Chapter 2

He was perfect, flawless. The way the sun hit his mud- brown hair at the perfect angle, the way his hair swept in a wave above his head. His perfectly sun- tanned skin, almost like had been spending the whole day on the beach. His eyes, a rich sea green, shone like search lights in the dark. They were looking for something. Then they landed on me.

Embarrassed to have been caught staring, I forced my eyes to the ground. Feeling a blush rise to my face. Consciously, I started walking again, and when I looked up again, I noticed him looking at me. He pushed up off the wooden beam he was leaning on, and I looked down again. Trying not to be noticed, I discretely started running out of the market, holding the basket that held the bread, tightly.

I reached the exit and ran. While running, I looked around in nervousness and couldn't help but to notice the natural beauty in the vines hanging from the arches leading to the market. The cracked tiles on the ground were filled in with bright, forest green moss.

Checking behind me, to see if the strange boy was following. I stopped, and noticed that he was not behind me. My lungs burning, I inhaled a deep, sweet breath of air. Tired, I started walking again. When I reached a turn in the road, I nearly ran into somebody, the boy.

"Wow, such a chase you put up." He said mockingly.

"How did you get in front of me?" I asked incredulously.

"Simple." he said pointing to the grass gap between the market and the hallway I was in." I took the shortcut."

"Oh." I whispered stupidly.

"Come, let's take a walk." He said walking away.

I followed him.
