"So when will you and Sam be back?" My mom asks.
    Mom and dad had soon learnt to love having Sam around and genuinely missed her presence when she wasn't there. Luke's absence went largely unnoticed. I had occasionally bumped into him but until he could apologise I didn't ever think our friendship could ever resume.
     "On Monday mom" I reply. Me and Sam were spending the weekend at a friend's cabin.
      "Have a good time and tell Sam hello from us."
      "I will do mom" I call back as I make my way out to the car where Sam was waiting.

     After unpacking me and Sam sit outside taking in the rapidly descending sun. The area was beautiful.
     "Ivy?"
      "Yeah?" I say turning to Sam.
      "I'm guessing Sophie told you the story about the bracelet I got her for her birthday?" I recall the bracelet and story of the heart charm. "Well I have one. My mom got it for me when I was about 15. She told me the same story that I told Sophie. 'Give your heart to someone special for safekeeping.' At the time there was only one person I had wanted to give it to but I thought I was kidding myself so I threw it to the back of my drawer. But I had to look for it again because there's only that same person who I'd like to look after my heart."  She opens out my hand and places a small golden heart into it. "That is of course if you'd like it?"
    "I'd love it and of course I'll keep it safe." I pause wondering of how to say what I wanted to say. "Do you remember when I said I was waiting for the 'one'" I air quote the word 'one' like we did jokingly all those months ago. "What if I said you were the one." Her eyes widen before smiling. "So...." I say biting my lip nervously. I stand up and grab her hand walking back into the cabin. I take one look at the shimmering sunset before locking the impending darkness behind the door.
