will say they want to be Asuka and you since you both were so inseparable like you guys have invisible handcuffs on each other's wrists.

"You serious?" Haru said in disbelief.

How can he didn't catch up to any of this? Like he needs to be the first person to see or even notice Asuka, it was a priority in his life that Asuka's whereabouts are something that needs to be known to him.

Every little detail about Asuka, any people can go ask him because he turns out to be a 'manual book' for her and knows everything.

So...it sounds possible if he doesn't know that Asuka came to your class yesterday? He felt like he was left out.

Rindou kept with his nonchalant expression, it was so obvious that this annoying guy (yes, Rindou still doesn't know his name and never bother to ask) has a crush on that Asuka girl that he was talking about. From the looks of it, he presume you might be irritated with Haru's existence especially when he noticed how pestiferous this green-haired boy can be, but that was just his theory. Even if he was not associated with Asuka or known him for the longest time, he still can't stand the boy at all.

And you...with that cruel behaviour of yours, it doesn't sit right with him if you get along with Haru and knowing that the guy told a story of you kicking a ball to his face, it might be as well that you're against him being with Asuka too.

"Akio, is it true that Asuka went into our class yesterday?" Haru turned himself to Akio that was situated behind him.

As the guy was about to answer Haru's curiosity, he found Rindou's menacing eyes on him and he can't help but stay silent and shook his head aggressively at Haru.

Haru stayed dumbfounded by the situation, he did realise that Rindou somehow took Akio's seat yesterday but he didn't know that the guy is still in fear to this very day.

All of that happened so quick yesterday, the way Rindou's presence, change the air in class. With the classmates feeling overwhelmed to the seats suddenly got altered. But yet again, he doesn't remember when Asuka barged into the class.

Of course, he wouldn't. He was busy creating a new ocean with his drool pooling on his table when Asuka was causing a scene. Guess his love for Asuka couldn't succeed for him to shift back to reality and wake his lazy ass up.

"15!"

Finally!

You panted heavily as that horrible hell that you were in was finally come to an end. Your body was sweating like you just got splashed by a nearby car and you sure didn't want to do anything then sleep because damn you were so exhausted.

You think that you don't have the energy to further on with any sport that the PE teacher had in mind. You wanted to skip this class and drop this subject because it was all just making you exasperated and you know for sure that you were going to fall asleep in the next class.

But it doesn't matter what class or when, you will still be in dreamland no matter what.

That's how you will always be anyways.

The smart girl that is never alive in class but somehow aces every subject and won Academic Excellence Award every year. Be it in middle school or high school, that award will run its way and come back to you. No one has ever stolen it from you.

That's why some of your classmates can't understand how in the world did you become a top student when you were barely there in class to pay attention and stay focused.

Sometimes the teacher was confused but some were accustomed to your behaviour and let you be since you were intelligent enough to handle your academics independently.

People do envy you.

But if they have known the real truth about your story, they might be grateful for not having to get through what you were forced to face long ago.

You stood up from your laying position and walk your way back to the bleachers, you wanted to catch back your breath and at least sitting just for a  few seconds can help you regain your normal breathing rate again.

But your misfortune comes to you again.

"Everyone stand up! Divide yourselves into two groups, you know what to do and I think you idiots are grown up enough to do it on your own!"

The hubbub started to get louder and most of your classmates stood up from their seats, ready to be on the court and some were even excited to play.

You stood in your spot in incredulity.

How worse can this day get?

Did the PE teacher do it to you on purpose?

He didn't even let you rest for a while. And to think that he give you extra punishment for no solid reason (it was only because you looked at Rindou), you can't help but get vexed even more than you did before.

It's obvious then.

That the teacher is hating on you for no reason.

You despise this class more than any other subject, so maybe karma was hitting you back. But you can't just force anyone to like everything, there's a reason why this world has a preference and there's also the different perspective from every other people and that just makes the world beautiful, everyone has their own different storyline and likes.

So, it's not wrong for you to hate PE.

It's not your fault either that guys will be a pain in the ass and will be overdramatic when the team loses. It's like that shit will bring down their ego or something, like it's just PE man, calm the fuck down... and it's not even a real game, why are they so pissed anyways?

For goodness sake.

You can mark today as the worst day in your whole 17-year life.

