Chapter Twenty- Three

Emily's Pov:

"When did you cut your hair!?" Elle asked, touching my bangs.

"Today." I said, moving Elle's hands away from my hair.

"You look hotter." Elle said.

I'm used to Elle's constant flirting, so I took her comment as a compliment.

"What Elle said!" I heard Derek yell from the living room.

All the girls, including Rossi, were in the kitchen.

Rossi was cooking, and we girls were just waiting for him to be done so we could eat.

"When's the food going to be done?" Penelope asked.

"It takes precision to make this pasta taste wonderful." Rossi said, I saw that coming.

He loves his pasta.

"I want food!!!" Elle said while putting a fist up in the air.

"Foods ready!" Rossi yelled after Elle's complaint.

"Finnally." All the girls said in sync.

JJ's Pov:

We moved from the counter to the dining room.

Morgan said at the far end of the table with Spencer to his left, Elle said next to Spencer. Rossi sat at the end of the table, so he faced facing Hotch. Emily sat next to Rossi in front of Elle, I sat next to Emily's left, and Penelope was next to me on the other side.

"I would like to make a toast to, Emilia." Rossi said while standing up with a wine glass in hand and tapping a fork on it so it can catch everyone's attention.

"I would like to thank this wonderful young woman for letting me be the father I've always wanted to be. Emilia, I've known you since you were just a little kid, I've seen you grow up into a rebellious teen, I've seen you go off to college, and I've seen you grow up into an amazing person. I'm glad you gave me the opportunity to be a father towards you. Happy birthday, Kid." Rossi said.

"Thank you for being a father for me." Emily said with teary eyes.

"I would like to make a toast also." Elle said.

"You are like a sister to me. Me and you have always had this special bond that I would forever cherish and love. You are the moat, wonderful woman ever, and I'm glad I've got to create a friendship with you. Since the day you walked into the BAU, you've been nothing but the greatest person to not only me but to everyone else on the team. I would also like to thank you for all the times you've dealt with my drama and drunk hours, so thank you for being everyone's rock and everyone's happiness. Happy birthday, Emily." Elle said, holding her wine glass up in the air. Everyone did the same and drank from their wine glass.

"Are you crying, baby girl?" Derek said with furrowed eyebrows.

"This is all so emotional. 'Thank you for being everyone's rock and happiness.' Such beautiful words. I don't know how Emily isn't crying." Penelope said with tears streaming down her face.

Penelope stopped crying, and everyone ate dinner.

It was time to cut the cake and open presents.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear Emily. Happy birthday to you." Everyone sang.

Emily blew her candles out, and everyone clapped.

"What did you wish for, kid?" Rossi asked.

"I wished for something." Emily said, not revealing what she wished for.

"Time for presents!" Penelope squealed.

"But I want cake." Spence said in a sad tone.

Everyone went to the living room to open presents, but Spence and Elle stayed behind to get Spence some cake.

"Mine first." Rossi said.

It was a bottle of Emily's favorite wine and $100.

Hotch went next, and then Spence and Elle came into the living room.

Spence had cake in hand, and Elle was just standing next to him.

"Gave him any other type of cake, Greenaway?" Morgan asked, smirking.

"Gross." Emily and I said.

"You're disgusting," Elle said, Spencer was confused about what he meant by  "any another cake."

Elle then explained to him what Derek meant by "other cake," and Spence showed a disgusted look.

"Back to presents please!" Penelope said.

Penelope gave Emily her gift. It was a lot of wine, some colorful gel pens, a photo of all the girls at one of our girl nights. It was us in our matching pajamas.

"Aw, thank you, I finally have a photo for my desk." Emily said, giving Pen a hug.

Derek, Elle, and Spence all gave their gifts. It was my turn, I wasn't sure if Emily wanted the team to know she had a childhood bear, so I decided to give it to her somewhere else.

"Follow me." I told Emily while grabbing the gift I left on the table.

We walked over to one of the bedrooms on the first floor, and the whole team saw.

"Don't do anything I would do!" Elle yelled.

"Keep it, PG!" Penelope yelled.

"Do I need to cover my ears!?" Morgan yelled.

"You guys are so dirty minded!" I yelled back.

"Why did you bring me to this room?" Emily asked, confused.

"I wasn't sure if you wanted the team to see the gift I got you." I said.

Emily was confused, so I continued talking.

"A couple of days ago, you talked to me about your dad and how he gave you a stuffed animal when he left you and your mother. You also told me how it was the only memory you had left of him and that you don't know if your mom ripped it or threw it away, so I took it into my own hands to find out if she did or not."

"You went to my mother's house?" Emily asked.

"Open the gift." I responded.

Emily opened the gift, and Emily's mouth dropped a bit.

She wasn't saying anything she just stared at the bear.

"Oh my God, cow." Emily said, grabbing Cow.

Her eyes had tears in them, and they started to fall down her cheeks.

"Thank you." Emily said while whiping the tears and coming towards me to hug.

"You're welcome." I said, hugging her.

She smelled good, and her hair smelled like lavender. I could smell her perfume to it smelt elegant, rich.

We leaned back from the hug. My hands were still around her stomach, and her hands around mine.

We stared into eachothers eyes, and Emily's were still watery. Tears are still running down her cheeks.

I moved my hands and placed them on her cheeks to wipe the tears away.

"There's another suprise I have for you." I whispered, still having my hands on her cheeks.

I could kiss her right now, right here.

She looks so kissable.

I have the opportunity to kiss her.

"Another suprise? You've already surprised me plenty of times today. I don't need another suprise. I'm perfectly happy with what you've done." Emily said.

"Believe me, this suprise wasn't planned. It came to me." I said.

Our faces were still inches apart.

I grabbed Emily's hand and walked her towards the door.

"Wait, let put this back in the box." Emily said while showing me cow.

She put it in the box and grabbed my hand again.

"Thank you again. For everything, I appreciate it." Emily said, giving me a smile.

"You're welcome." I said, returning the smile.

Every time I'm in a room alone with Emily, I feel safe. Something I haven't felt in years.

Emily really does make a room, feel safe, and happy.
