Chapter 4 : The Attack

Rei woke up early the next morning, feeling restless. She had spent most of the night thinking about her powers and how she could use them to help people. She knew that they were dangerous, but she couldn't help but feel like they could be used for good.

As she got dressed, she heard the sound of sirens in the distance. It was a familiar sound in the city, but this time it felt different. It was louder, more urgent.

Rei grabbed her bag and headed out the door, running towards the sound. As she got closer, she could see smoke rising from the direction of her school. Her heart raced as she realized what was happening. There was an attack.

She reached the school to find chaos. People were running in all directions, screaming and crying. Rei tried to make her way towards the school building, but the police had already cordoned off the area. She was forced to watch from a distance, feeling helpless.

As she stood there, she noticed something strange. There was a faint aura of light emanating from one of the classrooms. It was a soft blue color, almost like a gentle flame.

Rei knew that she had to investigate. She could feel a pull towards the light, a sense of urgency. Without thinking, she ran towards the building, using her powers to jump over the barricade.

She reached the classroom and opened the door. Inside, she found a group of students huddled in a corner, their faces pale with fear. There was a strange device in the center of the room, emitting the blue light.

Rei recognized the device as a bomb. She had seen enough movies to know what it was, and she knew that she had to act fast.

She closed her eyes and focused her energy, using her powers to create a shield around herself and the students. The bomb exploded, but the shield protected them from the blast.

When Rei opened her eyes, she saw that the bomb had been neutralized. There was no sign of the blue light, and the room was filled with smoke and debris.

The students looked at Rei in awe, unsure of what had just happened. Rei herself was surprised. She had never used her powers like this before, and she was amazed that she had been able to create a shield strong enough to withstand a bomb.

But there was no time to dwell on her newfound abilities. The police were on their way, and Rei knew that she had to leave before she was caught.

She helped the students out of the room and back to safety, making sure that they were all accounted for. As she slipped away into the crowd, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief.

She had used her powers to save lives. It was a small victory, but it gave her hope. Maybe her abilities weren't a curse after all. Maybe they were a gift, something that could be used to make a difference in the world.

As she walked away from the school, Rei couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose. She knew that she had to keep her powers hidden, but she also knew that she couldn't ignore them. They were a part of her, a part of her destiny.

And she was ready to embrace it.
