You couldn't stop smiling. You had just finished dancing with Torikku, and it was one of the most exhilarating things you've ever done. The music was fast-paced, yet he kept perfectly in time, guiding you across the square. Dipping, twirling, spinning. After a while, you get tired and go to sit down. Torikku joins you, placing himself rather close to your body.

"I've had a lot of fun, Torikku! Thank you for taking me to do this!" You exclaim.

"It's really no problem. I had fun, too. But, this doesn't have to end. There's still plenty of time before the fireworks. We can go explore more of the forest. You can even meet one of my friends." He tries to persuade. You think about it for a minute before nodding.

Torikku leads you towards the treeline. Hand in hand, him guiding you like before. But, there's more intent this time. More haste.

In all truths, that was right. Torikku was trying to get you away. He didn't want you anywhere near the fighting. He doesn't want you to see what he becomes in a battle. He doesn't want you seeing the monster within.

"Tamayo. Tamayo! I have someone here to see you. It's the girl I told you about." Torikku hollers to the trees. Surprisingly, a woman with beautiful purple irises emerged.

"Ah! You must be (Y/N). He's told me so much about you. Please, come join me for a cup of tea." Tamayo greeted. She pulled a tea kettle and some cups out of seemingly nowhere and planted herself on the ground.

Torikku, noticing that you were comfortable a few minutes later, said, "I need to go take care of something. Stay here. I promise that I'll come and get you later." He pats your head goodbye.

Tamayo made sure that Torikku was gone before dropping her happy facade.

"Listen to me (Y/N) (L/N), and listen to me well. Torikku is not human. He's a demon who's been conspiring with Lord Muzan, king of demons. They plan to attack the two slayers you have been staying with. Tonight, when the big finale of the fireworks goes off, they'll start picking off the humans. Torikku told me to distract you and keep you here until after the attack was over. He wants to protect you, but this isn't right. I only know all of this because I'm a demon as well. I hate that I am. Please, kill Muzan and set me free from this curse. Let me see my family again. I beg of you..." Tamayo explains before choking up and crying.

You decide to comfort her, rubbing circles on her back. The emotions in her voice were pure pain, guilt, and regret. It made the night take on a melancholy atmosphere. The frog's song seemed quieter and more solemn. Lanterns and stars dimmed in respect and mourning.

Eventually, her silent sobs came to an end. She stood, dragging you to your feet as well. "There's no use crying over what's already happened. No changing the past. Only focusing on the future and how we can bend it to what we it to be." She says with one final sniffle. You nod.

"Well, we better get going. I want you to meet up with the two slayers you came here with. Tell them to prepare. I won't be able to assist you. In fact, I'll be fighting against you. I won't recognize you. I'll be a bloodthirsty monster with no control."

"I see. Is there anything I can do to help you fight it?" You ask her.

"Not that I know of. The only thing you can do is tie me to a tree. That will at least give you enough time to get a head start." Tamayo hands you a rope and picks out the most sturdy tree she can find. You set to work, tying a tight knot around her.

"Is this good?" You question.

"It should hold me for a little while, at least. Please, be careful. I wish you the best of luck." Tamayo smiled.

You took this as a sign to get back to the town. 'I have to find the brothers. They'll be sitting ducks if I don't. May the ground have mercy on my legs.' You think.

Yoriichi and Michikatsu just picked out the perfect ring for you.

"I can not wait to propose to our beloved (Y/N)! I'm sure she'll love the ring we got for her." Yoriichi giddily beams. Michikatsu smiles at his little brother's antics.

They make their way to the town square, expecting to find you and Torikku. However, they only found strangers.

"Where are (Y/N) and Torikku? He didn't kidnap her, right? He couldn't have." Michikatsu whispers just loud enough for his brother to hear.

"We have to find her. I'll ask some of our fellow festival- goers if they've seen a (H/C) female with a black haired male go anywhere." The younger twin says before going off into the crowd.

A few minutes later, he comes back with a straight face. "No one has seen her. Do you think they even came here? Or did he just drag her off to who knows where?"

"I'm not sure. What should we do? We have no leads." Michikatsu solemnly mutters.

That was when a figure pounced on them, knocking them to the ground. Acting upon their instincts, they quickly flipped the person to be below them.

"Hey! Guys, chill. It's me! (Y/N)!" You quickly spit out.

"(Y/N)?!" Yoriichi exclaims.

"Oh goodness! We're so sorry. Are you alright? You can't pounce on us like that!" Michikatsu scolds.

"We could've really hurt you! Where did you go? And, where's that Torikku character?" Yoriichi asks.

"I don't know, but that's not important right now. What is important is that we prepare for battle. The demon king is going to attack you both tonight once the big firework finale hits. Torikku is a demon and is working with him. We have to stop them, or many lives will be lost." You frantically explain.

The brothers' faces dropped as you continued talking. "I had always gotten an odd vibe from him. How could I be so stupid as to not recognize a demon's aura." Michikatsu berates himself.

"It's also my fault. I've spent the most time with him, and I didn't even know! I'm so sorry." You feel tears want to well up. You trusted Torikku. How could he not tell you?

Yoriichi interjected, "No! It's not your fault! He's just a tricky fox. Once I see him, I'll kill him."

"Let's prepare. What do I need to do?" You ask them. They look at each other and nod.

"You need to stay safe. That's the best thing you can do. Just hide yourself and let us take care of this." Michikatsu tells you.

"What?! But I can fight! Please, let me help you!" You plea. However, they fall upon deaf ears.

"(Y/N). Please. For our sake, stay hidden and out of danger." The younger brother states, pulling you into a hug. Michikatsu soon joins the embrace. Breaking it, they bring you to an alleyway where they tell you to sit. You oblige, knowing that there's no use fighting. They each kiss one of your hands before leaving you alone, bored, and worried.

Torikku just received an update from Morro. 'So, Tamayo decided to betray us. Oh well, she's chosen her side. All I have to do is win this and kill those two slayers. Then, (Y/N) can become my lover. We will be together for all eternity.' He wistfully thought.

The first firework lit the sky ablaze. It's only a matter of time now.

I'm gonna be fr, writing Tamayo kinda made me cry a little.

Anyway! I found motivation! Yay!
