Chapter 3

((This is a little longer than the others-
I'm trying-))

It's been a few weeks since I've taken the entrance exam for UA, and I've been really anxious about my results. "That's great baby!" My mother had chimed in after I had told her how I think I did. "Now we need to wait to see if I got in mom. It's a 1 of 300 chance, so the odds aren't exactly in my favor." I hear her giggle on her side of the phone, "That's ok, you did your best and I would still love you even if you didn't get in." I smile as I walk down the sidewalk. My feet scraping every few steps. "Thanks mom. You're the best mom I could ever wish for." I hear the smile in her voice as she compliments me back. "Oh! Your brother will be visiting you for about a week in 3 days! He wants to see how his little sister is doing. You know, since you want to be a hero. It being a dangerous job and all-" "You want him to make sure I'm not gonna get really hurt, by having him do his classes online from the time he gets here, through the first month of school?" She giggles, "Yes, that. You're so smart!" I chuckle in response as I walk into the store to buy some food to cook. "You're the reason I'm as smart as I am. You and dad. God... I miss you guys so much... I'm actually excited to see the pleb again." she giggles once again adding "Yeah, we miss you too baby. Especially me. Don't you forget it! " I smile and add with a giggle to my tone, "I won't mom. I'll never forget it. Or you guys for that matter." I look up only to see the green haired boy. 'What was his name again? Izuku?' I decide to walk over to him as I talk to my mom since he is in front of the meat that I need to buy. "So, how's grandma? Is she doing better at all? I doubt that bed is comfortable." My mom then almost screams which can be heard clearly through my phone by almost 2 feet, and I wince. "Yes! She's doing so much better and when she's done recovering we'll visit you!" Izuku had looked over at me having heard my mother. "Is that why it's gonna be 3 days? So you all are coming at once?" My mom jokingly says, "Darn, you've figured me out ha ha!" I try to ignore Izuku's staring as I keep conversing with my mom. "Ha ha! Well, I guess I'll see you then! I miss you mom. I'm so excited to see you. How long has it been? 4 months?" "7 months dear, I'm excited too!" 'Has it really been that long?' "Wow, that's longer than it feels like it's been." "Well, has my daughter made friends to make it go by faster?" I chuckle awkwardly, "No. No friends yet mom. Just waking up early for training on a trashed beach. Someone has been cleaning it though. I have yet to see them." She hums in response. I had glanced at Izuku and he's just staring. 'I wonder what he's thinking about...' My thoughts are interrupted by my mom's voice. "Well, keep up the great work sweetheart. I'll see you in three days! Love you!" I turn my attention away from Izuku, "Alright, love you too mom! Bye." "Bye-bye baby."

I ended the call. "Who was that? You speak English?" I jumped at the sudden voice speaking to me in Japanese. "Oh, hi Izuku." I take a deep breath, "You startled me." He looks off awkwardly, sweating nervously. I glance where he's looking, and see whom I think is his mom giving him a thumbs up. "Sorry about that. What brings you here? And uhh... by yourself nonetheless?" I look up at him and reply, "My family is in America. I'm here to go to one of the best hero courses in the world... did I say that right?" He stares at me in awe for a few seconds before bursting, "You're from America?!" I jumped a little again, but giggle and nod at him. I guess he realized his outburst glancing around quickly and apologizing. I grab a package of meat to see how it is. "Wait. Are you having to buy your own food?" I nod, "Yeah, but my family sends me money for here from there, since it's worth less there I'll get more here. It's not as bad as you think. You'll get more US dollars here than there with your money now." He nods in understanding. "So, who was that on the phone? Your mom?" I look up at him and chuckle, "You're nosy, aren't you?" He seems to panic and wave his arms around talking way too fast for me to understand. "Calm down! I can't understand you," I giggle, "Yes, it was my mom. Her, my grandmother, and brother are coming in 3 days. I'm excited to see them again. It's been 7 months." He looks a little in awe at how long it's been. "Wow, I don't think I could stay that far away from home that long." I smile at him and say, "Well, training makes it easier. It takes up most of my time." His eyes sparkle at the word 'training' and quickly asks, "Where do you train? When do you train? How extensive are your workouts?-" His speech only gets faster after those 3 questions. "Izuku!" He stops and sinks a bit, "Sorry." "Heh it's fine. I just can't understand Japanese that well yet. You'll need to talk a bit slower for me to understand. I understood the first 3 you asked, and I'll answer those. I train at the trashed beach, though someone has cleaned it up, I train from 6 to 7, and I do full body workouts. I bring my swimsuit to swim sometimes. It's been pretty great actually." He looked a little uneasy after I finished explaining. "Is something wrong?" He perks up quickly "MOM WE NEED TO GO-" His mom looked startled as she was looking at some product or something. "Oh, uhh, ok Izuku." And with that they walked off. 'Did I say something wrong?' I thought before trying to shrug it off, and get stuff to make food.

