Where to start...

Toriel was baking a pie when she heard a knock on the door. Cautiously, She approached the door, and a voice came through from the other side.

"Knock knock," the voice said, and Toriel grinned. Toriel recognized who the stranger was almost instantly.

"Who's there?" she replied.

"Howl," he answered.

"Howl who?" she asked.

"Howl I get inside if you don't open the door?"

Toriel burst out laughing and opened the door. she was greeted by a short skeleton who wore his signature blue jacket, baggy black workout shorts, and fuzzy white slippers

"Why hello sans, nice of you to stop by," she said, welcoming the skeleton inside her home.

"Sure is Toriel, always good to drop in once in a while," Sans says.

Once he was inside, he made his way to the dining room table and made himself comfortable as he sat in one of the chairs.

"You came at a good time. I had just put the pie in the oven," Toriel stated, smiling.

"That's cool, so how's the kid?" he asked as he lazily slumped against the table.

"Frisk just left to go see Papyrus. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen you with your brother as of late, did you two get into a fight?" she asked, while pulling a chair out and sat across from Sans.

Sans flinched but answered almost immediately.

"no."

However, Toriel noticed his discomfort.

"Sans, something is bothering you." she bluntly stated.

Sans turned his attention toward the table, suddenly finding it very interesting. He didn't respond.

"Did he say something to you?" she asked in a soft heartwarming voice, this eased his discomfort just a bit.

"No..." he said. "It's just...um... personal..." All of a sudden, Sans felt very shy.

Her smile lingered on her lips in a comforting manner "Sans, if there's any way I can help you-"

"Actually..." Sans said abruptly, interrupting her. Then, Sans released an exasperated sigh.

"it would be nice to have a second opinion," he says, shrugging nonchalantly.

this time, their gaze met in a serious matter. "But, promise me you won't tell Papyrus." Sans gently insists.

"You have my word, so what seems to be the problem?" Toriel delicately asks.

Sans started to panic. 'T-this is harder than I thought. No, come on. She promised. She can help you.' after the mental pep talk, he took a deep breath and just went for it.

"I..." he starts, pauses, and then he turns his head away. Blushing, Sans confessed, "I think I'm in love with someone."

And Toriel's whole face turned red as she released a surprised gasp. 'WHAT!? Sans has a crush on somebody?!' she felt somewhat honored with being told such information, but all too curious of whom that special someone was.

"Oh, oh my!" she barely managed to keep her composure because she was so flustered.

'It wouldn't be too much to ask who, right?' So she asked after her cheeks weren't blazing, and her soul calmed down a bit.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking..." she put a hand up near her mouth and asked, "who?"

'Shit! Now that's the part I wanted to avoid...' Sans was sweating, but if he didn't get it out, he won't receive any information that could be useful, maybe even get him out of this mess, no matter how embarrassing.

However, if he said it, he would be admitting to having a crush on that person.

But he already told Toriel so no turning back now.

"It's...um...it's..." he had said it, but unfortunately-

"I'm sorry sans, but I couldn't hear you, could you speak louder please?"

It took a little while, but Sans finally said it.

"It's Papyrus," he whispered, ashame.

All Toriel did was gasp and cover her mouth, blushing very profusely.

It covered her entire face, even sans was blushing in embarrassment, and avoided any eye-contact.

"Um... are you sure, your brother?!" she stuttered out flustered, she wasn't expecting this, and from above all sans.

Sans only nodded in response; Toriel had all these questions buzzing around in her mind.

"So, is that why you haven't been around your brother lately?"

Sans nods automatically.

"You've been avoiding him?" she asked to clarify, in which sans replies again with a nod.

And after a long moment of silence between the two, sans finally speaks up.

"What should I do...?"

Toriel thought hard for something to say next. 'Well first, I want to know how this all started, and if this is love or just a misunderstanding.'

"First, how did this start?" she asked in a steady voice, cheeks still red from all that blushing.

Sans sighs again before saying: "Might want to remain in your seat because this will be a long story."
