Part 9

On Atlantis, in Sam's office.

SAM: What have you found, Doctor Moore?
MOORE: Right. (Lorne gets up and gives his chair to Moore who sits down and puts his computer on the table) I.. I've been over the blueprints of the ship again. And... I discovered this. (He puts an image on his computer of a blueprint)
LORNE: You'll have to be more specific, doc. It's a lot to look at.
MOORE: Oh, you don't see it?
LORNE: See what? There are like a million pieces of information on this thing.
MOORE: (Zooms in) How about now?
LORNE: Seriously? Are you bragging right now?
SAM: Gentlemen, please?
MOORE: Sorry. (He zooms in again)
CALDWELL: There. (He points at a corner of the image)
TEYLA: What is it?
CALDWELL: It's Asgard technology.
MOORE: Bingo! (He points at Caldwell)
SAM: (Looks at the device) It's a beaming device.
MOORE: Yes! Ok, so... we know the Ancients were friendly-ish with the Asgards, right? So, I've looked up every file about Asgard technology in the Ancient's library.
LORNE: All in one night?
MOORE: Well... luckily there aren't many of them. (He puts another screen on his computer) THIS is Kerlin's journal. He was one of Atlantis' main contact with the Asgards.
SAM: I know that name. He was also one of Atlantis' leaders.
MOORE: Better than that, he was THE leader at the time the Minoria group was still around. (He pauses) So, I figured I might as well read this guy's journal, right? Of course, I didn't find much, the whole Minoria group being off-record and all. So, I went to this guy's personal lab and I found this. (He puts another file) THAT, my friends, is his hidden journal.
LORNE: Those guys sure loved their journals.
SAM: Does he say anything about the Minoria projects?
MOORE: Oh yeah, and so much more. (He presses a button) I won't go into the details. But long story short, that device (shows back the device on the screen) was Minoria's secret weapon against the wraiths.

--------------------------------------------------

On Zakmus.

SALIMA: The ship is called Galio. We used one of our allies' technology and modified it to match our own beaming program. The idea was to use an isolated planet in an isolated system, like this one, to beam in the entirety of a wraith ship.
PALUS: Any wraith ship for that matter, hive, cruiser, dart... as long as they were close enough to the Galio, the program would have sensed their life signal and beam them out onto this planet here.
ZELENKA: That's brilliant.
SALIMA: Once the planet was saturated with wraiths, all we had to do was to destroy it.

--------------------------------------------------

On Atlantis.

MOORE: You overload the shield and you get this massive explosion. No survivors.
LORNE: That simple, huh?
SAM: What happened?
CALDWELL: They were betrayed.
LORNE: Yeah, that Korus guy, right?

--------------------------------------------------

On Zakmus.

SALIMA: Korus?
SHEPP: We know he was a wraith worshipper.
KAPP: Yeah, the bastard betrayed you.
PALUS: (Gets up angry) How dare you speak of Korus with such words! He was a hero! He sacrificed himself for the cause! (Salima signs him to calm down)
SALIMA: I don't know where you got your information from, Colonel. But Korus was not a wraith worshipper.

--------------------------------------------------

On Atlantis.

MOORE: (Shakes his head) Huh huh. Korus wasn't the traitor like we thought he was.
LORNE: He wasn't?
MOORE: No. Suski was.

--------------------------------------------------

On Zakmus.

PALUS: Suski was the one who betrayed us. She's the one who got all of our prototypes destroyed. (He shakes his head and becomes sad) She's the one who killed Korus.
SALIMA: Korus was misunderstood by many of our elders, but he was a good man, a good friend. I knew he was being framed by someone, but... I never thought for one second that it was Suski...
KIM: What happened to her?
SALIMA: (Looks at Palus) I killed her.
SHEPP: Oh. (Surprised)

--------------------------------------------------

On Atlantis.

