I'm gonna try and continue to update every day however these next few chapters, a lot and I'm going to be super busy next week, but I will do my best!

I wake up to the sound of my alarm going off, meaning that its time to get ready for school. I toss and turn in my bed a few times trying to ignore the ringing sound of the alarm, my eyes still glued shut.

"El, will you please shut that damn thing off!!", Will croaks, his voice sounding raspy and unclear.

I turn around facing my nightstand and open my eyes, slamming my hand against the alarm to stop the excruciating sound that has been going off for the past five minutes.

I sigh as I sit up and look out the window, seeing raindrops fall against my window, they are almost invisible against the grey clouds covering the sky. I shiver at the thought of how cold it's going to be today, however, on a more positive note, today is Wednesday, November 27th. Which means tomorrow is thanksgiving, meaning we dont have school, and of course, meaning that tomorrow I get to see Mike.

For now, though, I need to get ready for school and make sure that I catch the bus. Every Wednesday, Jonathan goes to school around 6:00 am when the Darkroom opens to get a head start at developing his pictures, I'm not really sure why. Since Will and I are way too lazy to get up and leave for school that early, we sleep in till 7:20 and the catch the bus.

I get up and head into the bathroom and start getting ready. I walk back into our room and go over to my closet, seeing my dress hanging on the door of it, making me smile at the thought of tomorrow. I settle for a pair of baggy blue jeans and a grey knitted sweater, letting my shoulder-length hair hang freely.

As I finish getting ready, I walk into the kitchen and greet Joyce with a wide grin. "Good morning!"

"Good Morning El, you're in a good mood this morning!", Joyce says questioningly.

"Yes, well tomorrow is thanksgiving", I say quietly looking down at the floor and then at Joyce who is now raising her eyebrows and smiles at me, knowing exactly what, or more like who I'm talking about.

"Where's Will?" I ask, noticing that he isn't present in the kitchen, it's always quieter when he's not around.

Joyce's smile fades, and she points towards the couch. Lying on the couch, is Will, fast asleep.

I look at Joyce once again and then back at Will, then noticing. Tea and tissues cover the coffee table, and Wills complexion is paler than usual.

I hold my breath, already understanding what this means.

"He's got a fever", Joyce says in a saddened tone. "Which means he can't go to school today."

My whole body goes cold.

"Hey", Joyce says in a calming tone as she places her hand on my shoulder, she clearly sees the fear in my eyes. "Remeber what we talked about the other day, this is your chance to meet some new friends maybe. She smiles, rubbing my shoulder comfortingly. 

I sigh nodding at her in response remembering the conversation we had in the car yesterday. She is right, I need to be more open to meeting new people and today is the perfect opportunity to do that. However, that doesn't mean I am excited to have to do this. I have never gone out of my way to meet new people besides the people who have taken care of me, my friends at home, my family.

I grab my breakfast and start heading towards the door, but before I leave, I turn back around running up to Joyce, enfolding her in a hug, for what feels like forever.

"You've got this sweetie", she mumbles against my shoulder. She then releases from the hug, kissing me on the head and I smile up at her.

She signals me towards the door. "Hurry you better go before you miss the bus!"

I nod, slinging my bag over one shoulder and waving goodbye as I run out the door shutting it behind me.

The bus pulls up in front of our house right as I close the door and I run up towards it.  As I wait for the doors to open, I wipe my clammy hands against my jeans.

"You got this El, just one day, one.", as I take in a deep breath.

The door slides open and I step onto the bus, the bus driver greets me with a sincere smile. I quickly glance at him, looking in his eyes as I smile back but quickly redirecting my eyes to the ground as I walk by him shyly. Looking around the bus, I notice it was already pretty full. In the back their boys are jumping on each other wrestling, making the seat in front of them tremble. As for the girl sitting in front of them, she wasn't too thrilled and was yelling at them loudly to stop hitting her chair. However, they ignore her, continuing their boisterous activity.

Most of the other rows are filled with kids talking to one another and eating food. As I continue to scan over the bus, I see a whole row that is free so I decided to head in that direction.

