I felt warm hands around my waist and I gasped, then smiled noticing Jacob's breath on my neck.

"I heard you and Edward last night. I hope you two can be friends... Or at least not enemies. I love him and Bella loves him. And he's gonna be my brother in law soon. And I love you." I turned in his arms and put my hands on his chest. He stared down at me, the corners of his mouth turning up in a smile.

"I tried to keep loving Bella after I imprinted. A part of me will always care for her, but not in a romantic way." He kissed my cheek and I buried my face in his neck.

"You be safe, Jacob Black. I'll be expecting you back in a couple hours, got it?" I put my hand on his cheek and he covered my hand with his.

"It's about to start, Jacob." Edward said after clearing his throat. We broke apart and Jacob kissed my lips briefly before phasing and running down the trail. I stared after him until he disappeared in the trees and I had a bad feeling.

I stood with Bella and Edward by the tent, trying to keep Bella warm. Seth returned, taking Jake's place so his telepathic link to the pack would keep Edward up to date on the battle. And so Seth wouldn't get hurt. Obviously Leah's idea.

"She's here." Edward said after a while, talking about Victoria. Bella and I caught our breath and I began to panic. "She noticed I wasn't fighting and knew I wouldn't leave your side." He looked at Bella, grabbed her waist and pulled her to him. Seth stood in front of me. "She's not alone." He whispered. He urged Seth to hide for an ambush.

Then Riley slowly walked out of the trees, confronting Edward. I was blocking them out, then I stepped forward.

"Riley, stop." I commanded but my voice was shaky. He stopped and looked at me, cocking his head to the side.

"Excuse me?"

"I saw your picture, on a missing poster my dad has. Your parents are still searching for you. They really miss you and I can tell you right now, Victoria would not care if Edward ripped your head off." I said quietly, inching toward him. His eyes filled with sorrow and regret.

"She only wants to avenge her true mate, James." Edward piped up. Victoria arrived then, whispering in Riley's ear. I couldn't hear her... His desire for Victoria won and he rushed to attack. Seth intercepted him and tore off his hand. Victoria saw the odds turning against her and she began to flee.

"Victoria! You'll never get another chance like this again. You want her." Edward taunted her. Victoria started to blaze with furious anger and she leapt at Edward. Bella ran to me and we huddled together. We couldn't do anything... I looked over at Seth and Riley. Seth got distracted by a sound and Riley kicked him viciously in the snout, knocking him unconscious.

"Seth!" I screamed, trying to go to him, to do something. Bella grabbed my arm, her nails digging into the skin, holding me back.

Riley joined the fight between Edward and Victoria. They were going to kill him. I turned to Bella. She slowly bent and picked up a rock. I shook my head, but I couldn't speak. She pressed the sharp end into her forearm, dragging it along the skin. The blood flowed freely. The vampires were stricken with a frenzy, breaking their concentration and allowing Edward to turn the side of the small battle.

Seth recovered and seized Riley, dragging him away. I smiled and turned to Victoria and Edward. Riley was crying desperately to Victoria, but she abandoned him. She was running to Bella who was unflinching. Edward intercepted her and they wrestled. Outmaneuvering her, he ripped her head off, killing her. I ran to Seth, checking his furry body for broken bones. He seemed to be fine. He growled urgently.

"Alice needs us all on the battlefield." Edward said, burning Victoria's body and we rushed to regroup with the Cullen's and the pack. I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach.

     "The Volturi can't see that you know about us, Noreen. Seth, take her back to Billy's. Go, now." Edward shouted. I hoped the pack had already left as I climbed on Seth's back and we went the opposite way.

Seth and I were just getting to the reservation property as some of the wolves darted in front of us and I pulled Seth's ear, urging him to run after them quicker. We arrived at Billy's as Sam and Paul were carrying someone inside the house. Then Carlisle went inside. I looked around frantically, then ran to Billy.

"Billy, where's Jacob?" I asked loudly. I heard a scream from the house and Billy flinched. "Billy?!" I shouted this time and he put his face in his hands. I turned and tried to run to the front door, but muscular arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me back.

"Let me go! I have to be in there!" I screamed. Then Jacob was yelling my name and I fought harder.

"Noreen, stop. If you love him, you'll wait! Carlisle knows what he's doing." Embry said in my ear. I calmed down and sank to my knees, falling on the palms of my hands in the mud. A loud truck came into the driveway then and there was only one person who drove something that loud.

I looked up and through the tears, I saw Bella run to me, falling in front of me. She grabbed my shoulders and hugged me to her chest tightly. Jacob's screams continued for another hour and I sobbed louder to drown out the sound.

"They're rebreaking his bones." Embry said, flinching and shivering. Carlisle soon emerged from the house and said that Jacob was out of danger and would start to recover. Billy shook his hand and he knelt next to me.

"Noreen, Jacob is asking for you." Carlisle patted my back and left. I stood up, my knees shaking and Bella and Embry helped me to the door. I went the rest of the way to Jacob's room alone. I stood in the doorway, watching him. His arms were crossed over his chest, bandages wrapped around his body. I knelt by the bed, my hand lightly on his chest. His eyes opened slowly and he smiled weakly.

"Noreen?"

"Yeah, Jake. It's me." I let out a choked sob and wiped my eyes.

"Hey, I'm okay. See?" He smiled again and winced.

"What the hell happened, Jacob?"

"We missed a newborn. It came out and attacked Leah. I jumped in the middle and it got me around the ribs. Crushed every single one."

I fell asleep by his bed, curled up on the floor leaning against the bed. I woke to Bella shaking my shoulder. She looked like she had probably never left Billy's and had slept in her truck or on the couch.

"Let's go. I'll bring you back when he wakes up." She whispered. I nodded and we walked to her truck. Billy was still asleep. We got back home before Charlie woke up and slipped into our rooms, climbing into bed. I knew Jacob would be okay...

Over the next few days, I stayed at the Black house, helping Billy with Jacob. He healed pretty quick and was soon able to walk. Carlisle still said for him not to phase for another month. One day, Jake and I sat on the couch in his living room. Billy was with Charlie.

"Jake?" I said, trailing my fingers over his muscular chest.

"Yeah, babe?"

"I love you." I looked up into his brown eyes and I saw nothing but love.

"I love you more.
