Chapter 6

I woke up that night covered in sweat. Startled, I looked around, I was lying in my bed. Relaxing, I got up out of the bed. I peeled off my tunic and replaced it with a dandelion yellow one.

"Eurya-" I called, my voice cracking. Clearing my dry throat, I tried again,"Euryale?" I said into the darkness.

My old, Rowan wood door cracked open to reveal a small, smooth face. "Stheno." I said smiling

"Oh!" She exclaimed and embraced me. "You are fine. I was so worried. You were deathly pale and had a fever. Well, I suppose you would after that big cut across your stomach, but you are fine."

"What of Euryale?" I asked.

"She is perfectly fine, after you got rid of momma, you fainted and she and papa gave you ambrosia and that healed you quick."

"Oh, honey," I said wrapping my arms around my baby sisters head,"do not worry about momma coming back. She won't hurt us anymore."

"I'm not anymore, I know that she is gone forever, Eury told me that you banished her."

"She did?!" I said in surprise.

"Yes."

We sat there for another forty minutes or so, me running my slim fingers through her soft brown hair; her holding into me like I was her life source.

Finally she spoke up," Medusa, why didn't you banish papa?"

"There is no need, he is a good man and had some is no wrong, whereas mama, has hurt me and you and even Euryale." I replied softly.

"Can you sing me a lullaby?" Stheno asked, quietly.

"Sure, pumpkin." I replied.
"Up in the tree, the blue bird does sing,
He sings of his dream which is the spring,
He wants to fly up into the sky,
He wants to fly unto the nigh',
When it comes, then he will be king."

Looking down, I noticed that Euryale had fallen asleep in my lap. She was beautiful, her full, red lips complemented her fair skin, making her look like an albino. I swiped my hand across her face, moving a strand of hair out of it. Somehow, I knew that she would be a very smart, young lady. But, this gesture of removing the piece of hair from her face, reminded me of Deo, how he had done the same to me.

Deo, I thought. The thought of him sent shivers down my spine. No one should be that perfect yet, he was. From his wave- like hair to his beautiful sea glass eyes. Perfect.

Suddenly, a massive wave of tiredness overcame me. And I, with little sleep, let it take me away into its coursing rivers.
