Chapter 3

COLLEGE

★★★★★

Lida woke me up by six a.m. by their time, but the time in my iPhone was still Nigeria's time... So I reset it immediately and got to take my bath and prepare for my day..

I decided to wear jeans which hugged me around my hips, and brought out my curvy figure. And I mean the kind of Chloe Kardashian curvy figure. The jeans actually made my ass stand out, as well (I couldn't help it, my ass is originally big and no matter what I wear I can't seem to make it look any smaller). I decided on a black tank top to go with the blue jeans.

I'm not really the type that looks at my outfit or the amount of makeup on my face so I leave my face bare, putting on only a little lipgloss on my lips.

I took some clothes and shoes from the Ghana-must-go bag and put them in my travelling bag so I don't have to carry the three bags.

Lida's house was an hour away from campus so it wasn't really a long drive there since the road was smooth. Unlike Aba roads.

__

As I arrived into this new school, I was amazed. Lagos Business School(LBS) and Pan African University (PAU) cannot be compared to what I'm looking at right now... I looked around, I saw different kinds of people... There were Goths around, I saw a group of nerds, I saw what looked like the "cool guys'" group, and my smile widened my when I saw the music group with fine fine fine guys. And girls.

Lida parked the car and decided to help me get the registration stuffs done since I didn't really understand their system.

I stepped down from the car, put my shades on because of the sun and walk behind Lida, ignoring the stares I got from the different types of people around.

I had always known that I had this intimidating aura around me, that when I enter a place people can't help but stare cause, you know, my wonderful African gifts of back and front given to me by God, plus I had this beautiful face with intimidating brown eyes but people say they're hazel. I don't really care though.

So we reach the Vice's office and he gives me a welcoming smile and says he's been expecting the Nigerian girl who had the highest score in the whole school in my SAT. He gives me my schedule and time table and the key to my hostel room.

Once everything was set, Lida gave me a hug and told me to call her when I settle down.

I carried my school bag and my travelling bag and head to hostel room two four two, 242. I still felt eyes on me as I walked past the school grounds to the hostel.

After climbing a few steps and getting lost a few times, I asked some people who showed me the way to my dorm and soon I was there, 242. What's going to be behind this door? I asked, nervous. Wow... I'm nervous? Not.

I opened the door and wow, the room was better than I expected. It was neat, bigger than how I read it in those Wattpad books. There were two of each furniture but on different parts of the room.

On the right side was a White girl, a blonde, with headphones (what's with me meeting Whites with headphones). She didn't look touché but she looked rather cute, I'd say.

I don't think she heard me when I entered so I decided to drop my bags at my side of the room till I heard a shriek.

"Hey!!" She screams.

I cover my ears lightly, trying to tell her she was too loud without making it sound rude.

"Oh sorry," She whispered, taking the headphones off, "Hi, I'm Elizabeth, but call me Lizzy. I'm your lucky roommate".

"I'm M-u-n-a-c-h-i," I said trying to say it in a way she could pronounce.

"Mu what now?" She said trying to pronounce it over and over again.

"Just call me Muna," I said laughing when she pronounced "menaci."

"Ooh Mona." They don't understand the difference between Mona and Muna. Wow.

"No, I said Muna, like M-u-n-a," I spelt.

"I'd just call you Mona," and I just laughed and settled down on my bed. "Well, Mona I'm a girl, I'm not gay but damn you really have a hot body."

I laughed so hard as I saw her scan me up and down (I'm used to it) and she shakes her head and starts murmuring to herself that she got a roommate who'd steal her guys from her.

"Hey hey, I'm not gonna do that, no, I'm a cool kid. I ain't no whore, and I'm not the kind to hook up, so you got yourself covered," I said to her

"You're not American, I see?"

"Yahh, I'm Nigerian."

"What? Nigeria has hotties like you?!"

I just smirked at her and she laughed. It felt normal being around her. She was just as fun as she looked. We talked so much bout myself and herself. She's from Canada, she's nineteen, same age as me. She loves music as much as I do, and wow she has a hot brother. She hangs out with these set of people that she'd probably introduce me to later. She really hangs out with fine guys o.

