5 - necklace problems

Klaus and I sat back as we enjoyed the champagne that was being given to us, as we both waited for Rebekah.

We were currently at a clothing store in Chicago considering the only thing Rebekah actually had to wear was the dress she had been wearing the night we had all met. Not only was it dirty and slightly smelly, it was also outdated, nobody wore those dresses anymore.

"There has to be more to this dress" She called out from inside the dressing room, and Klaus sighed.

"There's not"

She opened the curtain and made her way out, wearing a dress that showed a lot of cleavage and had a slit on the right hand side, showing off her legs. She looked amazing, definitely better than she did in the other outfit, but she seemed disgusted.

"So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes then?"

"Not all of them actually" I spoke up, referring to myself.

"You know I got dirty looks for wearing trousers" She told me, and I nodded along with her words.

"Yeah today it's all about skinny jeans, everyone wears them" I shrugged and she huffed.

"And what is this music it sounds like a cable car accident?" She cringed, her accent becoming more obvious.

"It's dance music" I told her, she raised a brow.

"People dance to this?"

I hummed, taking a swig of my champagne as she scoffed. Something told me it was going to take a while for Rebekah to adjust to her new surroundings.

"Are we done?" Klaus spoke up, the tone in his voice made it clear he wasn't in the best of moods.

"And why are you so grumpy?" Rebekah asked him, now turning to face him.

"I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying. One thing. You necklace, and you lost it" He smirked, making a poof hand gesture.

"I didn't lose it. It's just been missing for 90 years" She corrected him. He couldn't really be mad at her, it wasn't like she could've done anything about it.

Turning her attention away from her brother, she glanced at me with a smile. "So, what do you think?"

She gestured to the black dress and I had to refrain myself from telling her how stunning I thought she looked. Partly because Klaus was sat next to me and partly because frankly it'd be quite embarrassing.

"I like it" I settled for, at least I was being honest.

She gave me a 'are you serious look' and I furrows my brows in confusion, "What? I said I like it"

"I can always tell when you're lying Cheryl"

I turned to Klaus, giving him a confused yet amused look. God, that girl can never take a compliment. She had returned into the dressing room, annoyed at me which I found annoying myself.

"Nice one. Good work" Klaus muttered, and I rolled my eyes.

"Wow okay, I'm not going to be ganged up on by two siblings who haven't even seen each other for almost a hundred years okay? I did nothing wrong" I ranted, waving my hand at him.

Klaus shook his head at my statement, a short chuckle escaping his lips as we both waited for Rebekah to return with the next outfit.

Arriving back at Gloria's bar, Rebekah had finally decided on an outfit that consisted of a white sparkly shirt, some dark shorts and brown heels which she had actually borrowed from me, after insulting the store owner for the lack of decent quality shoes.

The three of us sat at the bar, Klaus and I had sat on the stools whilst Rebekah was lounged on the counter as we all waited for Gloria to finish her spell that was supposed to help her find the missing necklace.

"It's hard to find something when you don't have anything to go on" Gloria told Klaus, after he had made a comment about how she was failing.

"So use me. I only wore it for a thousand years" Rebekah hopped off the bar and made her way to Gloria who smiled at the blonde.

"See this one offers a solution"

Rebekah placed her hand in Gloria's, as Gloria placed her other hand on top. She then began chanting in Latin, a language I had been wanting to learn for years but had never found the time. We all waited in anticipation, I was half expecting flames to burst out of nowhere but instead, she just looked back at us. Very anti climatic.

"I found it" She concluded, and for the first time all day, Klaus seemed pleased.

"So where is it?" Rebekah asked, but Gloria shook her head in return.

"It doesn't work like that doll. I get images, there's a girl with her friends-"

"Yes a dead girl with dead friends if I don't get my necklace back" Rebekah cut her off, nodding her head frantically.

"Well I have to dive back in to get details" Gloria told her, and Klaus stood up from his stool.

"So dive" He shrugged, like it was obvious.

"I need more time"

For some reason she kept glancing at me every time she spoke, like she knew something I didn't and I hated it.

"We can wait" I told her, narrowing my eyes a tad.

"I'm sure you can, but that's not what I asked" She nodded, turning her head down towards the table.

"Fair enough. Why don't we just come back later?" I asked the two Mikaelson's resting a hand on Rebekah's shoulder as her patience decreased.

