Chapter Twenty- Seven

Emily's Pov:

We arrived back at our apartment, and we brought the groceries in.

We packed the stuff away to its spot.

"Do you want to help me bake?" Jennifer asked.

"Sure, just let me change real quick." I said, walking towards the room.

I changed into grey sweat pants and a light pink tank top.

Jennifer was laying all the ingredients out when I came out of the room.

"So what do we do first?" I asked.

"You've never baked cookies?" Jennifer asked in disbelief.

"I've baked cookies before, but it was store bought cookie dough." I replied honestly.

"Ok, well, we need two sticks of butter creamed white and brown sugars. Two eggs, vanilla extract, baking soda, water, but I like to use milk, a pinch of salt, all-purpose flour, and cholate chips. We need to prep the stove to 20 minutes and bake for 30 minutes." She said out of the top of her head.

"How do you remember all that?" I asked.

"I make cookies when I'm stressed or sad." She said.

"Seems like you're stressed and sad all the time," I said sympatheticly.

"Not all the time, I've been doing it since a young age. I guess I've gotten the recipe stuck in my head." She said.

Jennifer started putting the flour in the bowl, and she decided that it would be funny to grab a fist full of flour and throw it on top of my hair.

"JENNIFER!" I yelled.

She started laughing, so that's when I got my revenge. I acted like I was going towards the sink to take the flour off my hair and dump it in the sink, but in reality, I was just going closer to her to dump flour on her head.

Since she had the flour bag in her hand, all closed up up, I improvised and grabbed the flour from the bowl. My hands were clean, so it wasn't going to make the flour dirty.

I grabbed two hands full of flour and dumped one of them on her hair and the other on her face.

She was covered in flour. Her hair, face, shirt, and shoes.

"EMILY!!!" She yelled.

"Pay back, haha." I said, pointing my finger at her.

"I'm guessing you forgot I had the flour bag in my hands." She said, still blind from the flour.

"Jennifer, don't you dare." I said, backing away.

She walked towards me with a handful of flour.

"Jennifer!" I said she still threw the flour at me, causing me to get flour all over my shirt.

She started laughing her ass off.

"Give me the flour bag!" I said, running towards her.

"No!" She said, running around the kitchen counter.

We ended up running around the kitchen counter for about 5 minutes until I gave up and grabbed the bowl that had flower and threw it all over her. Some of the flour landed on me, too, but it was worth it.

"Emily! That was the flour for the cookies!" Jennifer yelled.

"So worth it." I said.

"How are we going to make cookies now?" She asked, forgetting that she had a bag of flour in her hands.

"With the flour in your hands." I said, pointing at the bag of flour.

"Oh, I forgot I had this in my hand." She said.

"Ok, now let's actually make the cookies." Jennifer said, wiping the flour off her face.

"Give me the rag, please." I said, holding my hand out.

She gave it to me, so I wiped the flour out of my eyes and face.

We made the dough, we put it in the fridge, and waited a couple of minutes for it to cool or whatever it does.

We put the prep time in the stove and waited for everything to be done.

Meanwhile, everything was being done. We sat and talked.

"Why do you call me Jennifer and not JJ like the rest of the team?" Jennifer asked.

"I don't know, I just like the name Jennifer better than JJ. Plus, I get to be the only one to call you Jennifer on the team." I answered honestly.

"Do you not want me to call you Jennifer?" I asked.

"No, no, it's fine. I was just wondering why you called me Jennifer, that's it."

"Why do you call me Emilia sometimes?" I asked. Now that we're on the topic of why we call each other names, no one else calls us besides family.

"Ever since I heard Tom call you Emilia, I've liked the way it sounds. It suits you." She responded honestly.

I nodded in understanding, and it went silent.

I decided to speak up so it isn't so akward, "What do you want to do this week?"

"What can we do?" She responded.

"Shopping, drink, eat at restaurants, go to the park." I said listing stuff we can probably do.

"How about we make a plan for each day?" She said.

"Yeah, sure, we can do that." I responded.

We planned what we were going to do through the week.

After that, Jennifer asked me a question I was quite expecting.

"Do you have a crush on anyone?" She asked, nudging my shoulder.

