Chapter 6

'HmM... HoW DId wE gEt sTUCk iN ThIs sITuaTiOn AlReaDY...?'

Error looked around with a look mixed between confusion, slight worry and affection. Where was he? He somehow managed to stumble upon a pack of strange wolf-looking magic creatures. And now he was sitting with them and gently caressing one's head, hearing it purrs –at least it sounded like purring– softly in happiness while laying on the glitched teenager's laps. It was cute, he couldn't deny it, but he was now stuck until those animals decided to get up and leave –and they didn't seem to be interested in leaving anytime soon–. 'Well you wanted to explore and now here we are, surrounded by adorable animals that I would totally pet if I had a body... Please pet them for me, this is torture."

Error sighed and shook his head lightly, trying his best to not have a breakdown after seeing his family so broken without him. Following the Voice's previous advice, he started to walk around aimlessly. He wasn't looking for something in particular; actually he didn't even know what he could and would find here. He just decided to walk around. He would find what he would find. Now that he thinks about it, that idea screamed 'danger'. He didn't even know what was a threat and what was not! He was almost certain it wouldn't end well, but did he care? Nah, not really. He was immortal, he couldn't die even if he wanted to, it wasn't some plants and perhaps some animals that would manage to get rid of him!

Well actually, it would be funny if he managed to survive the Void only to die to a flower. If Ink ever learned about that, it was certain he would be pissed. Error couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the thought, and he swore that the Voice was laughing with him. Not that much of a surprise actually, since it was a part of him directly connected to his SOUL, they probably shared the same humor, likes and dislikes. If not, they were still probably very close to be the same. But he could tell they didn't share the same personality; the Voice did have his natural sassiness –or at least it seemed they had– but they seemed way more energetic and optimist than him, which kinda reminded him of a child. Perhaps the Voice was a child, they were created to guide him from now on after all, they didn't exist before. Basically, they weren't even a day old, even if they had his memories and knowledge. Knowing that somehow made him more attached to them, like an older sibling. He was always quick to bound with and appreciate people who reminded him of younger siblings. Or just people younger than him –which wasn't that hard to find considering he is eons old–. He never knew why. Perhaps, it was because at some point in his life –before he became Error–, he had a younger sibling? That didn't seem too improbable; he was still a Sans after all! And most Sanses had their Papyrus, even if some lost him for some reasons that were never good.

Just like he lost the gang...

He shook his head lightly and continued to walk, observing his surrounding with a small smile. It was truly beautiful. There were all type of plants he could think of, some he never even heard about before, reunited in a single jungle-like scenery. He could also see all kind of animals, some who naturally wouldn't be in the same environment as others but seemed to be strangely peaceful with each other. Of course, some were hunted by carnivores, but even though, they all seemed quite happy with each others despite their differences. Error couldn't help but think that Humans should follow their example.

He kneeled down in front of a bush with red leaves and blueish green flowers. He gently touched the petals of a flower, smiling at how soft it was. He continued to stroke the petals for a few seconds before getting up and continuing his exploration. He was surprise by how silent the Voice was, but he could feel that they were enjoying the nature as much as he was. It was really nice, Error never had the chance to just walk in an AU and enjoy the vegetation. Firstly because most AUs were Underground, and therefore there wasn't much to see beside the Echo Flowers, and because he was always chased out of the AUs when he was detected, even if he wasn't destroying. Plus, he mostly didn't have the time to enjoy such things since he had to take care of the Balance. So just the fact of being able to walk in this jungle –he assumed it was a jungle– made him particularly happy.

Error then stumbled on a deer and, surprisingly, instead of running away like he expected, the animal went toward him and let him pet it. Error could feel the Voice vibrating with excitement inside of him, like a child. It made him smile. He observed the deer walk away calmly, as if it was completely trusting Error, which was surprising, but pleasant. "It's because of your dragon side, the animals and the dragons feel that you're partially one of them, so they trust you."

