Chapter One - Zara

One at a time a single prisoner is allowed to go through the white doorway. It was a large door, no handles. Just a push and enter, but I knew with a press of a button the guards could make the damn thing lock entirely.

As we draw closer some of the guards moved away and stood at the back of the line. Probably to prevent any runners. Anybody who would do that is an idiot, It's a suicide mission.  You'd be gunned down before you could say 'cra-'

"Zara Fujimura." A monotonous voice calls for me from behind the door. I didn't even realize I was next. Before I was able to react the masked soldier to my left shoved me forward with the end of his machine gun. I scowl in his direction before cautiously opening the door.

When I step inside I am immediately blinded by the bright white lights. As my eyes adjust I see a chair like the ones at dentist's offices except this one had restraints. lots of them. It was also completely made out of hard, shiny metal. Athratos.

The walls were all covered in perfect, freshly cleaned mirrors. Then there was the machine, it was a big pristine box of buttons and switches. Along with a small syringe waiting on the counter. Great.

"Got a good look?" A woman in a doctor's jacket asks me from the seemingly only dark corner in this place. I don't respond. I'm not interested in what she has to say.

"Well, your not the talkative type are you?" She struts over, with every step her short brown poney tail wags side to side like a helpless puppy. She gives a humble smile. She won't fool me though. No one who would ever work here is here for my best interest.

"My name is Doctor Penny, but you can just call me Penny" She looks into my eyes as if she is searching for something. Perhaps for the time when I asked.

"Let's just get to business, shall we?" She smiles at me, but there is venom in that smile. She pulls out a tiny rolling stool and sits down on it, not even bothering to be afraid of me. Probably because they have five guns pointed at me through the small holes in the wall, they were meant to look like bolts that held the mirrors up. I knew very well they were no such thing.

I nod in response and sit on the metal chair in the middle of the room. Once I do she picks up the green chart off the metallic tabletop connected to the side of her desk. As if like clockwork the restraints closed down on my legs and arms, trapping me in place.

"You come from the official correctional facility of Japan, correct?" Doctor Penny asks me inquisitively. Her gaze pulls up to look at me, her mouth forming a small smile.

"Correct," I reply glowering up at her, I wish I could carve that smile off of her mouth. She nods and makes a checkmark, then she reaches over and grabs the syringe. My lips tighten as it gleams in the lights.

"Now this may hurt but it's for everyone's sake." She states as she reaches over and impales the syringe into the large vein on my neck. I wince at the pain, she sure didn't bother to do it gently. I watch as it fills with my blood, and I glower even deeper at her.

She pulls it out and pats the small cut with a cotton ball, it soaks up a bit of the blood. Even as she stops patting more comes out, but she just ignores it.

I watch with slight curiosity as she injects my blood into a small opening on the machine, and immediately a loading sign shows up. Dr. Penny clicks a few buttons and the screen flickers again to show another screen.

I scan my eyes over as much as I can, but the small words prove difficult to read from a distance.

Dr. Penny clears her throat and starts reading it out, "you have no diseases, no afflictions. Your blood type is 'O' negative, and your power is shapeshifting. The strength of your power is-" she pauses. I see her type in a few commands on the screen but nothing changes. Leaning back Penny frowns, "strange. It says undefined."