Your classmates were dividing themselves into two groups, they were calling names and going into a group circle, so they will know which group member they have to teamwork with. Some were holding hands, not wanting to be opponents to each other and then there are ones that push other people to go into the other group since the number of people was exceeding.

"(Last Name)-chan!" Akari called for you and she waved her hand to come in her direction.

You walked lazily like you were a zombie, not having the slightest energy to move anywhere and your throat felt dried since all the fluid in your body had dissipated from the extra pushups that you did.

You don't know if it was necessary to get mad at Rindou, because how much annoyance can he gives to you...he was not at fault in this situation.

And you weren't ogling or mesmerized by his beauty or some shit, you were just looking at him and a sudden thought of him looking different than he used to just pop in your mind.

It's just a harmless thought.

This was so unfair.

You didn't do anything wrong at all.

It's normal to be fixated on someone that looks dissimilar to what they used to.

It seems like the PE teacher has a personal problem with you.

Stupid geezer.

"This side will be Team 1." The PE teacher gestures his hand to the team that you were in which was on the left side of the court, all of you were standing close to each other in a colony.

"And Team 2." He faced the other group.

The court was divided into two since it was a badminton court without the net in the middle. So your team was situated on the left side while the other is on the right side. Each team was about 15 people so it was quite cramped.

"Now...

.... we're playing dodgeball, losers."

The sound of everyone cheering reverberated on the court. Everyone sure loves this game due to its simple rules and also the excitement of throwing balls and running, your classmates can't help but get thrilled about it.

It might be an exaggeration but you sure do kind of like dodgeball since it's fun throwing balls at people, especially the people you hate in your class. It's like revenge has finally been fulfilled.

As you moved your eyes to the opponent team, you can't help yourself from curling a smirk on your lips.

Rindou is on the other team.

Haru is too.

This pumps your adrenaline out of a sudden.

All the fatigue that you felt from the pushups has vanished instantly. The enthusiasm in you was about to burst out.

This is a perfect chance.

To get your vengeance.

Maybe it's just Haru that you want to mess with since you loathe his very existence and you must say that it's not nice to hate someone without a solid reason but you can't like everyone in this world, that's impossible. So Haru should be blamed, who asked him to always be on your nerves?

And you don't think that you begrudge anything with Rindou (he was safe for the time being though), and all that self-conceited shit that he likes to do, you can't use it for revenge since you just have to put up with it later on or even get used to it because that's his personality.

Because if you used it as revenge, it could be that it will lead you on forever and it's going to be a never-ending saga for you.

So yeah, this game is entertaining.

PE is not that bad after all, the teacher is the real issue all along.

Before you walked to your team's side of the court, you want to quench your thirst first, even though it is not advisable to do that when you were about to do something active later on and you can get a stomachache,  but you don't give a damn anymore, you rather get stomach cramps than suffer from dehydration.

At least stomach cramps wouldn't lead you to faint.

You moved your steps back to the bleachers where your mineral water was situated. Your dumb ass forgot to bring your water bottle and you had to buy one at the vending machine.

The large ones even ran out so you have no choice but to buy the small ones. You don't even know if it's adequate or not for you. Guess you have to buy more 2 bottles if you want to survive today.

As you retrieve your mineral water, you swallowed the drink fastly since your thirst was quite intense.

You let out a satisfied sigh, it's just plain water but you were in a condition like you haven't drank any water for years, so that's why you reacted that way.

You were about to close the water bottle using its cap but then...

....someone snatched your drink from you.

Your head snapped in the person's direction and you can't believe your eyes.

Your drink...just got emptied.

There was not even a single drop in it left for you anymore.

And it was all because of Haitani Rindou.

He drank the water so fastly to the point he crushed the water bottle just so every drop of liquid in it will not be left.

Your mouth fell agape because everything that happened was so rapid and you can't even save your drink from him. You don't even have the time to get enraged with him because as you were about to say a word to him, he gave back the empty bottle that was already crumpled in your hand that was still in a holding position before.

"Thanks," he said with an evil smirk, he was thirsty and he doesn't want to share a drink with Haru because he bet that the green-haired boy has the nastiest breath on earth so it's better he just snatch yours.

Also, he's being forgetful and he didn't think of bringing a water bottle today. Probably because going to school is not a normal occasion for him and he forgot that there was no water dispenser or he doesn't even know where the actual hell the vending machine is so yeah, stealing your drink was the only choice he has for the very moment.