Error gasped after hearing that, a big smile making its way to his face. He loved that news! For once, he wouldn't scare everything! Usually, animals seemed to feel his destructive aura and always ran away –not the cats, strangely enough, he was quite popular with them, and sometimes dogs also stayed close– from him. He almost wanted to jump in joy.

The past Destroyer continued to walk aimlessly with a pep in his step, whistling softly in happiness. He paused quite often to look at different creatures –magical or not, he didn't care as long as he could pet most of them– and plants. He had a big smile on his face and seemed truly happy, like he hadn't been in a very long time.

He then landed in a prairie that was close to a lake and decide to sit on a rock near said lake. He grabbed a few stones and started to throw them toward the lake, trying to make ricochets. He remembered a time when Horror, Killer and Dust had a small competition when they spent time in an Oceantale copy. They had infiltrated a boat and killed everyone on it before playing different games. He remembered how Cross somehow found an eyepatch and gave it to Nightmare, calling him 'Captain Goopybear Nootmare'. It was fun.

His SOUL cried out in pain at the thought of all the good times he had with his family and he instinctively grabbed the crystal of his necklace. A few tears appeared in his eyes, that he didn't even bother to wipe away. He couldn't... He just couldn't act like he didn't lose his loved ones because of that stupid Squid. He... He missed them so much! They would have love it here, he was sure of it! It... It just wasn't fair! Why did he always have to lose everything he cared about?! What had he done to deserve that?!

He couldn't hold back his tears, and they finally started flowing from his eyes, blurring his vision slightly –not that it was needed since he wasn't wearing his glasses–. He started to whimper softly, thinking about all the good moments with his dear family while holding the crystal like it would suddenly evaporate if he ever let go of it. It was the last thing he had that was connecting him physically to his loved ones. That and the memories. He was certain that he heard the Voice trying to choke back a sob but failing miserably. They never really met the gang but they loved them just as much. It was torture for the both of them. Or just for him maybe? The Voice was technically him after all... Not that it mattered. Not now at least.

He thought back to the time were Cross set the kitchen on fire since he panicked while cooking because Dust had somehow managed to bring a cow in the mansion. He let out a watery laugh. They spent hours trying to find Cross, who had ran away at the sight of the cow. Turns out, he was hiding in the vents, eating his chocolate while waiting to be found. That day, they ended up eating steak unsurprisingly. Everyone knew Horror only agreed to do this prank to eat the cow in the end, he was almost drooling while looking at it! He couldn't be more obvious!

He remembered all those times the gang and Blue had to chase him around to force him to eat and sleep. He didn't need it and didn't have time, it wasn't his fault that he found no appeal in the activities! At first, the chase was only in the mansion... Until he tried to escape to an AU. Then, the Multiverse became their playground. It was really funny, and he would've won if Fresh didn't somehow learned of the situation and decided to betray him by taking him from the Anti-Void to the mansion –no one ever knew how he managed to find both locations, but it wasn't a problem considering he was rather neutral toward them, sometimes even friendly–! Damn parasite...

There was also this time when they played 'Hide and Seek'. Somehow, most of them decided to hide in the same place, making it harder for them to all fit. They also had to keep themselves from laughing, and it wasn't easy. They also decided to banish Nightmare from the seeker's role. Bastard always used their emotions to track them and find them.

He continued to think about all the good times with his friends for a few minutes –perhaps even an hour; he really had no idea and couldn't comprehend time even if he tried–, laughing at certain memories. He ended up wiping his tears before getting up from his rock, sighing softly. He looked up and gaped at the sight he was met with; three dragons flying just above him and playing together. One was red and orange, another was green and yellow and the last one was entirely brown. They were absolutely beautiful.

But before he could go back into the jungle, the sound of moving leaves made him perk up and turn toward some bushes. From there, a pack of magical creatures suddenly got out before surrounding him. They looked like wolves but their fur was abnormally green like herbs –and seemed extremely soft–, some flowers of different color decorating it, and a trail of petals seemed to follow their movements. "They're earth wolves. Their bite is poisonous and they are connected in a way to the flora. Unless they see you as a threat, they shouldn't do anything."