I sit down, feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome around all these kids, I feel unsafe with no one there to protect. And of course, since I don't have my powers, if anything were to happen to me, I wouldn't be able to do anything. Without my powers, I feel useless. I haven't tried to see if they were back in a while since I'm too scared of breaking down if they truly still aren't back, but deep down in my gut, I know they aren't, and knowing that for a fact, scares me.

I look up to the roof of the bus, to stop the build-up of tears from streaming down my face. After a few seconds, I gaze out the window, looking at the mix of greens of the trees due to the speed of bus passing them, looking out the window helps calm myself.

Since I started living here, I've fallen in love with nature and feel most relaxed when I'm walking around outside, breathing in the delicious crisp air, its helped me cope with homesickness more than anything.

I continued to sit there, my head laying in my palm against the window, with thoughts running loose in my mind until I hear a familiar voice.

"Hey there Ellie", I here a mischievous voice whisper next to me making me jump. Without even looking up I know who it is, Brady.

I look up at his evil smirk as he leans over me with one knee resting on the seat next to me.

"Go away, Brady", I say coldly, looking away from him and onto the seat in front of me.

"Oh, Ellie what's wrong", Brady says mockingly. "You dont have your sweet boyfriend or Will to protect you from the big bad Brady."

"Go away!", I say sternly but a little louder this time.

"This seat looks free to me", he says looking at the seat next to me which is currently occupied by his knee.

"Go away.", I repeat emotionlessly, with no more power within me to deal with him.

He smirks starting to move in closer to me ."I dont think so- ",

"Hey, asshole!",  I hear a voice yell as a girl walks up to Brady. "Are you deaf? She said go away, get lost!"

Both Brady and I share the same shocked and confused look.

"Who is this girl standing up for me, and why does she even care.", I wonder to myself.

Seconds later, Brady stands and faces the black-haired girl with a massive smirk on his face.

"Or what?", he asks protesting.

"Oh, boy I dont think you wanna try me", she says warningly while crossing her arms in front of her raising both eyebrows.

"Is that so.", he replies sarcastically furrowing his eyebrows."Try me", he says clearly testing her.

As I watch this scene unfold in front of my eyes, I notice that everyone on the bus is now staring at us three, however, the bus driver is humming to the music playing through his little headset and still with his eyes on the road, totally unaware of what's happening behind him.

"Fine", she answers lightly almost laughing.

Seconds later she, step forwards using her arms wrap around his and hold him in a headlock, she is standing on her tippy toes due to the height difference but that doesnt change the power that she has over him in this very moment.

His eyes are bulging with fear, knowing he can't escape her strong grip that is keeping him in a very uncomfortable position. She begins to place her mouth close to her ear.

"I told you not to mess with me, I have a black belt in karate", she starts into his ear. "Now go away!" she finishes, letting go of him.

I smile, at what a badass she is. "Bitchin", I think to myself.

Brady automatically falls to the floor, stumbling away from us and to the other end of the bus.

The girl looks around the bus noticing all the shocked eyes staring at her. "Shows over" she announces and right away everyone goes back to their conversations, not wanting to test her.

"Can I sit?", the girl says in a friendly tone, the opposite tone that she talked to Brady in a few minutes ago.

I nod automatically as I scoot over allowing her to sit next to me.

"Thank you," I say as soon as she places her bag under her feet.

She looks up at me and smiles, her emerald eyes complement her fair complexion and long ash-colored hair. "No problem, I heard about what Brady did to you in the other day in the hallway and that's totally messed up."

I smile at her and nodded.

"I'm Valerie by the way", she says introducing herself to me.

"I'm Jane", I start. "But my friends call me El."

She smiles at me, "What class do you have first?"

"Math", I answer.

"Same", she laughs. "Do you wanna sit together?"

"Of course", I say trying not to sound too overjoyed by her niceness and her being my first friends here.

I peek out the window for a second, seeing how the rain is starting to clear up and the sun is starting to penetrate through the grey clouds.

I smile to myself, noticing how it relates to how I am feeling right now. Everything is starting to look up good, I have a great relationship with my new family and have found a friend. I'm starting to branch out and try new things as an independent teenager, just trying to fit in.  And even though I am happy at this moment, tomorrow is the day, where I  get to see my true happiness, the one who makes the sunshine through any rain. Tomorrow.

(the endings a little cringy  hhahah help..) but hope yall enjoyed, the mileven reunion is so soon!
