Chapter 18: Typical Grady....

Chapter 18

~Grady’s POV~

Thomas was annoyed.

I knew this because every time I sent him a text he either didn’t reply and I had to send it again or he answered in monosyllables. I couldn’t help it though I’d already finished my art piece for visual arts class so I was stuck here bored as hell while Thomas was living it up in physics.

He always got annoyed when I texted him in class, he was after all a nerd; only he certainly didn’t even come close to looking the part.

I typed up another message and hit send then looked around the room at my fellow classmates who were all still slaving over the simple assignment; I could never understand why people found anything school related so difficult since it was all so simple to me.

When my phone vibrated I picked it up from the desk and read Thomas’s reply then couldn’t help but groan in annoyance.

“I just don’t think getting that bike is a good idea.” Thomas had texted back.

“Why not? And don’t say it’s irresponsible because getting a bike doesn’t mean I’m not responsible.” I replied.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised he’d have a problem with it. He probably thought I’d do something reckless with it but what he couldn’t seem to grasp was that I’d changed. Ever since getting a taste of what it would feel like if Thomas left me I wasn’t about to do something stupid to jeopardize that. Hell no.

“Wish u’d listen 2 me for once.” Thomas replied and I rolled my eyes at the phone.

“Stop worrying grandma, I’m not gonna do something stupid you’ll see.” I sent back and not a minute later his reply came in.

“Just don’t come crying to me when you end up in prison for running somebody over.”

I chuckled at that but stood my ground. I wouldn’t allow him to sway me.

“Yeah yeah asswipe, making a down payment today.”

“Yup.” Was his only reply, which in ‘Thomas language’ meant he wasn’t pleased and as much as I valued his opinion I was getting the bike anyway, why not? You only live once right?

Besides, he worried too much; and while I appreciated his concern it could be a bit annoying, like right now for instance.

“I hate when you do this -_-” I typed then hit send.

There went my mood.

“What? If you wanna buy it then buy it, don’t let me stop you.” He sent back. And while it sounded nice and innocent on its face I knew exactly what he was trying to do.

“Stop trynna make me feel guilty. I’ve wanted a bike forevr now, gonna make the down payment today. For sure.” I jammed on the phone buttons and slammed down the phone causing a few students to look up at me in question but a quick grin  in their direction had them smiling back and continuing with their work.

Meanwhile my fingers drummed on the table as I awaited his reply. Just like that he’d succeeded in making me feel guilty.

Stupid Thomas.

“Okay.” Was what he texted back and I fought the urge to fling the phone across the room.

“Stop that!” I sent.

“Stop what?” he replied.

“Stop being you! It’s annoying!”

“Welcome to my world, maybe you should remember how it feels to be annoyed the next time you try it on me.” Was his reply not two seconds later and I bristled.

“Just for that, you won’t be the first person to get a ride on my awesome new motorcycle.” I sent.

“No prob.” He texted.

“I hate you -_-”  I replied in frustration.

“That’s not what you were screaming last night ;)” Thomas teased and I felt my cheeks grow hot at the words.

“Fuck you.” I typed, my cheeks still flaming.

“Gladly.” Was his instant reply and they grew even hotter, thoughts from the previous night running through my mind.

Thomas kissing my neck, licking a trail down my body, Thomas holding me down and me begging him to…to…

“Jesus.” I groaned as the thoughts assailed me. In no time at all I felt myself harden and I looked down in horror then around the class to see if anyone noticed, but as always they were more interested in their art pieces.

“Wish I was staying over your place tonight, then you’d be the one begging.” I typed back, still feeling slightly embarrassed at his words.

“Not likely.” Thomas sent and I had to admit he was right.

I had yet to get Thomas to make even half the sounds I did when we went at it because he always had to be in control. Jeez just thinking about the helpless sex-crazed maniac he turned me into in bed had my cheeks flaming from embarrassment yet again.

“I swear imma have you begging for it one of these nights.”I replied. Determined to make my pronouncement come into being.

“Wanna bet on it Juliet?” he replied and I stifled a groan.

“Juliet? Haha very funny…whatever, you’ll see I’m gonna make you beg for it until you’re weak and then-“

I was midway through typing the message when my phone was snatched from my hands.

“Well wha’d we have here?” Marcus teased with a grin.

My eyes grew wide when I spotted my phone in his hand and I moved to grab it back from him but the other guys around him blocked my access with a laugh.

Sometimes my friends could be a huge pain in my ass.

“Come on guys, hand it over.” I said in almost near desperation, terrified that they’d read the texts I’d been sending to Thomas.

“Okay let’s see...” Marcus started, looking down at the screen with an evil grin.

My heart plummeted as I tried to remember whether I had written Thomas’s name in any of the texts I’d sent, that was my only fear because Thomas’s number was saved in my phone as ‘T’ so they’d have no way of knowing it was him.

“I’m gonna make you beg till you’re weak… wow damn Grady way to tell her. Wait T? as in Tara? You’re fucking Tara from class C?” Marcus asked in awe and I swallowed against the lump which had formed in my throat.

“Gimmie my phone dumbass.” I answered then exhaled in relief when he dropped in into my palm.

“You Grady are a fuckin god!” Marcus announced, looking at me like I was his king. Then he slapped me on the back in praise as did the others.

“Yeah yeah, now obey your king and get lost.” I tried to joke and watched as they left my side, discussing what had just gone down.

I dropped into my seat, wiping the film of sweat from my brow then I erased the message I had been typing and started again.

“Dude, I swear to God I almost had a heart attack. The guys grabbed my phone and read my texts to you!” I sent then released a breath thanking my lucky stars I’d been too lazy to actually type out Thomas’s full name in the contacts.