Munachi! I scold myself mentally.

Thank you Lord for answering one of my prayers. I really hope you continue to help me out here.

My first class was to begin at nine a.m. so I left Lizzy and headed to school to look for my first class... Literature.

Seriously? I thought I'd dropped that subject a long time ago but I didn't mind shaa(really).

I found my way to the class and sat at the front seat, since all the seats at the back were already taken. I'm not really a front row seat person so it felt kinda uncomfortable .

I have to be early to class next time.

The professor looked so old fashioned, but I hadn't expected less from him. His name was Professor Hedger. He taught us on William Shakespeare and his life as a poet and how he lived too.

He talked with so much intelligence and wisdom that I found myself listening carefully to his choice of words and the way he said most of Shakespeare's works, quoting from sections of his sonnets and his plays too.

Suddenly the door burst open and a guy with grumpy looking face rushed into the class looking for any available seats at the back but found none.

He suddenly spots the one beside me and decides to sit on it after giving me a run down which I decided to pretend that I didn't notice.

He takes a sit and says "hi" which I respond to dryly, as well.

Boys.

Mr Hedger scowled at him but didn't make any remark and I was more than shocked cause I expected him to have detention for coming to class late(ooh yeahh I forgot we're no longer in high school). It was an hour already! He was an hour late.

Immediately, the class was over... Ohh one class lasts for an hour? Wow ..I pack my books into my bag and walk out of the class ignoring the stares I got from both the guys and the girls.

When I stepped outside the classroom, I expected to see other students hurrying to their classes or so, but I seemed to be the only one. I don't mind being the odd one out so I look at the map again to find my next class, Government.

I moved around, but I couldn't find any classes that was written Government on it. There was no one to ask questions and I kept thinking if I should go back or look for other students. I decided to sit by a locked door and put my head between my knees, tired.

"Are you lost?" I heard someone ask me. I looked up and I came face to face with two huge sky blue eyes. Ahh, Americans have fine eyes oo, I thought to myself. I looked at the guy again and noticed that he had that 'good boy but looks bad' face. His blue eyes, more like ocean eyes(Billie Eilish is the best) made him look really innocent, but he was quite muscular, not too much, just how I like it(don't judge me). I decided to talk to him. You never know the friends you can make.

"Yeah, I think I am," I said. He made a light chuckle.

"Which class do you have now?"

Ignoring his question, I decided to ask, "Where is everyone?"

"You really don't know?" He said raising his eyebrows, surprised.

"What? I just arrived here few hours ago what did you expect?"

"Today is Monday, we don't have different classes today, and the Vice is gonna walk round inspecting new students or something. It's a normal thing he does to get familiar with them. You'll get used to it." he said laughing lightly.

"Oooh I see why they all looked confused," I said, "thanks a lot erm..."

"Gabriel."

"Okay, thanks Gabriel. I'm Munachi."

"Moneci."

"Just call me Muna."

"At least Mona isn't hard to hard to pronounce."

"I said Muna."

"Mana?"

"No, M-u-n-a."

"I think I'll just stick with Mona. I'm sorry I can't really pronounce it. You're not American?"

"Dhurr do I look like one?" I said rolling my eyes. I maybe fair, but not as fair as their colour, you know, light brown.

"There's something like Black Americans, if you've forgotten."

I totally forgot. But I didn't say that out loud. He helped me get up and told me the directions to my class (that literature class) and decided to escort me.

We talked on the way and I figured out he's twenty, from Colorado. He majors in Computer engineering but has other courses he won't tell. Hmm.

He walked me to my seat as I face palmed myself when I figured out that they were starring at both of us like olukus (idiots).

"Enjoy your class," Gabriel called out before he left the class, giving me a warm smile.

"Thanks, I will," I said returning the smile.

And I swear, I saw someone's jaw drop down, though everyone pretty much had their mouths open except the grumpy dude beside me who wore a frown.

What's wrong with the students in this school? I face palmed myself again...
