smile

The wind was only a slight breeze. I rested my head in my hands while my eyes stayed trained on the sky. The clouds barely drifted, however, I still found them fascinating. Although my (color of your eyes) eyes stayed on the white clouds, I could feel his gaze on mine.

Zion's entire body was stretched out from beside me. His hands rested behind his head. He looked comfortable. I turned to meet his stare. "What?" I laughed nervously. Even though we had been dating for a while now, I still felt anxious around him.

"Nothing," he paused, sitting up to look across the empty field. His arms wrapped around his knees and his eyes stayed trained ahead.

"Seriously," I rolled my eyes, "why were you looking at me?"

"I was just thinking." His deep brown eyes met mine. I couldn't help the flutter of butterflies fill my body. No matter what he did Zion Kuwonu had this stupid effect on me.

"You're always thinking," I joked. A sigh escaped my lips. My eyes drifted back up to the sky then back down to him. "What were you thinking about?"

All he did was laugh. "Well, you."

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "What?"

"You do this thing were your nose scrunches up when you're concentrating."

"Stop," I whined, burying my head into my knees. Heat rose to my cheeks out of embarrassment. I hadn't realized I did that until now. Zion pointing it out just made me feel more nervous.

I could feel his finger nudge my side, poking me until I look up. My red face met his gaze. His signature smile covered his face. "Don't be embarrassed," he spoke smoothly, "I like it a lot." For a moment, his eyes left mine. Then he looked at me again, "It makes you special."

My face burned even more as the statement left his lips. "Stop being cheesy," I laughed. Although I couldn't help the blush forming on my face, I relaxed a little. I started to watch the clouds once more, but his soft whisper drew me back in.

"That is my favorite thing about you."

"What is?"

"Your nose scrunch."

I rolled my eyes at the boy with dreads.

"I'm being serious," he spoke, "I have never met anyone else who does it."

"Really?" I arched an eyebrow.

He nodded. "It's adorable."

"Whatever." Looking away from him and back up to the sky, I could only smile. The conversation seemed to die there for me, but I could still feel the boy's gaze on my body. "What?"

"Nothing," he smiled again.

His smile seemed to never fade. Like it was permanently etched onto his features. "That." I lifted my index finger at his face. His eyebrows knitted together while his smile stayed in its place. "That is my favorite feature of yours."

Zion still seemed to be confused. "Your smile, Z. I like your smile. I don't know why. It just is. You always seem to be smiling and it makes me want to smile. You make me happy, Zion."
