Of Short Skirts and Long Jackets

Ben Organa Solo, self dubbed Kylo Ren, was a 6'2, problematic boy of the age 17. Despite his aura of aggression, Kylo was actually quite beautiful. He had his hair bleached white and big, brown doe eyes. His body wasn't the thinnest in the world, but it suited him. He had a bit of a tummy and thick thighs. He wore loose fitting, pastel coloured sweaters and mini skirts with stockings and flats nearly everyday. He had a pale complexion and wore coloured eyeliner and lipgloss. To top it all off, he wore decorative flower crowns atop his hair. The only thing missing, was a smile.

In comparison, Brendol Hux Junior, he preferred to be called Hux, was also quite the 6'1 problematic 18 year old boy. Hux's aura of aggression rivaled Kylo's, but he had a look to match. He was pale and freckled with bright ginger hair. He wore skinny jeans and tank tops. Hux's body was lean, but strong, he hid his self-dubbed problematic body type under a large, black trench coat. He had an eyebrow piercing and three ear piercings on each ear. To top it all off, he had heavy, black boots on his feet. He was threatening as all hell and always had this cocky smirk on his face.

I guess you've figured they're not going to get along well, haven't you?

****

On the particular day where our story begins, Kylo Ren was wearing a white sweater that hung to the cuticles of his fingers and showed off his collar bone. His skirt was pastel pink and went just about mid thigh with matching pink stockings. He wore white tennis shoes and a flower crown of pink daisies perched atop his fluffy hair. His makeup consisted of pink coloured eyeliner and lip gloss. And, as always, he wore a frown on his glossed lips.

He stormed passed everyone and slammed his locker open. His cousin, Rey, raised a confused brow at him. He huffed, stuffing what he needed into his bag and slammed it shut again. He blew his bangs out of his eyes.

"The usual?" Rey said softly, her gentle accent acting as some soothing medication. She was a relaxed sort, wearing yoga pants and loose tank top with an armful of wristbands and bracelets. Why she had her hair constantly in three buns, he couldn't tell you. Her high-tops were worn out and filthy, now more of a beige colour than white. Kylo grunted. She put her arm lazily around his shoulder.

"You could always, like, not be an asshole and that would help." She said bluntly. He sighed again.

"You could always, like, not give me advice you know I can't follow." Rey chuckled.

"Right, forgot being a dickhead was in your DNA."

"I blame Dad."

"Oh come on, Kylo, he's not that bad." Their playful bickering continued until the bell rang to be going to their first class. Their silly banters seemed more aggressive than they actually were. Kylo Ren was kind of a jerk, but he wasn't rude to anyone unless they stuck their nose in his business. He was the kind of person to close off and push people away; how Rey had wormed her way under his skin had yet to be determined. It didn't take long for them to have to split ways. They shared no classes, probably due to the fact she was a sophomore and he was a junior, though mixed classes are common.

Kylo was bitter, obviously, though no one knew exactly why he was constantly so bitter. During his aggressive march towards his classroom, he bumped into someone, knocking them both back. He went to glare, but only found a pair of amused, ice blue eyes.

"Kylo Ren." The person said, a chuckle in their voice.

"Hux." He replied venomously. Hux chuckled. He wore his usual tight jeans and his long black trench coat. Hux, although Kylo was slightly taller, he tapped under Kylo's chin to make him make eye contact.

"You should be more careful, pretty boy." He said nothing more before continuing on his way. Kylo stood frozen in the middle of the hallway, face burning red. Whether the red was from embarrassment or irritation, he couldn't tell you.

You see, Hux has been pulling this shit since the beginning of the year. He's not very good at hiding his stares and wandering eyes. In the beginning, it made Kylo really uncomfortable and nervous, but Hux turned out to be quite charming. To everyone else, anyway, he and Hux had this routine of mutual distaste in one another. Though, it had turned into more of an unrequited interest. Taking no further interest in the situation, he scurried to class, making it in just as the late bell rang. His teacher didn't look impressed, but he didn't care.

Kylo plopped elegantly down into his seat next to Poe Dameron. He was the puppy dog heartthrob of the school. Sadly for the entirety of the campus, he only had eyes for the new kid, Finn. Poe offered Kylo a charming smile which he returned with a sigh.

"Why are you always so pouty?" He asked in a silly voice.

"Why are you always so smiley?" Kylo dead panned. Poe looked taken aback, then nodded.

"I see your point." Their conversation ended and their lecture began. Kylo didn't necessarily dislike Poe, but he wasn't exactly on his list of favourite people. It was a very small list to begin with.

He couldn't focus on his lecture. He was too upset by the fact that Hux had called him 'pretty boy'. They may banter back and forth, but he had called him so mockingly. He wasn't sure if it was actually meant to be an insult or playful. It felt like a low blow.

~~~
Lunch break arrived and Kylo was sitting in front of Rey with a salty expression. She was braiding little parts of his hair while he complained.
"He's lucky he's hot."
"Who is?"
"Hux! If he wasn't so attractive I would've punched him by now."
"Why do I not doubt this?"