You stared at the empty bottle of drink in your hand, your grip on it was tighter to the point that crumpled noises were heard. It was only Rindou's irritating face that was on your mind and if only that empty bottle was him, he might have died from you crushing his bones.

As you move your boiling gaze to his figure, he was walking slowly back to his team and all you see is his little ponytail since his back was facing you.

God, you just wanted to pull his hair and drag him on the floor.

How dare he took your drink?

You expected to have that drink at least after PE when you were exhausted from running and throwing balls but guess you just have to wait for recess to come since it's Social Studies after this and you were sure enough that you will be in dreamland since the teacher is also has a voice equivalent to a mother giving a lullaby.

But was it that necessary for him to do that?

It's not like you wouldn't let him drink it if he asked nicely first.

It's not him having your drink that ruffles your feathers but the way he just stole it like it was his and even finished it without your permission, your head was about to explode, and even your ears felt like they were burning and comically, smoke will come out from it.

You threw the crumpled water bottle harshly on the bleachers and stomped your way back to the court.

I'm going to kill that asshole.

You stand beside Akari and confusion starts roaming on her face when she saw how infuriated you were. You usually get aggressive or mad as a joke, but this time is somehow real to her. You were silent like you were one of the dead and your eyes were filled with nothing but wrath.

You truly are pissed off with Rindou.

And if the ball came to you, he's the only one that you want to throw the ball at even if he got disqualified after that, you still will throw at him, that's how annoyed you are.

It's not about disqualifying him but instead, it was just to inflict pain on that bastard.

"Rules are simple, throw the ball at the opponent team member to make them get kicked out. Only below the chest level is allowed, arm and legs are fine. But upper than that, I wouldn't count!"

"Make sure not to cross the court line, because if you do...disqualified!"

"If you also enter the other team's court...disqualified and automatically the other team wins!"

"If you purposefully act like you did not just get disqualified...50 pushups for you!"

The sound of the students chattering abruptly fills in the spaces of the court, some might have planned to just lie and cheat because they don't want to leave the court yet and some will might get embarrassed since people will stare or even a team member will scold you from getting disqualified.

You don't care or felt nervous about this game, it's not like you're taking this seriously anyways (it reminds you of overcompetitive middle school boys that can't calm down when they play basketball), what you want to do is throw that goddamn ball on Rindou's face because you're so fucking angry that nothing can cool down your temper.

"(Last Name)-chan, are you okay?" Akari asked out of concern, she was beside you and she have her hand on your shoulder, hoping that it could reassure you.

You stayed quiet and didn't respond to her. Because you know that she didn't do anything wrong and it's best for you to shut up than randomly lashing out at her.

Akari removed her hand slowly from your shoulders and didn't bother you anymore, she doesn't like to disturb people in a bad mood because she understands that if people did it to her, she might blow her top too.

Everyone was ready in position, some were standing close to one another and there were also ones that are brave enough to stand in front like they were ready to sacrifice themselves, like pawns in chess.

You were standing in the middle of the group, it's not that safe because every people in front of you, in the end, will run for their lives from that ball and if you don't move, you will get disqualified in an instant.

Then there goes Akio acting like a team leader when no one made him one and he was just full of himself, he thinks like he's the main character or some shit (but who is he to be that way, Rindou can make him shit his pants in a glimpse).

"You guys, let's do this with all our hearts! Devote everything that we have and let's win this!"

Are we going to war or something? I mean, you have a point like there's no need to be so extra.

It was only the boys that cheered him on, it was so humiliating to see them getting so high-spirited. They were just the same as those immature middle school boys that make PE something that involves life and death.

Maybe it's a boy thing or it will hurt that ego of theirs if they lost and you don't give a damn if they do, but for the love god, they are cringing you out.

"Akari, what in the world did you even see in him?" one of your classmates asked Akari.

The girl only let out a chuckle, not knowing how to respond to that question because even she doesn't know what makes the qualing boy attractive to her.

Rindou that was standing at the back of his team, only let a disgusting expression wear on his face. That Akio guy sure was overconfident and all that but when he is near Rindou, he will only tremble on his knees like he just saw a ghost.

