The Reunion, Part Two.

"I'm glad you decided to come. I think it's going to be a good time." Stiles said from behind the wheel as they road down the street towards the lacrosse field at the high school. It had taken a lot of convincing, but (Y/N) finally agreed to go during the ride home last night.

"You mean a good laugh." She said with a little bit of a chuckle as she glanced over at him, a smirk playing on her face.

Stiles nodded a little as if he were contemplating whether or not it would be, "yeah, that too."

The car ride got silent for a minute, and (Y/N) started to think of their previous conversations the night before, most of which revolved around her life and not his. Now she was curious. "So, since we've already covered my life in the city, it's your turn to be in the hot seat."

He chuckled a little as he made a right turn into the school parking lot. "Well, looks like we're just going to have to put a raincheck on that." He said as he pulled into an empty spot. "Say maybe over dinner... after the game?" He suggested smoothly before turning to face her with hopeful eyes.

(Y/N) was left with shock written all over her face. She did not see that one coming. Her heart was actually doing double time in her chest. Is he asking me out on a date? But I live on the other side of the country... not that I really like it there, but still... he doesn't know that. These thoughts ran through her head, and Stiles was looking at her, patiently waiting for a hopeful yes. "I..."

She started to say, but was interrupted by Stiles' phone. He sighed as he hung his head and closed his eyes before checking his phone. "Saved by the bell." He stated, a disappointed look on his face. "It's Scott. I'm late and coach is already yelling at everyone." He explained as he read his text messages.

"Wait, Coach Finstock is coaching you guys? Why not the high school team?" She questioned.

Stiles laughed as he nodded his head at her, "yeah. The assistant coach or someone is backing the high school team. Apparently as soon as coach heard me, Scott, and Isaac were playing, he immediately said he wanted to back us."

(Y/N) laughed at the memory of their high school games. Coach was always tough on them, but he did it with love for the boys. "He always had a sweet spot for you guys. I remember overhearing him once say you guys are like sons to him." She said with a small smile.

"Yeah." He responded as he nodded his head with a smile on his face and a laugh before hopping out of the Jeep and grabbing his gear from the back. "So, uh... I'll see you out there." He said with a grin as he looked back at her still sitting in the passenger side, her seatbelt not even unbuckled yet.

She noticed a sort of gleam wash over his face when he looked back at her, and she couldn't help but smile back at him. And suddenly, all of the butterflies that he gave her in high school came fluttering back. "Yeah, I'll see you out there." He nodded with a smile before turning to leave and shut the door. "Hey," she started again and he turned back towards her, "good luck. Try not to fall too much." She finished with a grin spreading across her lips.

Stiles laughed and nodded his head before turning and running towards the locker room. (Y/N) sat in the Jeep a little bit longer, gathering her thoughts. She needed to figure out if she was really ready to go on a possible date with him. Sure, she'd had a major crush on him since the moment she laid eyes on him, but there was just too much to take into consideration. Like the fact that she lives in New York and he lives here in California. Or the fact that she just got over a horrible break up and she didn't want to get hurt again. And the biggest factor of all, she wasn't even sure if he was actually into her in that sense. Maybe he just wanted to go to dinner as friends...

She let out a deep sigh as all of the questions flooded her mind, and hopped out of the Jeep. She couldn't decide if coming this weekend was a good idea or a bad one. She only hoped that no matter how things played out, the end results would leave her, and whoever else involved, happy. That was all she really wanted.

As (Y/N) made her way towards the lacrosse field to grab her spot on the bleachers, she was overcome with memories of her time there. Every part of that school held some sort of memory, good and bad. Countless hours spent in the library, both for educational and supernatural purposes. A couple of food fights here and there in the cafeteria. Secrets and laughter shared within the halls. Werewolves, banshees, werecoyotes, kitsune, chimera, kanima, and a number of other supernatural encounters all over the school. Stolen kisses between classes with boyfriends that just weren't meant to last. Cheering from the stands for her alpha friend who made nearly every shot and her human friend who got hit in the head more than he scored. It was a school that held four years of memories that she couldn't forget, and as she sat down in her usual spot on the bleachers, she couldn't help but feel at home.

She scanned the field and the bottom of the bleachers for her friends, smiling once she saw Scott, Isaac, and Stiles standing in the middle of the field.

