My Idea was...

When Sans opened his eye-sockets, the first thing he did was lift his gaze toward the ceiling.

He had teleported to Waterfall because it was, in a way, his sanctuary. It was quiet, with only the sound of the murky water echoing along the walls and the echo flowers that radiated a beautiful soft lunar glow.

Sans felt for the solid wall behind him before taking a seat along the cavern walls, all without breaking eye contact with the ceiling.

Embedded along its dark surface were colorful crystal stones that shined like stars. In reality, however, they were just stones and not the stars themselves.

Sans stared longingly at the stars, he wouldn't say it out loud, but he always wanted to see the real stars, so if they ever got their 'happy ending,' he'd probably just stare at the stars for hours. When he'd finally tore his gaze away from the ceiling, he scanned his surroundings.

Noticing a few echo flowers that were nearby. After a while, when his soul seemed at peace, calm, and relaxed. He tried to look over his situation, being more cool-headed.

'ok, let's go over this again.'

After having the most erotic dream involving his brother, it may be possible that Sans, the skeleton, was in love with his brother, Papyrus.

Sans sighed, rubbing the back of his skull troublesomely

"But I can't confess! he'll think something is seriously wrong with me, or..."

Suddenly, Sans felt a cold chill emerge from his soul, causing his bones to shiver unpleasantly. It felt as if something dark was grinning sadistically at him, as a cruel and horrifying thought blossomed into his mind about the worse outcome possible.

"Worst-case scenario, he'll think I'm disgusting and disown me."

now that thought terrified him

Papyrus is his only family, so if he lost him, he-

Sans gulped, remembering the last timeline in which he lost the ability to feel anything

Sans shook his head as an attempt to banish those thoughts, realizing he was getting off-topic.

'then, what am I suppose to do?'

He found himself split between keeping quiet or taking the risk and telling his brother everything.

Then his mind traced back to the conversation he had with Toriel.

'In some sort of way, confess to your brother without it relating to you, and once he rejects you, then you may be able to let go of him.'

Sans began to hug his knees.

"But How?"

There was no way in hell Sans could just subtly tell his brother without Papyrus finding out it was him.

Could Sans put it in a rhetorical sense?

Yes.

Could Sans say it to Papyrus without making it awkward or suspicious?

Well, with how weird he's been lately, he wouldn't count on it.

Knowing Papyrus, he might take it the wrong way and assume Sans asked because he was secretly interested in dating somebody.

Which he sort of is, and that could lead to a whole mess of misunderstandings that he would very much like to avoid getting involved in.

As he continued to ponder on what he should do, ever so faintly, Sans began to hear that faint cracking sound, to which he taps his skull repeatedly with his index finger until it's quiet again. Then, he cradles his chin with his palms.

"I hope this is just a phase."

Eventually, he figured now was the time to return home, he channeled his magic, and then instantly was no longer there.

...

Before he knew it, he was in front of their cabin house again. Sans contemplated about going inside, while at the same time curious if his brother was awake yet. However, when his arm had reached out toward the doorknob, he hesitated.

'what's wrong? Why am I worried? What am I scared of?'

The darkness closed in again, framing his vision with a dark haze that threatened to devour his sight. It was as if this darkness was acting in correlation with his fear, always attempting to consume him in a void of heavy condensed black.

But Sans shook his head and averted his gaze elsewhere. Which so happened to linger on Papyrus's Mailbox.

'Papyrus's Mailbox, like always, it rarely has any mail for Papyrus'

Sans glanced at his own before returning to his brother's mailbox again.

'It's a darn shame that he doesn't get any fan mail.'

Suddenly his thoughts froze, as an idea emerged like a flickering spark, and the more he thought about it, the more he could see it working out

"W-Wait! That's it! I could just send Papyrus an anonymous love letter."

He suddenly felt excited, and the lights in his eyes began to twinkle like stars as his grin got wider.

'I could write how I feel on paper, and he wouldn't even know it's me!'

At that moment, it was the perfect plan, and he sought to put it in action right away. he'd be lying to himself if he wasn't ecstatic

His gaze shifted toward the front door.

'he's probably awake by now...'

With that in mind, he then, with the wave of his hand, teleported to his room. He stumbled at first but soon found his ground again and proceeded, His eyes searching for his messy desk from within the darkness of his bedroom. Sans felt for his desk lamp, and although it didn't work, it was a simple touch with his finger and a spark of magic that made it come to life. A small amount of light flooded the room, making it more like an underground cave.

Which, in his case, it was.

He began to shove the mess off his desk for a better workspace. while doing this, he began to think on his plan more in detail.

'I guess I should be careful and alter my handwriting so that he doesn't suspect it's me-'

However, his thoughts were put on hold when he heard his brother calling him from downstairs.

"SANS! I AM OFF TO VISIT THE HUMAN, AND THEN PAY A VISIT TO UNDYNE!"

Sans just response with an unfazed expression

"ok."

"I EXPECT YOU TO BE THERE!"

'of course' thought Sans but none the less replied.

"ok."

Ok, he'd have to visit the fish monster, but he wouldn't have to do that until later. Sans poked his head out from his bedroom and waved to his brother down below.