CALDWELL: And what is the link between that program and Colonel Sheppard's team being alive? If I heard you correctly, then the only ones alive should be the wraiths on that cruiser, not our people.
MOORE: You didn't let me finish, Colonel. (He presses another button) This is a picture of the 4th... no, second, chair crystal of the Galio. Doctor McKay sent me a photo, along with some of his research, right before we lost contact with their ship.
SAM: Why was I never shown that photo before?
MOORE: Oh, because I didn't know it existed myself before this morning. (They all look at him) I was... too focused on trying to get them out of there, then I was too focused on grieving them... I... I didn't check my messages. (He looks down)
LORNE: Your messages? Really?
MOORE: I'm sorry.
TEYLA: (Puts her hand on his shoulder) What have you found Leylan?
MOORE: Well... I... (scratches his nose) I'm not entirely sure. But... look at this part here and tell me what you see. (He zooms in and opens another window with some calculations from Rodney. He shows it to Sam)
SAM: (Reads it) Similar pattern with the Asgard device.
TEYLA: Another beaming program? Why?
MOORE: Well, Salima knew they had a mole in their group, it was only a matter of time before the wraiths attacked them again. So, I think she came up with some kind of private emergency beaming program.
SAM: To save her crew if the ship is destroyed.

--------------------------------------------------

On Zakmus.

SALIMA: The wraiths had destroyed our construction platform and they had already started to fire at the Galio. Korus tried to stop them but Suski killed him first. I managed to beam the wraith's crew on the planet before they could really damage the ship, but... Suski found my safety program and used it to beam my own team on the planet too. It was just me and her and... I didn't have a choice if I wanted to save the ship and our entire work... I had... to stop her. (She looks at Shepp)
SHEPP: You did what you had to do.
SALIMA: I destroyed the wraith ship and I used my program to come here and save my team.
KAPP: You sacrificed yourself?
SALIMA: No, you don't understand. I did not intend to be stuck here for thousands of years Sergeant Kapp.
KAPP: But you said it yourself, once you get here, there is no escape.
SALIMA: For the wraiths, there isn't.
SHEPP: What do you mean? (She takes a device out of her pocket and shows it to them)

--------------------------------------------------

On Atlantis.

Moore opens another window, back to Kerlin's journal. There is a drawing of another device.

CALDWELL: What is this?
MOORE: This is the remote control for the shield. (They all look at him. He stays silent and hesitant)
LORNE: There's a remote??
CALDWELL: Why didn't you start with this? (Sam frowns, suspecting something is wrong)
MOORE: Well, because there's good news and bad news.
SAM: What's the good one?
MOORE: Salima... created two of them.
CALDWELL: And I'm guessing both of them are the bad news? (Moore nods in silence)

--------------------------------------------------

On Zakmus.

SALIMA: This is the device that was supposed to disable the shield. I created it myself.
SHEPP: What's the catch?
SALIMA: Someone has changed its program and made it completely useless.
ZELENKA: Suski...
SALIMA: I never thought she was capable of bypassing my own designs.
SHEPP: Great.
ZELENKA: (Looks at the device) Hang on. Colonel, I think I've seen this device before.

--------------------------------------------------

On Atlantis.

SAM: If Salima had one with her, who had the other one?
MOORE: Kerlin. She gave him one in case of emergencies.
LORNE: So what, saving them was not urgent enough?
MOORE: He thought they were dead.
LORNE: Still... Doesn't hurt to check, don't you think?
SAM: Exactly. Maybe they didn't want to check, Major.
CALDWELL: Is the device still on Atlantis? If we can find it... (Moore takes out the device from his pocket and puts it shyly on the table. They all stop)
SAM: Where did you find it?
MOORE: It was part of the boxes Doctor Mckay first found 6 months ago.
LORNE: You're kidding? We had it the whole time?
CALDWELL: How is that bad news?
TEYLA: It's not working anymore. (Moore nods and points at Teyla) Rodney said that the lab was one of the first rooms to take water when your team first came through the gate.
LORNE: And I'm guessing that thing's not waterproof...
MOORE: Doctor Mckay said that all non-functioning devices were useless and proceeded to... throw them all in the bin.
SAM: You mean you got this out of Rodney's trash? (Moore smiles)
LORNE: Can you fix it?
MOORE: Believe me, I tried. (He sighs) All I could get from it was radiation. (They look at him) Very small particles of it.
SAM: (She thinks and leans forward) Maybe it can help. (Moore looks at him) Doctor, would you mind if I took a look at it?
MOORE: Of course. (He hands it to her)
CALDWELL: What are you thinking?
SAM: I'm not sure yet.
