"So what is it really like being an only child?" I asked.
"Nothing special, my mom cared more about protecting this country than me," Darnell stated, "But Corey cared a lot, and he always talked about Spencer,"
"Have you ever thought she protected the country for you?" I asked.
"No I haven't, but for her I never found stability," Darnell said, "it was hard,"
"That's true, but she will always wants the best for you," I said.
"Real question is, what is it like having a twin?" Darnell asked.
"Great, you have a built in best friend and soulmate who is also family you can never leave," I answered, "I mean you can, but Coop and I work through anything, but she is amazing and we know how to comfort each other,"
"Wow, I knew siblings had a strong bond, but twins? That's crazy," Darnell stated, "I wish I had siblings, but I liked being the only one, I never got annoyed,"
"You're mad annoying," I stated and rolled my eyes.

Darnell leaned over and started to tickle me, I laughed and climbed on top of him to get him to stop. He leaned up and kissed me. He grabbed me and flipped me over so he was on top. Our lips never parted. His hand traveled up the outside of my leg and he lifted it up. I swung my arms around his neck, and started to tug at his hair. Darnell started move down my neck and I let out a moan. He lifted his head up.
"Turn on much?" He asked.
"Hey, you gotta find them yourself," I stated, and sat up as he moved to sit next to me.
"Your gonna make me work for it?" Darnell questioned.
"Of course," I replied.
"Okay, I got you," Darnell answered.
"I just got to ask, are you virgin," I asked.
"No, there was a girl in Nevada, but it didn't work out," He stated, "I would ask you, but I take it that you and Cam did some nasty things,"
"Yeah, we did, but he never made it special," I said, "But he was always good at turning me on, so you gotta step your game,"
"Bet," Darnell stated.

That's been running through my mind for days now, since I've seen Darnell. He went on a trip with Spencer, Ms. Grace and Dillion to see if they can find Corey and bring him back. They did find him, but just as they were coming back, he passed on, and Spencer was the one who found him. Ms. Grace didn't want to leave Darnell by himself so now he's living with her, which I find so sweet of her, not like it's anything new to expect.

Spencer has changed, and I'm not liking it. After losing Corey, he quit football. He's focusing on school and work to get into college which makes no sense because if he stayed with football he could get a scholarship easily! I understand he's going through a hard time, but he is also not thinking right. His dad would never want him to quit football, ever. Spencer has NFL potential and quitting before he can even get there makes no sense.

It was only morning and school was not on my mind today, but I had to go, I needed to see Darnell to know how he was doing. I know Corey's death was just as hard on him. Coop was in my room putting braids in my hair so I can put on some makeup so I didn't look dead.
"J, Tyrone is back," Coop stated, I dropped my mascara.
"What? You mean the one you put away?" I asked.
"Yes, the one I locked up, he's back, I don't know how or why?" Coop answered.
"What are you going to do?" I asked.
"I don't know," Coop said.
"I mean, all you can do, is stay to yourself and not make him mad, you are the reason he was in jail, and if he's out he is going to come after you, stay out of his way," I sternly said.
"I need to talk to Preach, he will know more than me, but Tyrone scares me, he will destroy this neighborhood again," Coop said.
"I know, Sis, but you gotta keep a strong head on your shoulders," I stated.

I picked up my mascara and finished my makeup while Coop finished the braids. When we were all finished getting ready for school, we walked together and Patience joined us. I ended up stopping at Ms. Grace's house to see if Darnell left yet, and he didn't, so he joined us on our way to school. I didn't feel comfortable leaving Coop with Tyrone out, especially knowing that she is at the top of his radar for putting him in jail.
"How are you doing?" I asked Darnell.
"The best that can be expected, how's Spencer? I haven't seen him around," Darnell questioned.
"He's keeping himself busy with school and work," I stated, "I just wish he didn't quit football,"
"I get it, I'm gonna miss trying to beat his ass on the field but if this is how he needs to process we gotta let him," Darnell stated.
"I know," I said.
"Who did them braids? They are fire" Darnell asked.
"Thanks bro," Coop said and turned around to walk backwards.
"Where did you learn?" He asked.
"Well I've been doing her hair for as long as I can remember, but I also worked in a barber shop thanks to my late friend Shawn," Coop answered.
"Late? What happened if you don't mind me asking?" Darnell questioned. Coop turned back around and put her head down.
"Shawn was one of our best friends growing up and he ended up in the crowd, same with Coop, but Shawn tried to get out," I stated, "Long story short, Coop was on the phone with him and at his place when he got shot right outside of his building,"
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry," Darnell said.
"Hey, it's okay, it's just hard for Coop, she blames her self especially right now because the guy who set it up just got released from jail," I said, "She put him away too,"
"Oh wow, that's a lot, damn, I'm sorry Coop," Darnell said.
"It's all good bro, life has got to keep moving," Coop said and took Patience's hand.
"So do you still work at the barber shop?" Darnell asked.
"Nah, I quit that place a minute ago, I got my music to work on," Coop stated.
"Okay, okay, let me listen to some of it sometime," Darnell said.
"I got you bro," Coop said.

We got to school and all went our separate ways. I went to the field and started to remember some of the first times Spencer and I came out here to practice when we were just freshmen.

"J, you gotta be QB for me," Spencer stated.
"Why do I always got to be QB? Why can't I be a linebacker or anything else?" I asked.
"I'm wide receiver, I rely on the QB to throw to me, plus you got a strong throw," Spencer answered, "You should try out for the team,"
"No, I'm not going to," I said.
"Worth a shot," Spencer said, "Alright, let's run our go to play, the lateral to pass the defense and corner to the end zone?"
"I got it" I stated. I went to the seventh yard line and positioned myself. Once I knew Spencer was ready, I started, "Ready, set, Hut," I ran back a few yards to give Spencer a moment to run down and when we was open, I threw the ball. He caught it and sprinted to the end zone and made a touchdown.

"See J, I need you, Chris is good and all but we are a better team," Spencer said.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll stick to coaching you," I stated, "but I'm tired out, we have down about two hours of runs, and my arm is starting to hurt,"
"It's those throws you have, you are strong as hell I swear," Spencer said.
"I know I know," I stated.
"So what about Cam? I seen the way you two have been hanging out," Spencer asked.
"I don't know, he's cool, and he likes me but I grew up with him, I think it'll be weird," I answered.
"J, you're making it weird, give it a shot, come on we are in high school, have some fun," Spencer said.
"You too because you are too stiff and football oriented, you need a boo," I laughed.
"Oh yeah? I need a boo?" Spencer asked.
"Yes, you need a boo, but I mean we both single?" I bursted out laughing and Spencer joined in.
"You are too funny, J, that's why we family," Spencer said while trying to contain his laughter.

Just like that, Spencer quit football. We used to run plays for hours after practice so he can make sure he was showing his potential. Spencer needs football, it's the only connection he has to his dad, and quitting is not in his best interest. I just hope he changes his mind soon before it's too late.