I was hesitant to answer.

"Yes..." I said.

"Do I know them?" She asked.

"Yes." I said, knowing it's her I like.

"Is it elle..?" She said, a bit disappointing.

Why was she disappointed? Does she like me? No.. she can't. She's straight... I mean, look wise, she looks straight.

"What!? No!...we're just friends." I said.

"Then who is it!?" She said.

"Is it Jessica?"

"No. I haven't talked to her since that day at my house." I said.

"Oh, then who is it?" She said, putting her hand on my shoulder, making me move side to side.

"A girl." I said.

"Wow, that's such a good answer." She said sarcastically.

"I know, right?" I said back.

"I'm going to find out who it is." I said.

"Never." I said.

The oven beeped.

"Time to make the cookies into hearts." Jennifer said.

"Hearts?"

"Yeah, those are the only cookie cutters I was able to find at the store." She replied.

We started rolling the dough to cut it out into hearts.

We finished and put them in the oven.

"Time to wait 30 minutes." Jennifer said.

"I'm going to go shower." I said.

"Not if I beat you first." Jennifer said, running towards the bedroom.

I ran behind her. By the time I got to her, she was opening the restroom door.

I tried grabbing her by her shoulders, but she got out of my grasp.

"Haha, loser!" I heard Jennifer yell.

"I'm going to get you next time!" I yelled back.

"No, you won't!"

I went to my bag to grab a book I had brought and went onto the balcony.

I didn't feel like changing because I didn't want to change in to clean clothes while being dirty.

It was dark outside, so I was able to see the beautiful city lights, stars, and moon. It was all so pretty.

The air was amazing not to cold, but not too hot. It was the perfect temperature.

I admired the city view and looked at all the stars.

I started to read after 15 minutes.

I don't know how long I read until I heard the oven beeped.

I thought Jennifer was already out of the shower, so I was waiting for her to get the oven, but it kept beeping. I went inside to see if Jennifer was out of the shower, but she wasn't. I was still able to hear the shower running.

It's been 30 minutes. How long does it take to shower?

I took the cookies out of the oven and placed them on the counter, they where perfectly risen, and the chocolate chips were melted. They looked yummy.

I went back to the balcony so I could let the cookies cool down for a bit.

30 more minutes passed, and Jennifer was finally out of the shower.

I was going to go back inside to grab my clothes and enter the shower, but I saw she was only in a towel, so I turned back around and sat down.

I was able to see Jennifer's back she had a tattoo of two doves.

My guess is that one of them is for her grandma's. But what about the other one?

"Are you done changing!" I yelled from the balcony. She was able to hear me since I left the balcony door open a bit.

"Yes. You can come in!" I heard her yell.

"Half an hour to shower!?"

"What?" Jennifer said.

"It took you half an hour to shower." I said.

"Sorry, it's just you put so much flour in my hair." I can tell she was lying, but I let it go.

"The cookies are on the kitchen counter." I said, pointing out the door.

JJ's Pov:

Emily was standing next to me a couple of inches away, so we weren't so close.

I was putting some flour in a bowl when I got the best idea I've ever had.

I grabbed a handful of flour and threw it on top of Emily's head.

"JENNIFER!!!" She yelled

Her eyes were full of flour, and so was her hair.

Her black raven hair was now white. She may be covered in flour, but she was still the most gorgeous woman ever.

Everything was going well. Emily hasn't gotten payback by putting flour on my head.

I was holding the flour onto dear life so she didn't snatch it and put it on me.

I saw that she was moving towards the sink.

I thought she was going to shake the flour out of her hair on top of the sink, but instead, she walked next to me, put her hand in the bowl filled with flour, and threw flour ontop of my head and on my face.

Some landed on her, but she didn't look as bad as I did.

"EMILY!!!" I yelled.

I got my payback by throwing more flour on her. She most have forgotten I had the bag of flour in my hand.

I started laughing to the point I couldn't breathe.

"Give me the flour bag!" She yelled.

"No!" I yelled, running around the kitchen counter.

We ran around the kitchen counter for a couple of minutes until she grabbed the bowl of flour and poured it on me.

We settled down and started talking.