I had gotten into the self-checkout and saw Bakugou with, whom I'm guessing is, his mom. I try my best to just scan the items and leave, but when I turn around after paying to leave, he was standing right there. I let out a small 'eep' dropping my stuff. I curse myself and then bend down to pick it back up. "Hey." He said flatly. "Uhh, hi." I responded shyly. I glance at his mom who is looking at me and looks at her son surprised. "Uhm. How've you been?" "I've been fine I guess. You?" I look up at him nervously, "I'm doing ok. I have family visiting in 3 days." He looks at me with a softer gaze, easing me into conversation. "That's good. Your grandmother doing better?" I nod, "That's why they're able to come." he looks at the food in my hands, then says "I'll let you go. Looks like you have frozen foods." I nod "Yeah." He paused, looked at his mom who nodded, then to me. "Do you have a car? This place is about 5 miles from you apartment." I freeze for a second, then shake my head. "You want a ride home?" I hesitate for a minute before he adds, "Your food is getting warm." I then say "Yeah, thanks." He nods, and I think I saw him smile for a split second before turning away. He nods to his mom who says, "Come on honey. We'll give you a lift." I smile and thank her. We were walking out of the store when I get a text. I look at my phone, and it's from my brother. I open it to see a selfie of him with a friend of his. She looks nice. I read the text he sent after the picture. 'Chilling with the babes-' I roll my eyes and respond, 'so, that pretty girl or someone else?' He had quickly responded with, 'Oof-.' I put my phone away for the time being, as Bakugou's mom was trying to talk to me, but she said a few words I couldn't understand. I just look confused. "Is something wrong?" I then say, "I speak English, and know only a little Japanese. Most of what you said I couldn't understand..." Bakugou speaks up in English, "She uh, asking directions." I giggle a little and tell her where to go. While sitting in the back I was asked, "Why did you laugh after I told you what she was asking?" I think of what to say so I don't mess it up. "You said, 'She asking directions' with an uh after she." I said giggling. He looked at me before asking, "How do you say, "She was asking for directions in English?" I giggle, and answer it for him. "Ok, that's fairly simple." I giggled a little bit as we pulled up to my complex. "Oh! Here! On the left!" She pulls over to the side to let me out. "Thank you for the ride home." She smiles at me and says, "No problem hun."

I wave as they drive off into the distance. I get up to my door when I hear my neighbors arguing again. I sigh as I unlock my door and walk inside to put the food away, and make myself dinner. Locking the door behind me, I walked into the kitchen setting down the bags looking at my living space. 'This place is trashed...' I start putting away the food I wasn't going to eat, and making the food I was. I was seasoning the hamburger meat to have the first burgers I've had in a while. It was starting to smell good, because I heard my neighbors stop arguing. I smiled to myself knowing that since I was young, and they thought I was making something fancy they stopped bickering. I was finished with the burgers and I had put some fries in the oven, but they needed to be cooked a little longer for my liking. I sat down on the couch watching the news, and all might was there. Answering questions, and being loved by fans. After about 5 minutes I got up to get the fries out before they burned. I set a plate up with two burgers, some vegetables, fries, and ketchup. I sat back down on the couch, but they were doing an interview with Endeavor; the number 2 hero. He wasn't as charismatic as the number 1 hero, All Might, but he had a powerful quirk. Acting almost childish when they asked about why he was so aggressive with not just villains, but civilians as well. He didn't answer those questions. I can see why a lot of people didn't like him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't save lives. He's the number 2 hero for a reason after all.

When I was done eating, I had decided that instead of training tomorrow, I'd clean my house up for when my family does show up. I put the food away, take a shower, and end the day at 9 pm. I was too tired to hear an envelope get slipped through my mail slot when I walked to my room.