"(Y/N)! Hey!" She turned to her left and saw Kira and Lydia heading in her direction.

"Hey!" She responded back with a smile and a wave as they sat next to her. "Why aren't you playing, Kira?"

Kira shrugged her shoulders, "I figured I'd leave it to the guys this time." She replied, her smile not faltering as she spotted her boyfriend on the field. "They've been super excited about it for weeks."

"It's bound to be more comedic than an actual game anyways." Lydia added as she tossed some popcorn in her mouth.

"I don't know, Stiles said he's been practicing." (Y/N) added as she looked at the other girls with a serious look on her face. It didn't last long though as they all busted out laughing at that idea.

"Please," Lydia scoffed trying to contain more laughter, "None of them had touched a lacrosse stick in four years until they 'practiced' once last week." She finished, and another fit of giggles ensued.

"So, where's everyone else? They didn't want to come?" (Y/N) asked a couple of minutes after their laughter died down.

"Liam's down there trying to convince coach to let him play, but he won't because it's not his class. And Malia and Theo are around here somewhere. She practically had to beg him to come because he didn't see the point in it." Kira explained before taking a sip from her water bottle.

"I'm actually surprised you came, (Y/N). You didn't seem too comfortable at the cocktail party last night. A lot less comfortable than you are today at least." Lydia noted.

(Y/N) shrugged her shoulders a little, "I guess this is just more familiar to me. Feels like home, you know?" Both Lydia and Kira nodded in agreement with knowing looks on their faces. Just then, the buzzer rang and the game started.

The game was going just how Lydia had predicted, a comedy act rather than an actual game. It was the bottom of the first half and the reunion team was down by five with the high school team leading with ten. It was obvious that Scott, Isaac, and Stiles were rusty at best. While Stiles wasn't falling or getting hit in the head as much as he used to, it was still happening. He had even managed to score one of the goals.

There was a minute left before the half, and the other team had the ball. A built high schooler ran with it, but tripped over his own feet and lost it. Scott took advantage before anyone else could and scooped up the ball. He tossed it to a wide open Stiles, who in turn ran a little and tossed it to a wide open Isaac who was near the goal. Isaac wasted no time in forcefully throwing the ball towards the net. The goalie had a slow reaction and the ball slipped right past him as he fell to the ground, earning the reunion team two more points just as the buzzer sounded.

"Maybe they'll actually pull this one off." Kira said as the teams headed for the locker rooms. Coach was no doubt going to give them his famous Independence Day speech after going over plays.

"Yeah, I think they can do it if they really focus... and maybe Scott and Isaac pull out some of their special abilities." Lydia slyly suggested.

"Wouldn't that be cheating though?" Kira questioned.

"Considering some of those high schoolers are like twice the size of them, I'd call it even." Lydia replied.

They continued to go on and on about the fairness of using werewolf powers in the game, but (Y/N) had an idea of her own. "Hey, I'm going to run to the restroom. I'll be right back."

"Oh great! Would you mind picking me up a water bottle?" Lydia asked as she dug through her purse for some money.

"Yeah, sure. Don't worry about it, I'll get it. I was going to get me one too anyways. Kira, do you want anything?" (Y/N) asked as she stepped down the bleachers.

"Some popcorn would be fantastic, thank you." Kira answered with a chipper smile.

"Two waters and a popcorn coming right up." (Y/N) said before descending the rest of the steps and heading towards the school where the bathroom was, but she made a pit stop first.

She stood outside the locker room doors and waited for the team to file out. Once they did, she kept an eye out for Stiles, and sure enough, him, Scott, and Isaac were the last three to walk out. "Pssst...." She said not so discretely, causing all three guys to turn towards her. Embarrassed, she offered them a small smile. "Umm... Stiles, can I talk to you for a second?"

Stiles nodded before turning towards the guys, "I'll catch up in a minute, okay?" Scott and Isaac nodded and headed out of the school as Stiles turned back and walked towards (Y/N). "Everything okay?" He asked, a little worried that something was wrong. You could never be too cautious in this town.

(Y/N) nodded, still trying to think of what she came to say. "Yeah, I uh..." she started and looked down at her feet for a minute, her words had seemed to completely left her.

