Chapter Six

The Cullen's would have to face the newborns and it would be an ugly fight. Lives would be lost. The wolf pack would fight with them. Which is why Bella and I were with the Cullen's in a field this day, waiting on the wolf pack for Jasper to teach them how to fight.

They arrived in wolf form, not fully trusting the Cullen's. I stood by a tree, Bella and Edward standing a few feet in front of me. Carlisle and Jasper were explaining some stuff, Edward was interpreting, and I felt something went nudge my hand. I looked down to see a large russet wolf laying next to me, nudging me with his face. I looked into its eye and knew it was Jacob.

"Hey, Jake." I whispered, sitting cross legged on the ground, petting his head. I looked to see some of the Cullen's practice fighting and Edward sat next to me.

"He loves you, Noreen." Edward said, smiling and patting my shoulder. Jacob whimpered, nodding his huge head. When the training was done for the day, Jake lay down and moved his head.

"He wants you to get on his back." Edward chuckled, walking toward Bella. I smiled and climbed up, clutching tufts of fur as the huge wolf ran through the woods. My hair blew in the wind and the other wolves soon joined us, some running ahead. A gray wolf and a chocolate brown one ran on either side of us, tongues hanging out and giving me wolfy grins.

When we arrived at the reservation, I sat on the steps of a house as Quil, Jacob, and Embry came out of the woods clothed. I stood up nervously and Jacob took my hand, pulling me into the house.

"Noreen! You're back." Emily said, coming out of the kitchen holding a plate of muffins.

"Hey, Em." I hugged her from the side and sat at the round table with Jake.

"Okay, boys. The muffins are done. Slow down on these." She laughed, the boys all going for the plate.

The next morning, Jacob left early so dad wouldn't see him and as he left, Edward stepped out of Bella's room.

"So, how's the happy couple?" He whispered, smiling. I punched his arms and laughed, going to change. Edward was bringing us to the field where the battle would take place to meet Jasper and Jacob. Jake would carry us through the woods and up to the mountain so we would be hidden during the fight with Edward and Seth.

I dressed in two long sleeve shirts, a hoodie, leggings, jeans, and boots. I left my hair down and pulled a white beanie over my head. I stepped out and we headed to the field..Jacob phased and brought Bella quickly through the trail and to the campsite, then back.

Our scents had to end in the field, so the newborns could track us to it, but not past it. But apparently the wolves had a bad smell to vampires, so his scent would mask ours. When he came back, he carried me slowly through the trail. I kissed his fur and he smiled.

"I love you, Jacob Black." I whispered in his ear and he licked my face.

As Bella and I arrived back home, Alice was leaving. Alice said that she had a cover story for us; the Cullen's were taking a 'camping trip' and we were supposed to be staying with her to keep her company. But in fact, Bella and I would be staying with Edward. Awkward...

I went straight to bed while Bella and Dad talked.

We arrived the next day at the Cullen house. I slept in a guest room alone while Edward and Bella shared a room. I hoped as I fell asleep that they would respect my hearing.

The next morning, Edward and Bella weren't there. I dressed and headed to the kitchen, quickly eating and then taking a shower. Jacob picked me up around noon and we headed to the campsite. We arrived as Edward and Bella were in deep conversation about something. Jake would stay there for the night with me, in case he didn't come back from the fight the next day...

That night, the storm blew across the mountains and the temperature dropped considerably. The tent, mine and Bella's sleeping bags, and our clothes weren't keeping us warm. We huddled together, telling Edward to stay away because we were so cold.

Jake came in then and without a word stripped to his jeans and lay next to me, only putting his hand on Bella's arm which warmed her up. I smiled, nestled against his chest. Bella had fallen asleep and I was almost with her when I heard the guys start talking.

"Do you still love Bella?" Edward asked. I caught my breath.

"No. I stopped that when I imprinted on Noreen." I could feel him looking down at me.

"Good. I'm not sure if you deserve her, but she deserves something that makes her happy." Edward replied, chuckling. And only then could I fall asleep.

When morning came, I woke to a warm hand on my shoulder. I smiled and rolled over.

"Jacob?" I whispered and when someone cleared their voice, I sat up quickly and rubbed my eyes.

"Oh, my God! Seth! You almost gave me a heart attack." I sighed and stood up, pulling a long sleeve shirt over my head.

"I just came to wake you and Bella up. Jake went scouting. Edward is outside. I'll let you get dressed." The boy blushed slightly and exited the tent. I chuckled and shook Bella's shoulder.

"What, Noreen?" She said, tired and angry.

"Stop having wet dreams about Eddy and get your ass up." I pulled on another long sleeve shirt, then a hoodie. I slipped into the leggings and jeans and boots. Bella growled and got up, dressing warmly. We left the tent and Bella went to talk to Edward about something.

I stood by the edge of the mountain, shivering slightly as the wind blew. I knew the Cullen's and the wolves would be getting ready for the battle. They may already be in the field by now... I knew another storm was blowing through Forks as Riley Biers brought his newborns through quietly and without notice.
