Chapter 39: Troubling Times

[I'm back with the next chapters! And sorry if updates slow down even more, I'm starting school tomorrow. :/ ]

Flint sat outside the cell, contemplating what he had just witnessed. It's been a long time since I've seen Princess Anarchy, but.. he thought, troubled. ...but I never imagined she'd go crazy.. I doubt she actually is, he decided, shaking his head.

Flint looked up to see RedRunner coming through the entrance, anxiously fidgeting with his talons.

"What is it, RedRunner?" he asked, tilting his head.

"AHA!" Princess Anarchy announced, leaping at the bars. RedRunner jumped back slightly in surprise.

"I THOUGHT I SAW YOU TWO!" she said surely.

"Oh uh, yeah..!" RedRunner replied, slowly turning toward Flint.

Flint opened his snout as if he had something to say, but decided not to say it. He just motioned with his talon for RedRunner to continue with what he had to say.

"Mother and Father want us to assassinate General Swoop," he whispered, making sure the imprisoned Princess couldn't hear their conversation. Flint sighed.

"Alright. We can do it tonight," he whispered back, looking away.

RedRunner, clearly not wanting to do it as much as Flint didn't, looked down at his talons before leaving the prison. After RedRunner's bright red tail had vanished from view, Flint looked up after him.

Oh, why do Mother and Father force us to do what we don't want to..? Flint wondered sadly.

That night, everything went as planned. The assassination was flawless and the General was found dead I his own bed the next morning, his family grieving over his death.

"Oh who would do this?" Gale cried as Admiral Kenobi swore his vengeance on whoever killed his father.

A few days passed, nothing else very interesting happening around the castle like until the day Princess Anarchy was to be released.

"Do we have to let her out?" Princess Blaze whined, stamping her feet angrily.

"Of couwse we do," Princess Grouse, the newest and youngest daughter of Queen Ruby, babbled, rolling her eyes as if it was obvious.

In Flint's opinion, he wanted the Princess to be released. He had grown to appreciate her over the time he has spent in the dungeon with her. I mean, who would lock a dragon like that up? She's fierce and independent. I like— ...wait.. No. I CANNOT SAY THAT. I cannot even THINK it! It is very forbidden. I want her out so she'll be easier to assassinate.. he thought reassuringly, silently chuckling nervously.

Flint snapped into attention as he heard laughter from the darkness in the corner of an empty, open cell.

Uh-oh. A lithe black, dark purple, and slate-blue dragon slipped out of the shadows.

"That is quite interesting," Mightyroar grinned.