"(Y/N), are you sure everything is okay?" Stiles questioned again as he stepped a little closer to her and rested a hand on her shoulder.

She looked back up at him with a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, I just, um... I figured if I gave you an answer to your question earlier, then it might help you play better." She finally confessed with an unsure facial expression.

Stiles' eyebrows shot up in surprise. He definitely wasn't expecting that. "Well, I guess it depends on what answer you give me." He responded with a smirk appearing on his face

(Y/N) laughed a little, "I'd love to go to dinner with you, Stiles." She stated as a shy smile appearing on her face.

Stiles' face lit up, from the smile on his face to the smile in his eyes, she could tell he was excited. "Really?" (Y/N) just nodded her head with a smile. "Wait, is that only if we win?"

(Y/N) pretended to think about it for a minute, "hmmm... We'll see." She answered, but she already knew that even if they lost, she would still go with him.

He chuckled, but the gleam never left his eyes. "No pressure or anything, right?"

She laughed, "nahhh... Not at all." She said with a smirk.

The doors to the hallway pushed open and Isaac popped his head in, "dude, coach is going to kill you if you don't get out here."

Both (Y/N) and Stiles laughed. "I'll be right there." He said before turning back towards (Y/N).

"Just like old times, right?" She said with a grin at the memory of how angry coach used to get at his players.

Stiles nodded with a similar grin, "I'll see you out there." He said before reaching out and giving her arm a gentle squeeze and running in the direction that Isaac just left. Before he exited the doors, he turned to look back at (Y/N) who gave a small smile and a wave, and then turned to leave, but not before tripping over his own two feet. (Y/N) shook her head and laughed as he tried to cover it up.

What am I going to do with him? She thought to herself as she made her way towards the bathroom and to get the popcorn and water before heading back to the stands.

Only a few minutes were left in the game, and the reunion team had made quite the comeback. After the score going back and forth, they were finally two points ahead. Stiles quickly became less clumsy, and even managed to make a couple more shots. Scott and Isaac had stepped up their game as well, scoring and blocking shots left and right. It was like seeing a glimpse back into the high school games.

It was down to the wire and Scott had just managed to block and steal the ball from the other team. He quickly tossed it to Isaac who was open in the middle of the field, but had the opposite team right on his tail. He looked around as he ran and spotted Stiles waiting right by the net, wide open seeing as the rest of the team were chasing him. He made a quick pass and Stiles caught it with ease before turning and throwing the ball towards the net. The ball collided with the back of the net just as the final buzzer rang. He just scored the winning goal.

The crowd erupted into a roar of excitement as the other 2016 graduates swarmed the field. (Y/N) slowly made her way to Stiles in order to give everyone a chance to congratulate him on the winning goal. She couldn't help but beam with pride as she remembered him winning the first game he ever played in and scoring the winning goal then as well. It was like he had come full circle in scoring the winning goals in both his first and probably last game. For someone who wasn't that great of a player, that's a pretty good accomplishment.

"Nice shot." She yelled from a few feet away once he said bye to one of his teammates.

Stiles turned around at the familiar voice and she saw the mile-wide smile on his face. "I told ya I'd been practicing." He responded with a shrug of his shoulders as they stepped closer to one another.

(Y/N) laughed and nodded her head, "guess you proved me wrong."

He nodded again, his grin never leaving. "Yup, and now it looks like someone owes me a date tonight."

"A date? I only agreed to dinner. The word date was never mentioned." She answered, trying to mess with him.

It didn't seem to faze him though, "Dinner... date... dinner date...same difference." (Y/N) laughed and shook her head. "I'll meet you at the Jeep in twenty?" He suggested.

The smile hadn't left his face, and it was contagious. "I hope you plan on showering in there, because you're smelling pretty ripe right now." (Y/N) joked.

He looked away to conceal his blushing cheeks, but she caught it anyway. "Noted." He said with a laugh. "I'll see you in a bit." He finished before turning and jogging toward the locker room, still being congratulated along the way.

Meanwhile, (Y/N) was feeling huge butterflies in her stomach. They were the excited but nervous kind, flapping their wings and causing her brain to overthink. She knew what was going to happen during this dinner. He was going to ask her questions about her life back east, and she was going to have to answer... truthfully, because she just couldn't lie to him.

To be continued...
