Two

Me: Hey it's Janeari.
Darnell: Hey Homie what's up?
Me: Nothing, I finally got home.
Darnell: it's 10:30pm? Shouldn't you be home earlier?
Me: Concerned much?
Darnell: I mean I'm a football player, I gotta get my sleep.
Me: how much sleep?
Darnell: Enough, why?
Me: Can we meet up? At the park? I need to talk to you
Darnell: Is this about the kiss?
Me: yeah
Darnell: be there in 10

I was nervous but I can't just go to school tomorrow not making things awkward. I jumped out my window and headed towards to park, every step I took I wanted to turn back. This kicked has me all messed up and I don't even know why. I thought I was devoted to Cam, hell we have been dating for almost two years but now, kissing Darnell, my perspective has changed. I can't think straight and I just need to figure things out.

I turned to corner and saw Darnell sitting on a bench at the park. Nervously, I walked towards him and took a seat. Where do I start? How do I start? God, I shouldn't have done this.
"Darnell, I–"
"I get it, I kissed you, you have a boyfriend and your best friend is Spencer," Darnell cut me off.
"Wow, you half way got it right, Spence knows, he saw it, but it's Cam, soon he's gonna find out, especially the way Crenshaw is, I just don't know what to do," I stated.
"What do you want?" Darnell asked.
"I don't know, I really don't, I've been with Cam for almost two years, how can I just break up with him, for you?" I said
"I get it, but truth is, since I've moved here, you've been the realest one I've met, and I know I just met you today, you have stolen my heart," Darnell started pouring his feeling out, "With moving around I try not to get a girl but I saw you, and I want you, I know that's a lot but since your real with me, I gotta be real with you girl,"
"Darnell, Cam is still in the picture and we just met, give me some time, please"
"Janeari, if I have to wait I will, but don't keep me waiting too long," Darnell paused, "it's late let me walk you home,"

I nodded and we started to walk. He grabbed my hand and I stopped him because I couldn't lead him on, not while I'm with Cam. I just have to figure that out and I don't know what I'm going to do.

When we got to my house I invited him inside, since my parents were asleep and I knew Coop wasn't paying attention and probably was sleeping if she wasn't doing music or with Patience. Darnell sat with me on my bed and for about 20 minutes we just sat there in silence. Then he started bursting out laughing.
"Whats so funny?" I asked.
"This, us whatever is it," He answered.
"What do you mean?"
"Well first, I kissed you, you didn't stop me, then you wouldn't let hold your hand now I'm sitting in your room with the door shut?" Darnell stated, "all little weird,"
"I know, I'm sorry things are all crazy," I apologized.
"No need to apologize, you know, I noticed you staring at me at practice, and when I found out you had a boyfriend, I was kinda hurt," Darnell said
"Hurt? Because I had a boyfriend and I was staring at you?" I asked.
"Yeah, I guess that's the best way to explain it, but I didn't think you would be the one to have someone,"
"Oh wow, stereotype much? Is it cause I'm pretty and black?"
"No, I don't know, hard to explain,"
"So, Corey okay with you being out this late?"
"He doesn't know, and he might be over at Spencer's, so it don't matter to me,"
"What about football?"
"I was just messing earlier,"

Darnell never went home, we both ended up falling asleep, but Darnell was respectful and slept on my floor. I woke up about 20 minutes before school and started freaking because I forgot Darnell fell asleep here. Coop came barging in and started at me, Darnell woke up confused.

Coop pointed at me and I stepped over Darnell to meet her in the hallway. She started scolding me about Darnell and who he was, not to mention Cam. She never gave me a second to explain my side.
"Coop! Shut up!! First, you are in no position to judge my life, not in the way you screwed yours over this year, so let me explain" I yelled.
"Fine whatever you gotta say sis," Coop backed off.
"Truth is, nothing happened, I was being nice and I needed to clear my head last night, so we went for a walk, then I let him in so we can JUST talk, then we fell asleep, why do you think he's on the floor," I started to raise my voice again.
"Girl, calm down, I'm more worried about you being labeled a skank, especially by your mans, got it?" Coop asked, and I nodded, "Now, you gonna walk outta this house without this boy, and I will walk with Darnell to be the nice friendly girl showing the new kid around, I got your back sis,"
"Thank you Coop, I appreciate you,"
"We are talking later and you spilling all the damn tea,"
"Whatever" I rolled my eyes and laughed.

I went back to my room and explained to Darnell what Coop planned so neither of us get caught. We both agreed that until I figure everything out that I don't want anything more than a friendship, I'm just glad he respects it. I kicked him out of my room so I could change. Coop and Darnell left five minutes before me, but I was able to catch up with them.

Coop's girlfriend, Patience, met up with us and they immediately started their own cute thing. I felt bad for Darnell because he really didn't know much so I had to explain a lot. Getting to school was fun, because all we did was laugh. Cam met me at the entrance and hugged me right away. I gave Darnell a fist pump before he went to class.
"You and Darnell are fast friends," Cam said.
"Just trying to be friendly, he's new, and I know Spencer isn't going to accept him, so why not show him around," I stated.
"And this is why I love you so much babygirl," Cam pulled me in and kissed me, "but I got to get to class, I'll see you at lunch?"
"Of course,"

Cam split and went to his class, and Coop was staring at me. She knew something was happening, and I couldn't keep a secret from her. I'm just still stuck. Kissing Cam though, wasn't like kissing Darnell. It wasn't as special, and it didn't make my heart flutter the way it used to, and I think it stopped a long time ago.

"Spill, now," Coop said.
"What?" I asked.
"Girl, you know we can sense the tension you had with Cam and he's a guy so he doesn't sense it like we do" Patience said.
"Your lucky I have a free period," I stated, and pointed to the one table.

We sat and I spilt my guts. I told Coop and Patience everything about yesterday. How did one day mess up my whole life? I'm questioning everything and anything. Darnell has got me all messed up.
"Sis, you will figure this out, but you should tell Cam that you and Darnell kissed, at least and say it was an accident, Darnell misread the signs and you stopped him, a little white lie won't hurt," Coop said.
"I know, but Cam will beat him up, and they need Darnell, you should see how great of a quarterback he is, like damn he is so fine," I stated, "ugh, I hate this, I have a man and I'm crushing on another,"
"Well, then you gotta figure out if you wanna be with Cam?" Patience stated, "We see the way he is, and yeah he can be sweet and all, but at the end of the day he's disrespectful and all, and girl you don't need that,"
"I know, I know, but it's hard, really hard, we've been together for so long," I replied.
"That's something you need to figure out, but you've also only known Darnell for a day, what if he's not who he comes off to be?" Patience asked.
"You're right, I'm just stuck," I said.
"You got to figure it out yourself," Coop said.

I gave each of them a hug, and left school, this is too much for me to handle right now, and I could use a day.