I got to know why she calls me Jennifer and not JJ.

She likes Jennifer better than JJ.

To be honest, I love that she's the omly who calls me Jennifer. I like the way it comes out of her mouth, the way she pronounces it.

She asked me why I called her Emilia, so I answered her question.

It was silent.

I started wondering if she likes anyone, I've seen how close she is with Elle.

I know Elle likes Spencer, but it still wouldn't stop Emily from having a crush on her.

"Do you have a crush on anyone?" I suddenly blurted out.

Why would you ask that?

"Yes..." She said hesitantly.

"Do I know them?" I asked, trying to find out if it's Elle who she likes.

I just want to know if she has a crush on my friend, that's all.

"Yes." She said.

So it is Elle, I know I'm not supposed to be jealous but part of me was.

Emilia had a crush on my friend. Not me.

"Is it elle..?" I asked sadly.

"What!? No!...we're just friends." She replied.

It felt like a brick was lifted off my chest.

"Then who is it!?" I asked still trying to find out who it was.

"Is it Jessica?" I asked, remembering about Jessica.

"No. I haven't talked to her since that day at my house." She replied.

Another sigh of relief.

"Oh, then who is it?" I asked still trying to get it out of her.

"A girl." Wow.

"Wow, that's such a good answer." I said sarcastically.

She chuckled. "I know, right?" She said, now laughing.

"I'm going to find out who it is." I said squinting my eyes.

"Never." She responded.

I am determined to find out who it is.

The oven peeped, so I got the dough out from the fridge.

Emily and I started rolling the dough out so we can cut it into hearts.

I started stealing glances at Emily. She started eating the excess dough that was outside of the hearts. She thought I didn't notice, but I did.

We put the cookies in the oven, and that's when Emily said she was going to shower.

Since she dumped a whole bowl of flour on top of my head. I decided that I need to take a shower first and not her.

So I ran towards the bedroom to go into the restroom.

I felt Emily grab my shoulders to bring me back, but I got out of her grip.

"Haha! Loser!" I yelled.

"I'm going to get you next time!" She yelled, I can already see the face she is making.

"No, you won't!" I yelled back.

That's when I realized I didn't bring any of my clothes into the restroom.

"Shit." I murmured.

Oh well.

I started to shower.

I decided to shave, just incase....

I know I've already been in the shower for 30 minutes because I heard the oven beeping.

It took Emily so long to take the cookies out of the oven, which made me wonder what she was doing.

I went back to shaving.

I was finished with what I was doing so I got out the shower. Luckily there was towels here so I wrapped a towel around my body. I didn't wrap a towel around my hair so it was dripping wet.

I left the restroom, and walked towards my go-bag.

I heard Emily enter the room from the balcony, I didn't do anything about it.

I changed into these black shorts and a grey crewneck.

"Are you done changing!" I heard Emily yell.

"Yes. You can come in!" I yelled back.

"Half an hour to shower!?" Emily said, I was confused on what she meant.

"What?" I asked.

"It took you half an hour to shower." Damn. That long!?

"Sorry, it's just you put so much flour in my hair." I lied.

I mean it wasn't technically a whole lie, it did take me a while to take all the flour out of my hair.

"The cookies are on the kitchen counter." Emily said.

She went into the restroom so I walked over to the kitchen to eat a cookie.

They tasted good.

I heard my phone ringing so I went to answer it.

"Jareau." I said.

"Hey, blondie. How is it with 'Emilia'?" Elle said mocking me for calling Emily, Emilia at times.

"Good, it's been good." I said.

"What did you guys do? Or what are you guys doing?" Elle asked, I can already tell she's trying to see if we've done anything dirty.

We have, just not in the way she thinks.

"We baked some cookies, there's flour all over the kitchen floor and counters." I responded.

"Why is there flour all over the kitchen?" Elle asked.

"We had a flour fight."

"Ohhh, that's cute. I can imagine you guys throwing flower at eachother. You guys would make an amazing couple not gonna lie." Elle said.

I started to smile at the thought of dating, Emily.

"I need to go, I need to clean the mess up." I said.

"Okay. Be safe." Elle said hanging up the phone.

And just like that I started cleaning up the mess.