To be honest, Rindou doesn't want to be in this PE class and he wants to skip it so bad. Don't get him wrong though, he loves sports but he prefers the ones that involve one person only and don't require a team.

Without a doubt, he will say that his favourite sport is none other than Brazilian Jiujitsu. He stays up very late at night just so he can watch his most idolized person, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, beating the shit out of people in the MMA.

Ran must say that even if he loves Rindou, he was not that strong enough to stay up with him as Rindou was cheering and shouting like crazy whenever his idol was busy locking his opponent's joints, Ran was already fast asleep beside him. Even if Rindou was being loud as hell, nothing will ever awaken that braid-haired boy.

And clearly, this so-called dodgeball was also not following the rules of the real game. It is supposed to be 6 people per team, why in the world is the teacher asking the students to make a team of 15 people?

The court wasn't that large enough either, it could be there will be people that will get eliminated just by accidentally running out of the court instead of getting hit by a ball.

This is stupid to Rindou.

He wants to get disqualified as soon as possible.

He rather watches people play than join it, it's not like he cares if his team wins or not. Even worse that he wants the team to lose so that the faster he can sit and relax on the bleachers. Rindou couldn't care less.

"Haitani! You should sta-

Before Haru can finish his words, Rindou took back his glasses harshly from Haru's nose bridge. The action made Haru stunned to say anything and he blinked a few times, confused about what the hell just happened because it was so fast.

Rindou put on his glasses back, and a displeased expression was written on his face.

"Don't tell me what to do." That was the only sentence that Rindou said that he wants Haru to hear and stick into that brain of his.

Before the game starts, the PE teacher had made clear the rules of the game. Although the dodgeball itself was in horrendous condition and it will make professional dodgeball players cry if they ever witness your class, the teacher still quite followed the real rules and he is strict as hell from the very first day.

He has the eyes of a hawk that even if you make one slight tiny mistake, he will point it out and humiliate you in front of the whole class. That's how frightening he is.

Rules in Dodgeball:

- The centre court is known as Neutral Zone: The balls will be situated on the centre line and each team can only take 3 balls from the 6. The balls are already designated for each team, meaning that they can only take 3 balls from their right.

- Balls that will be thrown to the opponent are only valid outside of the activation line, which is the lines on the Neutral Zone.

LIVE BALL - Ball that is still in the air.

DEAD BALL - Ball that hits the floor. (if the ball hits a person and bounces back to another teammate, it still counts as a Live Ball)

CATCHING A BALL from an opponent - Opponent disqualified, Get to revive a teammate

BLOCKING - Block a moving ball, using another ball in hand.

DODGING - Just don't get hit and there are no specific rules on it, so it's not wrong if you do a backflip or cartwheeled your extra ass.

"Sensei!" Haru raised his hand all of the sudden.

The PE teacher lifted his chin a little as a sign to say, 'what the hell do you want?'.

"Don't we have foam balls for dodgeball? Why are we using the handball ones?"

Haru had a point, it was absurd indeed. Dodgeball balls usually are soft and since it's made out of foam, so it would not injure the players if they accidentally hit their vital or sensitive body parts.

So the ball is an important role in this game.

Then, why did your teacher put the wrong balls on the court?

Is he out of his mind?

"I'm lazy to pump the balls, just use these and shut your ass up!"

Your class was starting to get noisy again, everyone was sure terrified to play now. That handball ball is hard and heavier than most balls, so if the ball is accidentally thrown to someone's face, without a doubt, their nose can bleed or might as well make an appointment for a rhinoplasty to fix that soon-to-be crooked nose.

But you, on the other hand, didn't feel worried at all. In fact, you believe this opportunity is getting better than it used to be.

It's your time to shine.

And for you to seek your revenge.

The image of Rindou getting hit by the ball that you throw to his stomach and seeing him kneel on the ground while he winced in pain, contented you a lot. It didn't happen yet but you can't help yourself from forming a wicked smile on your face.

For once the PE teacher did something that makes you happy.

And if you were brazen enough, you will not hesitate to throw that ball right up that geezer's face for messing with you before.

The PE teacher extended his arm to the air while the other one was holding on to a whistle.

The extended arm then formed a gesture that shows the number 1.

And moving on to '2'.

In an instant, the number '3' was shown on his hand and he blew the whistle simultaneously.

