You pressed your feet against the floor, pushing your chair away from the desk. It creaked under the sudden pressure. Your hand made its way into your bag, feeling a soft texture of a cloth wrapped around a certain box. You pulled it out as you stood up from your spot, making your way over to your favorite tangerine boy, who was just about to leave the class for lunch.

"Hey, Hinata?"

His gaze shot up to you. "Y/n! What's up?"

This is so out of my comfort zone. You took a deep breath before answering. "Will you be with Nishinoya during the break?"

The boy looked at you, slightly puzzled. "Uhh, yeah most likely. Why?"

You held out a hand his way. Bento box with libero's favorite food was hanging in between your fingers.
"Could you possibly give this to him?" You turned your eyes away from his fixed gaze, blush creeping onto your face. I can't even bring myself to give it to him personally.
How fucking embarrassing...

"You made it for him?" he asked yet another question as he took the box from your hand carefully, not to drop it.

You nodded with face still turned away from him.

"So, you do like him!!" he shouted, maybe a little too loud.

"Hinata! No, I don't, not like that. He bought food for me yesterday and I wanted to pay him back somehow. So, I made him this."
Nothing more, nothing less.
You felt guilty after accepting the food he got for you, despite him telling you not to worry about it.

Most of the students have already left the classroom. Those who haven't were just on their way to do so and the hunger bubbling in their stomachs made them indifferent to anything other than food. No one paid attention to the words of loud ball of energy at the moment.

Not even a certain black-haired boy with stern look on his face, who stood near the entrance, waiting for his companion to finally depart from the room as well. "Hinata, let's go, I'm starving!"

"Right, right! Sureee, I can give it to himmm~"

"Hinata, if you don't get your ass over here right now, I'll be having you for lunch," a grumpy growl resonated through the air.

The boy whose name has been called in such warning manner gulped. "Okay, geez I'm coming! Enjoy your break Y/n!!"

You smiled warmly. Only after the pair turned their backs to you, so they wouldn't see.

With their departure, you remained alone in the classroom once again. Not being a fan of noise nor crowd, you spent your lunch breaks here. Alone and in peace.

You took out your own lunch and made your way over to temporarily empty desk right beside an open window. Soft breeze flowing in.
You hopped on top, cold surface pressing against your skin, and you stuck an earbud in your ear. Surrounding yourself with music, rather than deadly silence, since you found it more comforting. Focusing on the lyrics of the song, rather than empty thoughts that appear in such silence.

You opened your lunchbox. Just as you were about to take the first bite a loud noise resonated through the classroom.

Bang!

You flinched.

It sounded like someone busted the door open with much greater force than they had at first anticipated.

"Y/n!!!"

You turned your head from the window, searching for the source of disturbance.
That voice-

"You made this for me?"

-belonged to no one else than to the short libero of Karasuno's volleyball team.

What is he doing here?
You gulped, eyeing him in disbelief, as he panted in the doorway, your lunchbox in his palm.

He came running here. His eyes were wide open, pupils almost as huge as his iris, reflecting so much wonder and admiration it made your heart skip a beat.

"Y-yeah..?" you blinked in confusion.

Nishinoya pressed the bento box to his chest, like it was a blessing from God himself.
Are those tears in his eyes...?

"Y/n, you're so kiiiind!!! What did I even do to deserve youuuu!!!" he shouted with absolutely no shame, wiggling around.

"What- I-" you became more and more confused with each word that escaped his lips. You rubbed the back of your head, getting all flustered because of his unexpected reaction. "It's because- you know, you bought food for me so I wanted to return the favor-"

He sniffled, right before tears spattered from his eyes like two fountains. "Thaaank youuuu soooo muuuuch!!!" his words prolonged unnaturally as he spoke.

"Gah!" you quickly placed your lunchbox down, jumping off from the desk you were seated on. You made your way over to the short boy who, for some reason, seemed to be drowning himself in tears now.

"Senpai-" you stopped just a few inches from his small figure. "You didn't have to come all the way here just to thank me- "

His eyes fluttered open in shock. "You kidding?! Of course, I had to!" he wiped his tears away with the back of his hand. "When Hinata gave the box to me saying it was from you I almost had a stroke!"

what-

"I was looking for you all over the cafeteria, but you weren't there! So, I figured I'll find you here," he cocked his head to the side with question about to be placed, "But, why weren't you in the cafeteria?"

If you feel lonely
I could be lonely with you

You bit your inner cheek. "Weeell, I usually eat here. Canteen is too noisy... and I don't like eating in front of people," you added, though it wasn't necessary. You just felt like telling him a little more than you usually would.

Tell me baby
Why do you seem so blue?

"Ohh, I see," his eyes moved quickly from side to side as if he was processing the information you gave him.
"Doesn't it get lonely sometimes?"
After a while his gaze stopped at your face and remained glued to it.

You shrugged.

.
.
.

"Do youuu... want me to leave?"

Why are we so complicated?
Maybe love is overrated

You fiddled with your fingers, tearing away the dry skin along your nails unconsciously, and though for a while before shanking your head.
"No... You can stay if you want."
Really?
Why would you let him?

I'm tired of waitin' I was never good at sports

The short boy exhaled sharply, obviously relieved. "I was hoping you'd say that!!"