I then turned to Klaus who seemed intrigued by my words, "I'll let you pick who we eat"

This seemed to please him, as he and Rebekah shared a look before following me out of the bar and away from Gloria who was starting to creep me out.

Sinking my fangs back into the woman's neck, I sighed in satisfaction as the familiar taste of warm blood tricked down my throat. Oh how much I had missed this.

"My girls dead. I'm bored" Rebekah complained, and Klaus retracted his fangs from his own girl, before looking over to me.

"You weren't kidding about being hungry"

I pulled away from the wound and turned to Klaus, "Yeah" I breathed, "It's been a long day"

"Try being related to her" Klaus nodding towards Rebekah who look slight offended at the statement.

"You're being mean"

I laughed, and she instantly shot me a look too. "And why are you being mean? You used to love me"

"It's been ninety years Rebekah, give her a minute" Klaus answered for me, which I was grateful for.

"Well I don't know about the two of you but I am full. So I'm going to clean myself up" I told them both, laying the now dead woman's body down on the floor before stepping over it.

I then left, in search of the nearest bathroom or even sink which was located about three rooms down. Turning on the tap, I placed my hands under the warm water, the clear liquid quickly turning a pale red as the blood rushed down the sink. Hearing heels getting closer, I turned my head to see Rebekah, a teasing smile on her nude lips.

"What is it?" I asked, glancing between her and the sink.

"What do you mean? I've only come to clean myself" She replied but it was obvious that's not all she had come to do.

Deciding not to question her, I moved to the side allowing her to join me at the sink which she gladly did. Her hands went under the water just like mine as we both got rid of the blood that had began to dry. Our hands brushed a couple of times and a jolt of electricity hit me every time, but I brushed it off not wanting to dwell on it.

"I know you still have feelings for me" Rebekah broke the silence, and I halted in my movements.

"I don't mind, it's nice to know that after ninety years someone still cares for me. Even if you didn't remember me until yesterday" She shrugged, as I watched her reflection through the mirror.

She picked up the nearest towel and dried her now clean hands, before handing it over to me. I accepted it, and began doing the same not expecting what came next. Rebekah placed her hands on either side of my face and slammed my lips onto hers, kissing me with every fibre in her body. Shocked at first I froze, until I realised what was happening and decided to kiss her back with just as much passion. Much to my disappointment, she pulled away, wiping the corner of her mouth before sending me a wink and leaving the room. And leaving me confused as well as wanting more.

I stood over the coffins which held the Mikaelson family, all of them each with a dagger sticking out of their chests.

"Nik went to check on the witch" Rebekah appeared around the corner, almost making me jump out of my skin.

"Dreary, isn't it?" She asked, noticing what I was doing. "The family cargo"

"Why don't you undagger them?" I asked her.

"Because Nik would hunt me down and kill me. He's a vindictive little bastard my brother"

I nodded, understanding what she was saying, I wouldn't want to go against Klaus' orders either.

"And you still care for him. Why?" I asked, careful not to overstep any boundaries.

"Well I hated him for a long time, it was exhausting" She briefly explained, taking a seat on one of the coffins.

"You know when I met you two, you were both on the run" I took a seat beside her.

"Also exhausting" She told me, and I smiled, her doing the same.

"Who were you running from?" I asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Last night I saw you, there was a man looking for you. You both seemed afraid, I just- I wouldn't think Klaus or yourself would be afraid of anybody"

"Nobody in this world is truly fearless Cheryl" She smiled, "Not even Niklaus"

"Who was that man?"

"I can't. Please" She stood up, growing upset. "If Nik knew we were talking about this he would-"

"No, no. I'm sorry" I cut her off, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Just forget I asked"

"He told me that you're only with him because he saved your friend" She changed the subject, and I nodded.

"It's true"

"I think he secretly admires that about you. He'd sacrifice anything for loved ones" She whispered gently.

I sent her a small smile at the comment, and she smile backed, placing a warm hand on my cheek.

"I do still like you too Cheryl. And I want to be with you, but only when the time is right which isn't right now" She explained and I nodded in understanding.

"I know, but eventually we will be, right?"

"Definitely"

"Gloria's gone. She's cleared out" An angry Klaus burst through the door, causing me and Rebekah to take a step away from each other. "We need to find a new witch, a new witch immediately"

"Where are we going to get a witch from?" I asked him, and he sent me a smirk.

"Oh come on Cheryl, you know most of all where I can find the best witch. Your home, Mystic Falls"