Some of the team members ran to grab the ball and due to their overwhelming elation, some fell because they kept on clashing with each other.

Your teacher even shouted 'disqualified!' to people that accidentally stepped outside the court because there were ones that were pushed, which was unfortunate indeed since the game just started a few seconds ago.

The ones that have the ball rapidly took their steps to the activation line and threw the ball at the opponent team without wasting any time.

Balls started coming your way but you dodged them smoothly because you have the motivation to stay in the game. You ducked and even ran from the ball, so you were focusing like crazy whenever the ball is coming in your direction.

Once you finally reach your goal (which is hitting Rindou's stomach), you will not care less about what will happen next. That was the only thing that was roaming in your mind.

If your team wins or loses, it doesn't matter. What matter is Rindou better payback for what he did because your anger issues are slowly kicking in little by little.

And he's supposed to be petrified because he doesn't know what your anger issues have driven you to do something dreadful in the past.

A memory that you sure want to forget, but still, you will always be remembered of it whenever you started getting angry.

"I'm sorry! Please stop hurting me!"

That girl's tone and voice will always be accurate whenever you reminisce that memory.

You never felt guilty for her but instead, you will always feel blamable to your parents since that incident gave a huge impact on your harmonious family.

Why am I remembering this, now?

Even if your train of thought were deep, you still stay focused on the game. Not letting them distract you at any second.

Rindou on the other hand, was particularly not dodging any balls. He tried to stay in his spot because he was convinced that if he does that, the ball will hit him and eliminate him.

But the problem is...

...it wasn't working.

And for some reason, Rindou finally understood why the ball never came to him.

Because the opponent team purposefully threw the ball far away from him or no one had intended to throw them at him (you were an exception but here's the problem, the ball never came to you either).

So it was pointless of him to do that.

Well, guess he has to intentionally 'suicide' himself in the game.

And yes.

He has to go in the ball's direction and make himself get hit. That's literally the opposite purpose of this game.

It's called dodgeball for a reason. It's for the students to dodge whenever the ball come to proximity but someone that willingly wants to get hit...might be considered as someone out of their mind.

Who wants to lose on purpose?

Never mind.

That was Rindou's intention from the start.

He wanted to lose and chill on the bleachers.

As he saw a ball coming towards his right side. The ball was thrown quite high up so the chances of the ball hitting someone was low and he has to be at the end of the court if he wants his foot to get hit.

Rindou ran towards the ball like he was playing soccer and as the ball was almost reaching the ground, he extended his leg towards it, hoping to hear a hit from it.

But god.

He was a bit too damn far from the ball and it landed right beside his foot, without it hitting him at all.

Rindou sighed in frustration. This is not the luck that he wanted. He doesn't want to stay in this game, he wanted to lose.

It was so annoying. He bet that if he did play seriously, he will get eliminated right away since an unexpected ball will come right at him.

But right now, he doesn't want to continue playing but fate somehow sure is messing with him and making him lucky to still stay and play the game.

Rindou was so fed up that might as well just take this game seriously and wait until a ball decided to end him.

But then...

...the PE teacher shouted, "Disqualified!".

Rindou assumed that it wasn't directed towards him but as he moved his eyes to the teacher...

...he was pointing at him.

The blonde-blue-haired boy wrinkled his eyebrows, not understanding why is he eliminated all of the sudden.

Did the teacher read his mind and was nice enough to grant his wish?

Ain't no way.

Why will he want to disqualify people without a reason?

The teacher might be infuriating as hell, but still, he has that integrity in him and never abide by the sport rules.

So Rindou watched his pointer finger carefully.

It's not just him that he was pointing at actually, it was his left foot.

As he trailed his eyes slowly towards his foot, a smile start creeping from his lips.

Oh.

No wonder.

His left foot was half out of the court line, while the other one was still in an extending position.

Rindou punched the air in happiness and he muttered, "Yes!" He cannot wait to sit on the bleachers and enjoy watching other people agonize over this lame-ass game.

Come to think of it, he realised that he should've just pretended that he accidentally stepped out of the court line all this time, instead of purposefully making himself get hit by the ball.

He cursed to himself for not doing that in the first place. It was hurting his ego even if no one notices what he was trying to do in court.

But are we even surprised?

He's really a dumbass, so of course, he will never think that far. Next time, he should blame God for gifting him a small brain.

