Sibling rivalry

“You're having a movie night with my sister?” Luke says snidely before bursting out laughing.
    “Yeah so…got a problem?” I retort.
“Just when did you two become friends?” he asks.  It was true, me and Sam had never spent much time alone together.
“I don’t know. It’s just when you go out with the guys it’d be nice to go out with a friend that’s a girl once in a while” I lie.
“I can always put a wig on and call myself Lucy” he grins. “It’d be the same as hanging around with Sam.” I shake my head laughing at the imagery of Luke in a wig.
“You know it wouldn’t be the same” I punch him on his arm.
“I know. Well I hope you two have fun.” I watch as he looks passed me to Sam who had just walked in. “Just not too much fun” he glares in Sams direction.
“Well sometimes I just can’t help myself” she glares back and Luke snorts.
Wow I had never noticed the sibling rivalry between these two before, were they really fighting over me?
“Oh stop with the death stares!” I shout as both pairs of eyes flick to me. “You Luke go and have fun at soccer and Sam you get the movie set up.”
“Of course Ivy it would be my pleasure” she grins saying the word pleasure suggestively. I shake my head.
“I’m watching you Samantha Reynolds” Luke says before giving me a tight hug and leaving.
“What the hell was that!” I raise my voice looking to Sam for answers.
“He thinks I’m going to destroy your virtue” she laughs to herself.
    “What!”
“He thinks I’m going to seduce you” she repeats.
“I got what you meant the first time. No what was all the glaring about?”
“You’re his bestfriend, do you think he really wants to share you? That’s my overprotective brother for you but he’s not protecting me.”
“But he knows me and him...well we’re never going to happen” I say throwing my arms up in frustration.
“Are you sure you want to be left alone with the wicked bitch of the west?” she smirks.
“I’m not scared of you Samantha Reynolds” I repeat in Luke’s tone of voice. She picks up a pillow and throws it at me.
“Are you sure Ivy Matthews?” she says lifting up one eyebrow.

“So that’s why Luke wants you to wear an A” I say as the end credits of easy A roll up the screen.  “There’s a problem though you’re not a virg…” I begin to say before she cuts me off.
“Oh my god shut up” she giggles hitting me with one of her pillows. “Anyway I’m ordering pizza, what would you like? Something with extra virgin olive oil?” she retorts back.
“Wow that’s not fair!” I shout back.
“Ok so a triple cheese pizza then?”
    “Sounds good” I smile.

The buzzer goes so we both jump up in unison to pick up the pizza. We open the door to a cute pizza boy. “I’m paying” I say.
“No way it’s my treat” Sam replies shoving 20 dollars into the guys hand.
“Thanks ladies” the guy smiles before leaving.
“He would totally be cute for you” Sam states as we go back into her bedroom.
“Whatever” I mumble biting into a slice of pizza.
“I will make it my mission to find you the ‘one’” she announces air quoting the word ‘one’.
“A Mr Darcy to my Elizabeth Bennet” I sigh.
“You’re familiar to the works of Jane Austen?” she asks almost surprised.
“Of course. By the way you sound so much like your brother. He’s always telling me he’s going to find me a guy.”
“But he has no taste unlike me” she laughs.
“Ouch offended he did go out with me after all” I reply trying to sound upset.
“Well with one exception. So how about a horror film?” she asks.
“Make sure its a scary one."

I watch the screen as a young girl wonders down a deserted alley. I knew what was going to happen but I still knew it was going to make me jump and as if on cue the masked man jumps out and grabs her.
“Crap!” I jump. I’m also suddenly aware of how close I was to Sam but she didn’t seem bothered by our close proximity. She looks around at me laughing.
    “Scared?” she asks.
“No of course not” I huff.
“Then why are you practically sitting on me?”
I attempt to move away but she grabs my wrists. “I’ll protect you” she winks and then suddenly I’m back at the beach again. Those same urges I thought were to do with me being drunk were coming back except this time I wasn’t drunk. It was dark but the TV flickered allowing me to look into those same blue eyes. I found myself leaning forward, Sam didn’t attempt to move and then suddenly the light turns on. We both jump away in unison.
“Wow you’re really easy to scare” Luke says walking in. “Oh nice film, mind if I join?” He doesn’t allow either of us to reply before he jumps onto the bed settling into the gap that had formed between me and Sam. I sit back onto the bed unsure of what had almost happened again.