"Later, bro!"

However, Papyrus seemed off-put about it.

"Yes... later...." his tone sounding unnatural like he is unsure.

Papyrus made his way to the front door, but upon opening the door, he paused as if contemplating something.

But then he turned back and struck a heroic pose, his red crimson cape flapping in the wind that came bursting in from outside, causing light and snow to flood in.

It made his exit look so dramatic and cool.

"I MEAN, LATER, BROTHER!" Papyrus repeated, sounding cooler, and confident.

Sans couldn't help it nor look away because his brother is so breathtakingly cool.

He was so in awe that could barely utter a reply.

"Y-yea..."

With that, Papyrus took off, shutting the door behind him. About five minutes after his brother left, Sans retreated into his bedroom.

Once at his desk, he then pulled out a sheet of blank paper from the drawer and spread it neatly on its surface. Pen in hand, he sat at his desk and tried to think upon what to write.

But he was stuck; he had no idea how or what to write in a love letter.

"Um... where do I start?"

Sans thought hard while trying to come up with ideas, but he just couldn't find the right words to string together a single sentence. Eventually, he ended getting so lost in thought that he fell asleep.

And when he woke up, he realized he didn't write a single thing.

Sans sighed, pathetically, as he slumped his body onto the desk, laying his skull upon its surface.

It was pretty clear that Sans had no idea what or where to start in writing a love letter, seeing as he had no experience when it came to suttle romance.

He glanced frustrated at his skeleton hand that clutched his pen, as he mutters out: "I need help."

Strangely enough, he already had someone in mind of who could potentially help him.

"I better go pay the fish face and lizard a visit, they probably know more about this than anyone else."

With that in mind, he pointed his index finger toward the ceiling, his left eye flashing cyan and gold as he teleported to Undyne's house.

...

Sans appeared in front of Undyne's home in Waterfall, however the sudden shift messed with his balance. He didn't fall, which was nice. Sans regained his footing as quickly as he arrived.

Teleporting was easy but sort of exhausting, because of the barrier, Sans can only teleport to specific areas around the Underground.

The skeleton shifted his focus to Undyne's front door. Within a few steps, he found himself knocking on it.

When the fish monster opened the door, she was a bit surprised to see him.

"Sans?"

"Sup, can I come in?"

When Undyne let him in, he saw he wasn't the only one there. Alphys, the royal scientist, was there as well, which didn't surprise him considering how close they are.

Honestly, he was hoping for her to be here.

Taking a seat across from them, Sans decided not to beat around the bush and get straight to the point.

So, very casually, he asked: "So... have any of you got any experience with writing a love letter?"

And immediately, it caused both to become extremely embarrassed, both faces blushing beat red.

"W-Wait a minute! Where is this coming from?!" Undyne asks flustered, beside her, Alphys muttered to herself, trying to contain her embarrassment.

"omg... so embarrassing..." Alphys mumbled, holding her rosy cheeks.

Their reactions dumbfounded Sans.

'You two are dating, aren't you?'

But, getting back on track.

"Well, anyway, I need help."

Undyne was deemed too embarrassed to give any advice. However, Alphys gave her full attention as Sans began to explain.

"Someone wants to write a love letter, and they don't know where to start."

Sans thought it wise, if not, genius to put it in the third person.

"O-oh, why it's q-quite simple Sans," Alphys started as she began to try and explain it to him.

"W-well, first, you have to address the person your... um... writing to, and then you uh... write all the things you want to convey to them."

"And say what?"

That question made Alphys even more flustered, having to come up with examples.

"I-i suppose it depends on what you want to tell them, I-it's an l-love letter, right? So I guess, write how much you erm.. care about them, and overall what you uh, like about them?"

Sans considered Alphys's words, and strangely, it didn't take long before he knew, exactly, what he wants to tell Papyrus.

He wanted to say all the things he couldn't, like his brother, to express to him truly how important Papyrus is to him.

'Ok...I think I get it now.'

Suddenly, Undyne started to get suspicious

"Why do you want to know, Sans, are you planning on writing one?" Undyne teased.

Sans ever so smoothly replied: "oh, just someone wanted some advice."

But Undyne kept pushing undeterred. "who?"

"No one important."

Within a beat, Sans began to rise from his seat.

"Who Sans!?" aggressively yelled as She, too, launched herself out of her chair. Ignoring her, Sans made his way toward the door in a casual calm manner.

"Well, tell Pap I stopped by."

Leaving it at that, he made his exit, shutting the door behind him. Undyne is a fast motion chased after him, but he was nowhere in sight by the time she opened the door.

The fish monster growled, annoyed.

"I hate it when he does that!" She yelled, grinding her teeth.

...

Sans teleported to his bedroom, but upon arrival, he tumbles, falling forward onto the carpet floor.

"Ow," Sans groaned.

Shaking it off, he gets back on his feet again and drags himself to his desk, but this time with more certainty, and with deep purpose.

It was, exactly, the way he left it, a black bullpen, and that blank sheet of paper.

As Sans picked up the pen, his thoughts focused on one thing:

Papyrus.

With that in mind, he began to write.