Although Rindou will always have that disinterested look on his face, this time the expression somehow vanished since he was smiling ear to ear. Guess he was happy that he finally got eliminated.

He walked out of the court while slightly jumping in every step. Showing how overjoyed he is.

The PE teacher sure was befuddled to see him so happy, the other students were angry or sad whenever they get disqualified.

He has no time to think further about some weird behavioural student and he moved back his focus to the students at the court.

But still, he said to himself slowly, "Kids these days have problems." while lightly shooking his head.

You were busy eyeing every ball movement and as things simmered down, you observed the opponent's court and suddenly...

...your mouth fell agape.

There you saw Rindou walking out of the court happily and you weren't lying when you saw him whistling too.

No.....he got disqualified already?! But I didn't get my revenge yet!

You were so devastated that you stayed on your spot, making your position so favourable for the opponent to throw the ball at you. It's like you're committing 'suicide' in this game.

But your thoughts were not about the court anymore, your resentment was also amplifying than it used to and unfortunately, it's going to take a long time for it to get put out. The situation was like throwing alcohol into a fire, making the flames enlarged than it supposed to be.

You can't decide if you just want to let yourself lose or still hold yourself on in this game, because what was the point?

Rindou got disqualified already and there was no way for you to fulfil your revenge.

Even if there is a way to revive a team member, which is by catching a thrown ball, the condition is to revive the recently disqualified member. There are other four people who got disqualified after Rindou, so the chances are low to revive him and to think that this particular action usually requires skill and also luck? Most students didn't take the risk in doing that and it's usually real professional dodgeball players that often do it.

You stared on the floor, hopeless...and not knowing what to do anymore.

But a sudden scream brings you back to your senses.

"(Last Name)-chan watch-

You hissed in pain.

Thank god, Akari warned you.

Because if she didn't, the ball might have to kiss you on the face.

Like a fast reflex, you managed to catch the speeding ball with your bare hands but the pain started to surge into your palms.

"Revive!"

Well, are you proud that you get to catch the ball?

No.

You're not.

Because somehow you're too pissed at whoever the fuck that almost gave you a Grade 2 Concussion.

Your eyes that were on the ball that was in your hand, trailed slowly to the opponent team's court. Trying to find out who was the culprit behind all of this.

In an instant, you caught them.

There was Haru. He froze in his throwing position because he was targeting to throw at Akari...

...but guess the ball decided to mess with him and land on the last person that he wanted to hit.

Which were you.

Haru swallowed his saliva from fear, not knowing what his fate will be and if he was shameless enough, he will already move his way out of the gym and never enter PE again until he graduates high school.

But of course, he encourages himself to just face whatever the hell was bound to happen and he was confident that he was not in the wrong. It was an accident, he didn't purposefully try to hurt you. He sure just wants to have fun playing and injuring someone, especially a girl, which was never on his list to do and will never be.

He moved his body back to a normal position and he raised both of his hands, looking like someone surrendering to the police.

He let out a nervous chuckle and said, "(Last Name), it was an-

"Die."

A loud thud boomed into the court.

No.

It was not the ball hitting the floor.

It was the force of the ball on Haru's nuts.

Haru couldn't control himself from putting both of his palms onto his harmed crotch and as embarrassing as it is, he drop himself to his knees. Tears pooled in his eyes, trying his best to hold the tears in because it will be more humiliating if he started crying.

It hurts like a bitch.

Nothing in this world can ever hurt a man than getting injured on their private part.

"Argh." he winced in pain and leaned himself forward to the ground, almost as if he was praying to God (technically he is asking for mercy so fair enough).

The teacher had no compassion and didn't even bother about what happened to Haru, the only thought in his head was that it was normal to happen and it will get better later on.

"Disqualified!"

Poor Haru, no justice was served to him. The teacher was not even trying to help or even showing an ounce of concern. He had only become a laughing stock to the students on the bleachers, especially the boys.

You don't know what demon possessed you but that strength that you just put on him was absolutely abnormal and you have no remorse left in you at all. Even if the guy was busy holding in the affliction you gave him, you don't feel sorry or want to apologize to him.

Your brain keeps on reminding you that he deserves it.

And there's nothing for you to feel sorry for.