“What?? Shit wha’d they say? You want me to come down there?” his reply came in a flash and I wondered briefly if I should just drag this out, just to mess with him.

“It’s bad dude, get your ass down here, quick, I’m in the studio!” I typed and smiled evilly.

He could make me beg but we both knew who had the power to make his heart beat faster.

I hit send then leaned back in my chair in satisfaction. I didn’t feel so bored anymore.

Five minutes later the classroom door was flung open and an out of breath Thomas was standing in the door way. His eyes scanning the shocked faces before him. When they landed on me I pushed up with a grin and walked over to the exit, pulling him outside with me as I went.

“So?” Thomas asked looking around as if trying to spot danger.
“So what?” I asked, feigning confusion.

“Wha’dya mean ‘so what?’ where are the guys? How’d they take it? Wha’d they do?” he asked looking over my body…for injuries I guessed.

“Oh that? Yeah they had no idea it was you, I saved your name as ‘T’ so they thought I was texting Tara.” I told him, while trying to keep the grin off my face.

“What?” he asked again clearly confused.

“Tara. Don’t you remember her, girl with the big breasts from class C?” I answered but this time I couldn’t help it, I burst out laughing and I watched as his face darkened.

“Hey don’t give me that look, they really did read my messages, they just didn’t figure out it was you. Speaking of that, you should probably take my name outta your phone too...just in case.” I told him, not that I had to since nobody would dare lay a hand on Thomas’s stuff.

I gulped when he grabbed me by my shirt collar and dragged me back into the classroom.

“One dollar to spend the night with Grady.” Thomas announced and before I could even blink a few hands went up, each holding a dollar in hand.

I glanced around at Thomas in shock.

“You.” Thomas pointed to a girl at the far side of the room. She was a scrawny little thing, decked out in braces, huge thick glasses and a sloppy ponytail; not really my idea of the perfect cup a tea.

“Dude, what’re ya doing?” I asked, clearly still in shock at the new turn of events.

Thomas bent to whisper in my ear; “Just remember, you even think about touching her and you’re dead.” He grinned, then he was out the door.

Ah I saw what he was doing here. I grinned, not a bad comeback I had to admit.

“Just so you all know” I turned to the class and announced “I’m worth way more than a bloddy dollar,” I clarified.

A few people chuckled at my words.

“Somehow I find that a little hard to believe, to your seat Mr. Mitchell.” The art teacher announced when she entered the class and the students snickered as I made my way to my seat.

“Thomas, I’m so gonna get you back for this.” I said to myself with a grin. Then began plotting my revenge.

………………………………

~Thomas’s POV~

“So you guys aren’t going to college then? Damn but that’s where all the fun happens.” Grady said but Carson only shrugged.

“We’ll probably go to community college or take online courses but it’s not like we can transport the pack wherever we are.” I explained to him.

We were sitting in the cafeteria with Carson and Laken.

“Yeah but can’t you just visit? I mean they’re plenty adults in the pack, it’ll be fine until you’re done with college.” Grady went on.

“A pack cannot stand without an Alpha, that’ll leave it open to challenge from other packs. In any case, the pack is our responsibility we can’t just leave it behind because we want to go to college, that’s insane.” Carson said again.

“What’s insane is wasting your life just to babysit a buncha wolf people.” Grady replied with a shake of his head and I kicked his shin in warning.

Carson may be our friend but he was still the Alpha, he was to be shown respect at all times.

“So what’s gonna happen then? Laken’s gonna stay here with you and miss out on college too?” Grady continued in question, looking back and forth between the couple.

“Yes.”

“No.”

Laken and Carson answered respectively and I looked over at them in surprise. Usually they were so in sync.

“Laken will be going to college and when he’s done he’ll come back to live in the pack.” Carson answered Grady his mouth set in a hard line.

“No way, I’m staying here with you, I don’t need college.” Laken said to Carson, his mouth also set in a firm line and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat at the vibe they were giving off as they glared at each other.

“No Laken, we agreed th-” Carson began only to be cut off by his fuming mate.

“No you agreed. I’m telling you I’m not going anywhere.” Laken said again, this time folding his arms in front of him as if to say his word was final.

“You seem to be forgetting that I’m the Alpha here and what I say goes.” Carson’s voice rose as he glared down at the teen before him.

“And you seem to be forgetting that I’m your mate and what I say matters too. Why would I want to move half way across the country to go to some college that you picked out and not even get to be with you? Hell no!” Laken retorted and I watched in them in horror.

I’d never seen someone actually raise their voice at the Alpha before and the feeling I got when Laken did so wasn’t a good one.

“Hmm kid’s got a point, it’s not like we even need college anyway, maybe I’ll stay here too since Thomas isn’t going.” Grady said in contemplation and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Grady you’re not helping.” I told him and watched as he shrugged and stuffed the cold pizza into his mouth.

“In any case you have two years before you’ll even have to go so calm down.” Carson tried to assure Laken.

“Doesn’t matter, I’m still not going anywhere without you and that’s final.” Laken said adamantly

“Laken-“ Carson began through gritted teeth but Grady spoke up before he could continue.

“Maybe you guys should talk to Jessie.” Grady announced, his mouth still full of pizza and tomato sauce stuck to his top lip.

Conversation at the table ceased as we all looked at him as if he’s just grown an extra head.

Grady looked back with wide eyes; “What? She’s nice.” He said and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Grady just focus on your lunch please.” I pleaded, my mate was trying to get himself killed and if Carson’s glare wasn’t evidence enough well now I was sure of it anyway.