He nodded simply, watching them attentively. He could sense their SOULs pulse softly, which was good since it meant they probably didn't consider him as a direct threat to them. They probably wouldn't attack, and he hoped they wouldn't; he didn't want to already start a fight, and he didn't want to hurt animals. He always had a soft spot for animals.

Suddenly, the wolves all jumped at him.

He tensed up, waiting to be bitten by them, only to be licked affectionately on the cheek by one of them, while another nuzzled itself against him. He blinked, looking at them with confusion before smiling slightly, hugging one to his chest.

And that's how he ended up there; surrounded by earth wolves who seemed to really like him for some reasons. He could now confirm that their fur was really soft at the touch, since he petted all of them at least once. The younger of the pack were apparently playing tag together, which was really cute. One of them, the one who licked his cheek, was laying on his laps and the other were all around him. He felt really happy around them. "I think they sensed your sadness through your SOUL and came to comfort you... That's so cute!!"

He couldn't disagree with the Voice, if they were right, it was truly adorable of those wolves. He smiled and looked toward the sky, smiling at the sight of numerous birds flying above him. He liked it here, truly. And knowing he didn't have to destroy only made it better. It would have kill him to destroy such a beautiful place. He really hoped Destiny and Karma would be able to bring his friends here, they needed to see that!

After a while, the wolves went away and he got up. He dusted himself off before going back to the forest, thinking about random things. "HmM... MaYbE I ShOUlD ChANgE mY ouTFiT tO LoOk MoRe LiKe ThE MoNSTeRs HeRE... I DidN'T mEt AnYoNe YeT, MaYbE ThEY hAvE sPeCiFiC ThEmES FoR THeIr ClOtHeS, LiKe UnDERfELL iS MOstLy ReD aNd BlAcK. I MeAn, I'M tHaNkFuLl ThAT DeStIny AnD KaRmA rEpAiReD My ClOtHeS bUt If I sTaY hErE, I nEEd tO FiT iN..." Once again, he could feel the Voice nod in his SOUL, accompanied by a small hum.

He sighed. He would think about this later, for now... "CaN wE sTaRT tHe TrAiNInG, VoICE?" Suddenly, he could feel a lot of energy coming from his SOUL. He guessed they were enthusiastic. "Of course we can, if you're ready!"

"WeLL iT'S bETTeR iF I cAn CoNtROl ThIS mAgIc FaSt So... YeAH, I'M rEAdY. BuT wHeRe ArE wE gOIng to TrAin? My MaGiC Is DeStrUCtIve AnD I dON't wAnT TO desTRoY EvERyThinG HeRE..."

The Voice laughed. "Well I guess it's time for you to see one of the Deities' gift. Try to open a portal to the Anti-Void." Now, he was confused. There was something else, beside the powers? And what did the Anti-Void have to do with it? "ThIs MuLtIvERsE AnTi-VoID? BuT wOuLdN'T I rIsK To MeET AnOtHER ErRoR?"

He said it instinctively, and that was the first time he actually realized there might be another 'him'. Perhaps, he should search a new name for him if there was one. It reminded him he still haven't checked the Multiverse's codes. "Nah, don't worry, just try and I'll explain everything!"

"WeLl ThEn... oK." And like that, he raised his hand slowly and lowered it faster, opening a portal to the white abyss he had grown used to. But it was different; his strings weren't up and there was no SOUL tied up, leaving only the pure whiteness of the Anti-Void. Well that wasn't exactly true; instead of his strings, white and golden strings like the ones hugging his SOUL were present, barely noticeable because of the color of the Anti-Void. A few strings were situated lower than the others, and were tied around what seemed to be a letter. The Voice seemed rather excited. "There! Open it!"

And so, he went toward the strings holding the letter, who let go of the paper once his fingers barely brushed against it. He took his glasses out of his pocket and started to read the letter.