Rindou that was sitting in the middle part of the bleachers was laughing like a hyena alongside everybody else. He was entertained and he could feel the pain in his stomach from laughing so hard.

That must have hurt...but whatever, that's what you get for stealing my glasses.

As the word 'glasses' roams in his mind, he automatically adjusted the bridge of his glasses, making sure it's not in a weird position on his face.

Akio entered back the court since he was the last person that got hit before. He was in a bad mood before but he got his spirits back up since he just got revived.

He was walking near you and wanted to congratulate you since he thinks that it is a 'rare' occasion for girls to be good in sports since he's just one misogynistic fuck.

"Yo (Last Name)! That was great! Never knew girls can be fire in sp- Ack!

The ball that was targeted towards you hit him in the stomach.

You don't want to hear any of his bullshit since it just infuriates you more.

So by that, you want him to fuck off your sight quickly. That's why you used him as a shield to protect you from an upcoming ball. You pulled him harshly by the collar of his shirt and it sure does hurt his neck.

"Disqualified!"

Akio grunted as he was used as a sacrifice by you. He stomped his foot back to the bleachers, murdering you in his mind.

You never give a damn about teammates or whatever, right now you're trying your best to not get hit.

It was just Akari and you that were left for Team 1.

While the other team was only left with one person, and that was just not any normal classmate.

That classmate of yours joins weightlifting competitions and he sure has massive muscles, which means every throw from him will be deadly, considering the amount of force that he will put into each throw.

You and Akari were running and dodging like crazy whenever he threw a ball and you thought you were about to cry because your team was at such a disadvantage since the other team had more balls than yours did.

A ball suddenly flew right above your head and it made you flinch in surprise. As you trail the ball's movements, it finally landed right in front of the court end line.

You moved your steps to the ball and tried to retrieve it. You can't go on dodging the ball forever, you have to counterattack to make this game end. You don't know where this endeavour in you came from, but you want your team to win out of the blue since you have reached this far, so why not just go all out?

And if you just give up easily, you will lose yourself to some man that has nothing but muscles on him.

No way your ego can accept that.

It was like you were being a pushover.

As you crouched down to get the ball, you heard Akari scream "(Last Name)-chan!!"

You were dumbfounded on why she was shouting your name, it could be that you completely forgot that the opposing team was still throwing balls.

As you want to assess the scene that was happening behind you, you turned around slowly and just like in slow-motion, you saw a ball speeding and in another millisecond, it might have just hit your face...

...at this point, you have accepted your fate.

There was no use in running because it was too late.

Guess you just have to move your ass to the infirmary, even though the nurse will just give you ice to relieve the pain that was about to plant on your face.

You closed your eyes shut, not wanting to witness your misfortune later on.

This is the worst day of my entire life.

But then...

...a miracle happened.

Everything was happening so fast and without knowing who it is, you felt a hand pushing your body away from the ball. The push was strong so it made you accidentally release the ball from your hands and you landed on the floor with your hands.

Your eyes still remained shut, you closed them harder when you fell on the floor .

Your right leg was in contact with the floor. The fall didn't hurt much since the court was not full of pebbles and the pain was only from slamming your hands to the floor a little too hard.

The only sound that was thundering the court was a loud thump and this time, the sound of clicking was accompanying it.

The noise of an object rolling on the floor was also present, and you realised that it was getting more clamorous than it used to. Like it was getting nearer to you.

The echo finally disappeared but predicted that it was right in front of you, even if you haven't opened your eyes yet and see nothing but pitch black.

You opened your eyes slowly, wanting to know that particular object that just hit the floor.

As you found out what it was, you were flabbergasted.

Not believing in what you saw.

A familiar spectacles.

A/N: Yooo, so finally they played dodgeball LMAOOO. And of course, you can guess who the hell was the person at the end of this chap that decided to pull off a superman. I like writing this chap but for now, nothing can beat the chap where the bros are fighting PFFFT. So anyway, I will not be updating till 7 July since I have face to face interview on that day. So no updates for the time being. But after that, I am completely free and regular updates will happen! And also I can't believe that this book will reach 10K anytime sooner so I had planned to write a 10K special chap (this chap is just like a filler one and doesn't affect the storyline much) I will prepare writing that chap and drop it once this fic hit 10K! Thank you so much for reading and supporting this book! Love yall forever and the comments will never fail to entertain me!
